——+——+——+——

Another year passed.

But well, at least I’ve reunited with everyone.

There’s just one single problem...

I need to get strong enough to make even outer gods kneel before me. At this point, I might as well conquer everything that’s on my way, huh.

It’s going to be difficult... but I’ll give it a try.

.....

The smell of food reached me before I fully opened my eyes.

Were they making breakfast already? 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

I could smell bread... and something sweet.

It smells like butter melting over something that had just come off the heat.

My stomach registered all of it before my brain had fully committed to being awake, which meant I was sitting up and reaching for my shirt before I’d consciously decided to do either of those things.

The dining hall was loud before I even pushed the door open.

I could hear James from the hallway.

"—I’m just saying, if you put THAT much sugar on anything, it stops being breakfast and starts being a personal problem—"

"Nobody asked you," Chaerin’s voice shot back.

"I’m asking myself, on behalf of your health—"

"James!" Derek’s voice was flat as he practically ordered his twin brother.

"Eat your damn food!"

"I AM eating my food, I’m just also—"

I pushed the door open.

The noise didn’t stop, but several heads turned at once.

"Morning," I said to nobody specific.

"AESTREA!!!" James pointed at Chaerin’s plate across the table without looking away from me.

"Tell your daughter that the quantity of sugar is medically irresponsible."

"Good morning, James."

"That’s not an answer—"

I pulled my chair out and sat down.

The table was, as it always was at this hour, somewhere between organized chaos and a natural disaster.

Bread in three different varieties occupies the center.

A large pot of something hot that smelled like it had been simmering since before anyone woke up.

Fruit arranged in a bowl that Ruli had clearly been picking at already, based on the suspicious gap in the pattern and the way she was currently looking at the ceiling with an expression of absolute innocence.

I looked at the gap in the fruit bowl, then at Ruli.

She looked at the ceiling harder.

"...Morning, Ruli."

"Good morning, Big Brother!" she smiled brightly, not containing a single ounce of guilt whatsoever.

"I don’t know anything about the grapes," she added.

"I didn’t mention grapes."

She paused slighly.

"...Good morning."

I reached for the bread.

Lumi appeared at my left elbow approximately one second later with a plate already assembled, setting it in front of me.

Eggs, bread... along with a portion of whatever was in the pot, already ladled out.

"You didn’t eat enough yesterday," she said, sitting back down beside me.

"I ate fine yesterday."

"You had two things."

"That’s fine."

She pointed at the plate with a look that didn’t invite further discussion.

I calmly started eating.

Across the table, Leaf was attempting to teach Mia something using a piece of bread as a visual aid, the lesson unclear but apparently urgent.

Maria was listening with genuine interest.

Iris and Maya were talking quietly at the far end, heads close together over something Maya had written on a small piece of paper.

Lucas sat beside Derek, both of them eating with the comfortable silence of people who didn’t need to fill the air between them.

Violet and her mother sat together near the window, the morning light coming through the glass and catching the steam rising from their cups in thin white curls.

Alaine sat slightly apart from the main cluster, as she usually did, eating with a composure that made the chaos around her look as if it belonged to a different world entirely.

Yara was arguing with nobody, which meant she was arguing with Zeva, who was eating with the specific patience of someone who had decided not to engage and was being followed into her non-engagement anyway.

Ah, yeah...

Everyone who came from the lower realms, including people like Lucas and Iris, was using my base as a home, which I didn’t mind.

"You literally agreed with me yesterday—"

"I agreed that you had an opinion," Zeva said evenly.

"That’s different."

"THAT’S—"

Lilith sat across from me, slightly to the right, her tail curled loosely around the leg of her chair.

She had one elbow on the table, chin resting on her palm, and she was looking at me over the rim of her cup with a slow, amber-eyed attention that she didn’t bother to make subtle.

"Did you sleep well?" she finally asked.

"I did... probably because of your lap pillow. Thank you for that."

"Mhm~"

She took a sip of her cup before giving me a bright smile.

"Always~"

I nodded with a faint smile before grabbing my own cut that was already served with orange juice, and took a few sips.

Rose sat two seats down on my right.

She had a small plate in front of her with far less on it than everyone else’s, and she was eating slowly, watching the table rather than any one person in it.

She caught me looking.

A faint color crossed her cheeks as she instantly looked back at her plate.

’...She still wasn’t used to being with me after a whole year, huh?’

"Aestrea."

Vivian’s voice came from my immediate left, on the other side of Lumi.

I turned.

She was already looking at me, her food barely touched, her cup held in both hands with a composure that suggested she had been waiting for me to finish the survey of the table before she said anything.

She did that sometimes. Waited until I’d looked at everyone else first.

"You have that look," she said.

"What look?"

"The one where you’re already somewhere else in your head."

I held her gaze for a moment.

She wasn’t entirely wrong.

A whole year had passed... and yet the Primordial Court didn’t make a move.

I did tell Olivia to try and mend things a little for me, to give me enough time to gather enough strength and information to make a move on them, but still...

A warning from her shouldn’t made them not attack me for this long.

Unfortunately, during this whole year, I didn’t have enough time to continue my challenge in the academy’s ranking.

But I still managed to get myself to the fifth place, and getting first place should be a breeze by now.

The only reason I still haven’t challenged the others is that I particularly don’t want to.

After all...

Those lesbian girls are going to be pretty annoying to deal with, especially when it was confirmed that they actually liked Lunara.

Lunara told me that herself...

Also, talking about the academy, we’re going to have an academy competition!

That is quite strange... honestly, but it isn’t exactly an academy competition... after all, there’s just a single academy in the Divine Realm.

However, it’s a competition where the strongest students from the academy are going to challenge elites from the three major factions.

Like the Primordial Court, the Divine Concord, and the Celestial Dominion.

...It’s also around this time that I’ll try to make a move on the Primordial Court. I’ve already gathered enough information and even got the localization of five of their bases.

Also got a few spies installed.

They’ve been feeding Christina a lot of information over the past few months, especially about their true leader’s plan to make a breakthrough to the Peak of the 9✯ True God realm.

This is the perfect time for me to attack their base.

But for now...

Let’s simply enjoy these simple times.
