Chapter 73: Jealous

"And you’re tempted?" Margaret stared at Leonardo more seriously, then suddenly grabbed his hand.

They spoke softly while facing each other. With her holding his hand, the onlookers were naturally stunned.

"Ehmm..." Leonardo cleared his throat and gently pulled his hand away.

He couldn’t stand the jealous gazes that felt like they could kill.

"It’s something that can help a Beast Tamer merge with their monsters... Don’t worry, I don’t want to get involved in that mess," Leonardo said quietly.

If he got involved and betrayed the Harvey Family, they would definitely accuse him openly of being the thief from the ruins.

That alone was enough reason for him not to oppose the Harvey Family unless absolutely necessary.

He didn’t want to live a life constantly hiding.

"Oh..." Even Margaret was visibly surprised by that.

A moment later, she frowned slightly and smiled coldly.

"Do you really think they would give you something like that just because you do what they say?" she said.

Leonardo fell into thought.

Of course, he had doubts.

How could the association hand over something so valuable just for completing a task?

The question was—did they even have it?

"So you think they’ll deceive me?" Leonardo asked. It would be strange if the most powerful organization in the world resorted to something like that.

"Maybe, maybe not... But if they really give you something that valuable, they’ll definitely control you first—turn you into a weapon. And don’t you think this might just be a way for them to learn more about you? Maybe they already suspect that you’re the one who stole from the ruins." Margaret smiled as she said the last sentence.

"You’re giving me a headache with all these speculations... but well, you’ve succeeded in making me doubt the association even more," Leonardo said, shaking his head.

He knew she was trying to influence him—but everything she said was logical.

"The association isn’t as good as you think."

"But they’re not as bad as your Harvey Family either..."

"Still, someone like you is better off with the Harvey Family than with the association."

After that, Leonardo and Margaret went to the cafeteria.

This time, Margaret was the one who looked surprised—and it wasn’t because of Leonardo.

She was staring at Levi and Emma, who were sitting together at a corner table.

Emma looked shy and embarrassed, while Levi seemed enthusiastic.

Even more surprising, when they arrived, Levi was holding Emma’s hand, making her tremble.

"What is this?" Margaret said.

Emma wasn’t unattractive—though she couldn’t compare to Elsa and Mary. Her old-fashioned style only hid her beauty.

With that kind of appearance, it was hard for her to attract men.

Even Leonardo hadn’t been interested, despite seeing her in more casual and revealing situations at home.

Yet clearly... that style wasn’t entirely unappealing.

As Levi’s cousin, Margaret knew him well—and this was completely unexpected.

At this school, it was rare for younger male students to approach older female students. Usually, it was the opposite. Yet Levi had done exactly that.

Leonardo was also a bit surprised. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Even though it was his order, Levi seemed genuinely enthusiastic.

Who knew—maybe he had become interested in Emma after interacting with her, curious about the appeal of a "bookish girl."

"What are you thinking?" Leonardo asked Margaret, noticing her reaction was a bit too strong.

Did she dislike this development? But she didn’t seem like the type to interfere in others’ relationships.

"I think Levi has unique tastes. No wonder he never approached women before—so this is his type. Looks like he finally found someone at school who fits his preference," Margaret replied.

"Will you approve of their relationship?" Leonardo asked, slightly surprised.

"It’s not my business... but Levi’s father isn’t like mine. I’m not sure he’ll accept this."

Margaret sat at a table and called a waiter to bring them some snacks.

Leonardo stopped caring about Levi and Emma.

Instead, he felt uneasy when he noticed the sharp gaze from Thomas, who was gathered with his group in the distance.

Despite nearly killing someone before, Thomas still seemed completely fine.

At first, Thomas had been angry at Leonardo for offending Margaret.

Now, Leonardo was dating her.

That was worse than throwing rotten eggs at him.

"Honey, you’re not scared of that guy, are you?" Margaret asked with a chuckle.

She was clearly aware of Thomas’s anger.

"I consider this the price of dating you," Leonardo replied casually, then took Margaret’s hand.

If others were jealous, he would make them even more jealous.

What could they do about it?

Attack him out of jealousy?

That would not only be shameful—it would disgrace their entire families.

"I like this..." Margaret smiled faintly, holding his hand back.

"Actually, Thomas is just one of my pursuers. I mean among those with powerful backgrounds. They’re just not in this city. Otherwise, even Thomas wouldn’t dare act like he’s the only one worthy of me."

"It must not be easy having so many people chasing you," Leonardo said.

"I’m lucky my father is a bold man who isn’t afraid of conflicts. Otherwise, troublesome situations would never stop... Even my grandfather gets nervous when he has to reject invitations from certain families."

"Your words make me feel like I’m the greatest man of the year..."

"Every man would think that when they have me as their girlfriend."

"You’re making me turned on..."

"I wouldn’t mind if you wanted to kiss me right here. That is, if you want to make even more people hot and bothered..."

Margaret popped a snack into Leonardo’s mouth with her own hand as she said it.

Several of her fangirls instantly shrieked. Their idol was acting romantic toward a man, and even though such displays were common in this cafeteria, it was still a sight to behold.

In fact, making out was a regular occurrence for the students. If one were to explore every quiet room in the school, they would likely encounter dozens of couples having sex, given how many students attended the institution.

However, Leonardo shook his head.

"Even though I don’t know where this relationship is headed, I’m still going to respect your beauty by not doing anything lewd in front of others," he said.

"It turns out you’re also skilled at making a woman’s heart flutter with sweet words."

"Was that a sweet word?"

"Yes. If it weren’t for the fact that you don’t want to put on a show, I’d jump you right now."
