The Strongest Master Venturing Urban-Chapter 327: How Dare I Offend Him?
Chapter 327: Chapter 327: How Dare I Offend Him?
Holding Du Minli in his arms, Chen Bin asked.
"Divorce, just like marriage, requires mutual consent. You want a divorce, but has Tian Rangping agreed?"
"He doesn’t, but I don’t care. This marriage has to end!"
Nodding in agreement, Chen Bin replied.
"I have a way to get you divorced, but it’ll take some time."
"What way?"
"File a lawsuit in court, and I’ll have a word with the leadership there. A judgment will come out in about one to two months."
From Du Minli’s perspective, as one of the county’s key leaders, filing for divorce would undoubtedly create a huge scandal.
But to escape Tian Rangping, she gritted her teeth and nodded in agreement.
After that night, Du Minli moved out of her home and into the county’s guesthouse.
Soon after, she filed for divorce in court.
When Tian Rangping received the subpoena, he was furious.
He immediately went to the County Committee and County Government to find Du Minli, but the guards wouldn’t let him in.
Realizing that Du Minli was determined to divorce him, Tian Rangping fell into despair.
He spent his days aimless, not going home, not caring for his children.
He even stopped going to the casino.
All he did every day was drink himself into a stupor at bars.
One day, while Tian Rangping was eating in a small restaurant, Cheng Zhuang sat down directly across from him.
"Mr. Tian, drinking again?"
By then, Tian Rangping was already a little drunk. He looked up at Cheng Zhuang and said flatly.
"Well, isn’t it Officer Cheng. What brings you here today?"
With a grin, Cheng Zhuang replied, "Just handling some business. It’s mealtime, so I came to grab a bite. Why’s Mr. Tian drinking alone? Bad mood?"
Tian Rangping said nothing, just raised his glass and drained it in one go.
Seeing this, Cheng Zhuang continued talking as if to himself.
"You don’t even need to say it—I bet it’s because of the divorce, right?"
Tian Rangping grabbed the bottle and poured both himself and Cheng Zhuang a drink.
"What, can you help me with it?"
"Help? I can’t interfere in something that’s between the two of you. But I can help you vent your anger before the divorce!"
"What do you mean by that?"
First, Cheng Zhuang glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby. Then he leaned in and spoke in a low voice.
"Your wife’s been cheating on you, and now she’s pushing for a divorce, making you the laughingstock of all the county leaders. As a man, can you swallow that?"
The remark stabbed deeply at Tian Rangping’s already fragile sense of pride.
Struggling to suppress the boiling rage within, he downed another glass of wine.
Cheng Zhuang didn’t hesitate to push further, adding fuel to the fire.
"Du Minli, as the Deputy Magistrate, openly humiliating you like this proves there’s no hope of salvaging this relationship. If that’s the case, why should you let her and the man behind her have it so easy?"
Of course, Tian Rangping knew exactly who Cheng Zhuang was referring to. With Du Minli’s capabilities alone, she could never have achieved the position of Deputy Magistrate.
Everything was clearly orchestrated by Ye Hong.
But at the thought of Ye Hong’s position in the county, his legs began to tremble instinctively.
"I don’t want to let that bastard off easy either—but... but I don’t dare provoke him!"
With a faint smile, Cheng Zhuang coaxed him suavely.
"It’s not about whether you dare or not. The real question is, do you want to?"
Tian Rangping immediately pressed, "What exactly do you want me to do?"
Without hesitation, Cheng Zhuang relayed Chen Bin’s entire plan to Tian Rangping verbatim.
After mulling it over for a long while, the latter found the idea quite appealing.
The only downside was the risk involved.
But the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
Given how many years Du Minli had cheated on him, he figured he might as well make a big move before the divorce.
"Alright, I’ll do it!"
Grinning, Cheng Zhuang gave him a thumbs-up.
"That’s the spirit. A man should never let go of both his wife and his wealth—it’d be a total loss otherwise!"
The next morning, an exhausted Ye Hong was napping at his desk.
Ever since he had lost control over the standing committee, he had been plagued by sleepless nights.
If he couldn’t sleep at night, he’d naturally doze off during the day.
Just after he had drifted off, a sudden knock at the door startled him awake.
Annoyed at the interruption, he rubbed his eyes and growled, "Come in!"
The secretary, aware of Ye Hong’s recent foul mood, spoke cautiously.
"Secretary Ye, the deputy director of the seed station, Tian Rangping, wants to see you."
Tian Rangping?
Ye Hong vaguely recalled the name but couldn’t immediately place it.
He waved dismissively. "I’m not seeing him!"
"He said it’s something important and... concerns County Magistrate Chen."
Upon hearing it was related to Chen Bin, Ye Hong perked up instantly.
He quickly instructed, "Bring him in!"
Soon, Tian Rangping entered the office.
After sizing him up briefly, Ye Hong spoke directly.
"I’m not one for beating around the bush. Just tell me what you want."
Equally blunt, Tian Rangping plopped himself down on the sofa.
With his legs crossed and a stern face, he said.
"Give me two million, and from now on, we stay out of each other’s way. Otherwise, you might not keep your position as Secretary of the County Committee."
Frowning slightly, Ye Hong looked puzzled.
"Why would I give you money?"
"Because I know all about your dirty business with Du Minli!"
A jolt shot through Ye Hong’s heart. He quickly demanded, "Who are you?"
"Du Minli’s husband!"
At that moment, Ye Hong fully understood. The man was here to blackmail him!
Still, as Secretary of the County Committee, he might not be able to handle Chen Bin, but surely he could handle a nobody like Tian Rangping.
With a sneer, Ye Hong dismissed him coldly.
"There’s nothing but a normal colleague relationship between me and Du Minli. If you dare spread false accusations, I’ll have you charged with blackmail and extortion! Now get out!"
Hearing this, Tian Rangping’s anger erupted. He shot to his feet and yelled furiously at Ye Hong.
"You bastard! Don’t act all high and mighty in front of me. If you don’t pay up, I’ll post the photos of you two messing around online!"
For the first time, Ye Hong began to panic.
As far as he could recall, he had always been extremely cautious whenever he was with Du Minli.
How could Tian Rangping have any damning evidence?
Thinking it might be a bluff, Ye Hong replied flatly.
"Stop spouting nonsense. If you had any evidence, you’d have used it already instead of fishing for information from me."
With a mocking smirk, Tian Rangping exuded confidence.
"Use your brain. With someone of your stature and someone like me, do you think I would’ve come here empty-handed if I didn’t have solid proof?"
Ye Hong found the argument compelling and fell into hesitation.
Seizing the moment, Tian Rangping pressed on.
"Actually, I’ve had the evidence of you and my wife for a long time. I just waited for the right opportunity. Now that you and County Magistrate Chen are at each other’s throats, if you don’t pay me, I’ll hand everything over to him!"
