Chapter 8: Transmission World

Ellie, who still didn’t know Leonardo’s trump card, was filled with worry—but she said nothing.

The sky had turned dark by the time they reached the street.

Instead of continuing on foot, Leonardo entered a bus that had just stopped.

Invisible, he sat beside the driver—the only empty seat.

Monsters were not on Earth. They were in another world.

The Monster World—no, Transmission World—had four portals in City Z, located at the northern, eastern, southern, and western edges.

As long as Leonardo didn’t get off the bus, it would eventually arrive at the western end of the city.

It wasn’t a long journey.

A massive portal, large enough to make one’s heart tremble, floated half a meter above a main road that had long been sealed off.

At night, more people came out of the portal than went in.

And almost none of those who emerged were uninjured.

Some even swore loudly that they would never return.

Interestingly, two massive monsters also came out. They looked just as battered, yet seemed unable to complain at all.

Becoming intelligent like humans appeared to be something they regretted.

Leonardo could feel Ellie’s panic, but he didn’t stop. He stepped into the portal—his first time since awakening.

Passing through it didn’t even take a second.

It was incredibly brief.

He then appeared atop an enormous glass bridge, vast and seemingly endless, filled with people of various nationalities. Asians even outnumbered Westerners.

The bridge hung from two gigantic chains that were actually necklaces worn by two colossal dragon statues standing at each end.

Leonardo had long heard of those statues, but he was still stunned by their scale. They were impossibly massive—perhaps as large as Mount Everest.

Yet on this bridge, one could move by thought alone, just as Leonardo did in Invisible Mode.

The difference was that here, it consumed no energy at all. With a single thought, one could shift dozens of kilometers as if performing long-distance teleportation.

If one wished to return to Earth, they only needed to think about it.

But this wasn’t the Monster World.

This was Transmission World—the beginning of this entire era.

From here, the Awakener Association had obtained the Statistic Chips, which they later replicated for human use.

The moment he appeared on the glass bridge, Leonardo felt connectivity between some mysterious unseen network and his Statistic Chip—even while in Invisible Mode.

DING!

(Welcome to Transmission World, Leonardo Anderson, here is the list of worlds you can visit:

Monster World)

A notification appeared from the Statistic Chip, seemingly controlled by Transmission World.

The information was certainly intriguing. Leonardo had heard of it long ago, which led to widespread speculation that other worlds could be accessed—but for some reason, only the Monster World was available for now.

Some believed that reaching higher levels might unlock them, just like how the Monster World itself required progression. But there was no proof, and those at the top levels never spoke about it.

The truth didn’t matter to Leonardo right now.

Monster World.

He touched it with his mind, and a new menu appeared.

- Floor 1 (Open)

- Floor 2 (Locked)

- Floor 3 (Locked)

- Floor 4 (Locked)

- Floor 5 (Locked)

Leonardo knew this—each floor represented ten levels.

To enter a higher floor, one needed to advance ten levels first.

Only Floor 1 was available. He selected it and entered another menu.

- 1st Gate (Open)

- 2nd Gate (Open)

- 3rd Gate (Open)

- 10th Gate (Open)

- 12th Gate (Locked!)

From 1 to 12, only the last remained locked.

Essentially, each Gate opened after the Monster Boss there was killed, turning it into a portal entrance.

Monster Bosses were powerful—but if swarmed by Awakeners, they couldn’t survive.

However, some had what could only be described as cheats.

The Monster Boss at the 12th Gate, for example, was only Level 5. But it was governed by a rule that only one person could fight it—and that person had to be Level 2 or below, specifically designed for beginners. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Naturally, it was extremely difficult.

Until now, no one had succeeded.

If all Gates were opened, no one knew what would happen—because not a single floor had ever unlocked every Gate. Floors above had even more unopened Gates.

Leonardo only observed briefly before selecting the 11th Gate, the closest to the 12th Gate.

After that, his body was pulled forward on its own, as if piercing through a distant dimension.

This journey was far longer compared to traveling from Earth to Transmission World.

(Boss, this is really tense... why do we need to hunt monsters when we can kill other Awakeners back on Earth?) Ellie finally spoke, clearly hoping Leonardo would turn back.

(No. We’re going to break a record—and claim the reward.) Leonardo replied.
