The Swapped Master's Bride And Her Bad Luck System.-Chapter 35: No pregnant mistresses.
Liwu rubbed her hands, smiling gleefully. "Now, show me the abs. It is only right since you got to touch my butt."
Weijun covered his chest and stomach. "Those were different circumstances. And, remember the agreement we made."
She thought of his rules and rolled her eyes to the heavens. If he thought that she would give him space or the opportunity to enjoy the return of Manman, he was mistaken. She took a deep breath, thinking slow steps. Sooner or later, she would get her way. "I will make that call now."
As Weijun watched her step out to the balcony to make the call, he frowned. Her surrender had come too easily. What was the catch? All the reasons for what she was doing passed through his mind slowly as he looked around her bedroom. Other than the necessities on the dressing table, the only other personal item in the room was her wedding picture in the white dress.
It was in black and white and he could not help but scrutinize Liwu’s features. They were gentle, the eyes crystal clear just as they were when she was seen in person. There was a hint of delicateness which she did not reveal once you met her. "If only her sharp tongue could be captured on camera," he muttered.
He pondered on her past relationships, or lack there of. Her bad luck must truly have made dating a nightmare for her. If not for the marriage alliance, maybe she would have remained unmarried all of her life.
What about friends, did she have any?
The door slid open and she stepped inside with a smile. "So, my great granddad agreed to divert the sea and return it to its original path. But, he claims we owe him ten great great grand daughters and ten favors that he will claim at any moment.
Oh, and he would like me to inform you ahead of time that he will be taking a vacation in One city indefinitely. We should expect him at any moment from now."
Weijun’s face lost some of its color. It was bad enough having Tai Liwu in the city, running around with her bad luck flying like a flag. But now, his gates were to be opened to Old Tai, the monster of the sea world! He was not returning the sea, he was coming with it!
One temper tantrum and he would fill the beach with dead fish! That was not good for tourism, which was the major reason for the asking for the sea to be restored as it used to be. "Maybe we should reconsider."
"Too late." Liwu brushed the air. "You asked for the sea and its king decided to deliver it in person. Brace yourselves for the chaos he will bring."
Weijun grabbed a pillow and buried his face in it. Liwu’s scent flooded his nostrils and he threw it back to where it had been, before drawing in a deep breath. He considered things on a larger scale and the sea returning was more important than chaos of Old Tai. They would deal with everything else as it came along.
He stood up and adjusted his shirt. "I will go and relay your message. I will not be having dinner with the rest of the family tonight, there is a lot of work to do in preparation for the return of the sea."
Liwu waved with a bright smile, as if she was happy to see him go. Just before the door closed, he heard her answering a call, purring first before giggling. "Aang Qian, I have been waiting for your call."
The giggling and purring made him feel offended. Who was she talking to like that? The only other person he had heard her using such a flirtatious tone with was him. Was it a man on the end of the phone? A work mate? A boyfriend?
Before he could stop himself, he pushed the door open with force. "Who is that?" Are you seeing someone else? Is that why you agreed when I said when we should not interfere in each other’s love lives?"
Liwu felt rather offended as well. How was it his business who she spoke to? Did he think that she was not aware of Manman’s visit to his office and their hug? If she had not questioned him on that, what right did he have to question her on this? "Now who is crossing boundaries?" she asked, holding the phone away from her ear. "Are you sure you want us to start questioning each other on the people we spoke to or hugged today? Because I have some questions of my own."
Weijun was already regretting what he had asked even before she responded. And when she asked about the people they had hugged, a pit formed in his stomach. She did know! So, why hadn’t she asked him about it? Why was she acting casual and willing to talk to her great grandfather for his sake? He swallowed, feeling like a stone was scratching his throat. "I am sorry, I asked the question without thinking."
Liwu shrugged and replied with a smile, "It’s alright, we all our moments." They had been married one week, some things would take time sorting through. The actress was one of those things. It was enough that she had been thrown out of the Shen manor today.
"We should continue honoring our agreement to live separate lives. If you have someone you are seeing, I won’t make things difficult for you." Weijun told her.
Liwu sighed. "Let’s just end this conversation here and be at ease, I will not shove myself between you and her. As long as she does not throw herself at you in front of me or confronts me or disrespects me. Things like the mistress is the one that is not loved, I don’t want to hear them."
Weijun winced. It was not his intention to make her feel like a mistress or put her in such a position. Besides, things with Manman were complicated and he was not going to rush to a decision on that front.
However, on this front, some decisions had to be made and reassurances had to be given. "I promise not to do anything that smears our marriage during the time we are together."
"Does this include hugs, kisses and what happens under the covers in the dark?" she asked, curiously. Butler Chen had reminded her to make sure that her husband’s mistress did not get pregnant while she was still married to him.
Naturally, the words came from Elder Zhang. The thought had not even crossed Liwu’s mind before then.
Weijun nodded. "Definitely not the last one." Even if Manman decided to choose him now, the timing was wrong. "I promise to keep at her at a distance."
He left and Liwu remained lost in thoughts. While her husband was willing to be the perfect gentleman, would Manman be willing to be a lady?
