The Sweet Life of Superstar and His Goddess Wife-Chapter 539: Kidnap
"How would I know? I’m not Lady Dongfang."
Zhan Zhengtong was filled with unease the whole way; she had thought about calling the police or jumping out of the car.
As for calling the police, she couldn’t even press a button before her phone was snatched away.
Jumping out? She didn’t have that kind of courage.
In the end, she could only be led, trembling with fear, to a villa in the suburbs.
"You’ve never been here before, have you?" Lady Dongfang sat on the sofa, playing with her fingers.
Her nails were a bit long, her fingertips thin and delicate, well-maintained, completely unlike those of someone who works.
Her nails were painted, adorned with beautiful crystal stones, appearing very exquisite.
Zhan Zhengtong stood in the lobby, somewhat trembling. Although she and Lady Dongfang were once best friends, she clearly didn’t know her well; otherwise, the woman wouldn’t have stolen her husband and swapped her son.
"Lady Dongfang, regardless of everything, we were best friends before. Why did you bring me here so hastily? What do you mean by this?" Zhan Zhengtong tried to play the emotional card while glancing around.
Standing around them were two rows of burly men in suits, and a row of young girls in traditional attire, each one as fresh and lovely as the next.
"Best friends?" Lady Dongfang sneered, curling her lips, "Do you really think we still are? How could you even say that? If we were truly best friends, we wouldn’t be women of the same man, and your son wouldn’t have killed mine."
"Haven’t I already said? My son couldn’t possibly do such a thing; it must be a misunderstanding. Besides, you see, my son is already on my daughter-in-law’s family register; he won’t fight Ah Hao for the Yan Family, so why would he kill Ah Hao?"
At this point, Zhan Zhengtong felt a bit relieved.
Luckily, her son hadn’t formally returned to the family; otherwise, this would be extremely hard to clear up.
"To avenge you!"
"What does my matter have to do with Ah Hao?" Zhan Zhengtong said, "Back then, swapping my son was between you and that scumbag Yan Shanchuan; Ah Hao was just a child, what did it have to do with him?"
Lady Dongfang looked at her steadily and suddenly burst out laughing, "Hahaha... It seems you really don’t know anything, do you, Zhan Zhengtong? Should I say you’re lucky or just plain foolish? Even at this stage, you claim to know nothing."
Zhan Zhengtong was bewildered but unwilling to admit it: "What do you mean I don’t know? I knew about you and Yan Shanchuan ages ago, I just didn’t want to expose it for the sake of appearances."
"Oh? Is that so?"
"That’s how it is." Zhan Zhengtong refused to admit she’d been deceived for over twenty years. If it weren’t for what happened with Ah Hao, she would never have suspected them.
"But that’s not what I’m talking about," Lady Dongfang said.
"Then what are you talking about?"
Lady Dongfang lacked the energy to speak, raising her hand towards the dining table a few meters away.
There was a fruit platter on the table, featuring a large red apple.
She uttered a gentle command, "Rise!"
The red apple floated into the air and drifted in a straight line into Lady Dongfang’s hand.
"Are you performing magic?" Zhan Zhengtong was momentarily stunned.
Why suddenly perform magic out of the blue?
"No! This is not magic; it’s a spell! Now do you understand why Yan Shanchuan chose to be with me? Because I’m a cultivator, and you’re just an ordinary person."
Zhan Zhengtong was dumbfounded.
A cultivator?!
Are there really cultivators in this world? How is that possible; isn’t this just a plot from novels and movies?
"Being with me, not only could he obtain some resources from the Cultivation World, but he also could have a son capable of cultivation. But all of this was destroyed by your son."
As she spoke, Lady Dongfang gripped the red apple with both hands, and suddenly applied force as if it were being squeezed in a juicer, extracting the juice until it dripped down her hand.
When she opened her hand, only a flattened apple core remained inside.
Zhan Zhengtong was shocked. This was too powerful!
"Really, there are cultivators in this world?" she murmured.
"Of course, there are. Otherwise, what do you think I am? A demon?"
Zhan Zhengtong didn’t respond.
"You probably didn’t know, did you? Your son isn’t a cultivator either."
Zhan Zhengtong denied it firmly: "Impossible!"
"Why can’t it be possible? He was born as the child of fortune, possessing luck that many don’t have. I originally hired an expert to transfer Jiang Nuo’s Qi Fortune to my child. But somehow, your son has incredible luck and managed to take the Qi Fortune back," Lady Dongfang’s expression showed a tinge of resentment, "It’s because your son took back the Qi Fortune that my son’s fortune became so poor, causing a car accident, and leading to his death... It’s all your son’s fault!"
"What Qi Fortune? I completely don’t understand what you’re saying. I know you’re heartbroken over Ah Hao’s death, and I’m very sad too..."
"Bullshit! Why would you be sad? If you were truly grieving, why didn’t you attend Ah Hao’s funeral?" Lady Dongfang questioned her.
"I wanted to go, but they wouldn’t let me. Those days they watched me closely, I couldn’t go anywhere. I sneaked out just to see Ah Hao. After all, I raised him for over 20 years from a little child, he was so adorable and obedient back then..."
"You’re lying! You hated him, wished him dead, because he took everything from your son."
Zhan Zhengtong interrupted her directly, shouting, "Nonsense! How could I hate him? He was raised by me, the nurturing bond outweighs the birth bond, he is my son!"
Lady Dongfang quietly pressed the record button: "That’s right, the nurturing bond outweighs the birth bond; my son is obviously more important than your son, because you raised my son, and your son... You never even took care of him for a day, you have no feelings for him, how could he be more important than my son, right?"
Zhan Zhengtong was momentarily dazed.
"Why aren’t you speaking? Agreeing by silence?"
"No, Ah Nuo is my son, even though I haven’t raised him a day, but..."
"So Ah Hao isn’t important then?"
"Not really, he is the one I raised."
"Then between Ah Hao and Ah Nuo, who is more important?"
"I... I don’t know. But no matter whether it’s Ah Hao or Ah Nuo, they are both my sons. I will cherish them equally and treat them well, truly, I swear..."
Lady Dongfang sneered," Would you dare say that to your son? Would you dare say that to your biological son?"
"Why wouldn’t I dare? I haven’t done anything wrong. Ah Hao was raised by me, what’s wrong if I treat him as my son? Besides, Ah Hao is already dead. Ah Nuo is kind-hearted, he will surely understand." Zhan Zhengtong spoke without much certainty.
