The System Awakens: Rise of the Champion-Chapter 159: Desperate Countesses - 2
Damian watched as Lillian turned around with an intense expression. "Can we talk?"
"Talk about what? There is nothing to talk about. I've already said I won't kill any more vampires unless they mess with me first," Damian said as if he didn't understand what more there could be to discuss, even though he knew exactly what they wanted.
But Damian wouldn't ask them about it or offer his help.
The Countess would have to plead for his help, and she had to be ready to grant him anything he desired.
Only then would the Human Progenitor consider helping them.
"This is important... Can we talk in private? We will explain everything to you... The Human King," Lillian Brenlith said as she slightly bowed her head.
Watching this, not just Damian, but even the four other Countesses were shocked.
They had never seen the strongest vampire bow to anyone before, and certainly not in front of a human, much less call him 'the Human King', as if accepting that Damian was someone above her.
Damian was actually surprised.
He knew the Countesses were desperate for some form of help, but for the strongest vampire in existence to bow her head...
Bowing to a ruler or a king is nothing short of a sign of submission.
"Wow, I didn't expect the vampires to have fallen to such a desperate state..." Damian silently thought, without making any kind of reaction on his face.
Honestly, he felt kind of bad.
After all, as arrogant and egotistical as the vampire species could be, they were still living beings who, like any other race, were trying to survive.
It's just that some noble vampires, like Aeron Brenlith, didn't care about anything that actually mattered and did everything for pleasure and other foolish things, which made others see vampires as nothing but arrogant creatures of the night.
But in truth, not all vampires were like that.
Sure, they were a race that indulged in pure pleasure, but that didn't mean they used other races for their own desires.
They were just like any other race.
They had their own good and bad people.
Damian watched Lillian and the other Countesses for a few more seconds, as if silently assessing them, before using his [Telepathy] to send an order to his High Humans, directing them away.
They promptly left Solarta and went to Earth, following the orders of their King, leaving only the Human King and the five Countesses, along with Sir Lucian Holloway.
"Let's hear it," Damian said, and the Countesses raised their heads and looked at him as Countess Amaya Kuroyami sent her servant, Lucian Holloway, away, leaving just the five Countesses and the Human King alone.
"And before you say anything, I already know what you want from me," Damian stated, standing from his throne and walking down toward the five Countesses.
"The vampire species is on the brink of extinction, am I right? Well, why am I asking, of course I'm right," Damian smiled as he walked around the Countesses, calm as he spoke while his eyes checked out their curves.
"So you know... then we'll get straight to the point. We want Your Highness's help to save the vampire species," Countess Amaya Kuroyami said, sighing.
"I understand. I understand the intent, I understand why you would come to me. But what I don't understand is how you expect me to help. I'm the progenitor of humans, not vampires... I don't think there's anything I can do for you," Damian stopped in his tracks, narrowing his eyes at the scarlet-haired Countess.
"Which I'm sure you understand, yet you came to me anyway... I assume you have some reason to strongly believe I have a solution to your problem."
The Countesses looked at each other with a knowing expression before Countess Amaya Kuroyami spoke.
"...Yes, as you said, we do have a reason to believe you possess the ability to change our fate..."
"But?" Damian raised an eyebrow.
"We want to know how you, despite being a High Human, were able to transform into a High Demon..." Countess Amaya Kuroyami said slowly, as if trying not to offend the Human King.
"Not just a High Demon," Damian smiled. In the next instant, he transformed into a Fallen Angel.
[You have switched your race from [Human Progenitor] to [High Fallen Angel]]
Then, under the shocked eyes of the five Countesses, his figure transformed again.
His hair grew longer until it reached his shoulders, turning as dark as night, while his eyes became blood red and his skin paled until it was as pale as the vampires standing in front of him.
[You have switched your race from [High Fallen Angel] to [Noble Vampire]]
"I can even become a Noble Vampire," Damian said, looking at Lillian Brenlith.
"And I can even use your clan's bloodline ability." Crimson flames burst forth from Damian in all directions, surrounding him like an aura.
"So... it's true... you have the ability to embody any race you desire..." Lillian Brenlith muttered, wide-eyed and open-mouthed.
She could feel it, there was no doubt.
He was now a pure-blooded Noble Vampire, her own clan's blood running through his veins.
It was obvious he could use the Brenlith clan's bloodline ability.
The Countesses were just as shocked, if not more.
They could clearly see it, feel it, Damian was a Noble Vampire without a doubt.
"How?... This shouldn't be possible... How can the universe let a being like you even exist?" Countess Amaya Kuroyami muttered, holding her head as if she had a terrible headache.
She couldn't believe it.
She felt like she would lose her mind thinking about the implications of what Damian was capable of.
"Trust me, I've been asking the same question myself," Damian grinned as his figure disappeared and reappeared back on his throne.
"Just how can a being even be capable of doing this... This doesn't make any sense," Countess Akira Kaminari said, shaking her head.
"Asking questions is useless. You won't get any answers, certainly not from me. So why don't you stop blabbering and come to the point?" Damian narrowed his eyes, and his presence as the Human Progenitor and his overwhelming aura seeped out of his vampiric body.
A golden glow surrounded him, reminding the vampires that they were in the presence of an absolute monster, causing them to fall silent.
Damian shook his head.
Every time someone learned what he was capable of, they couldn't help but start blabbering as if their minds had broken, unable to believe it.
It wasn't really intense or harmful to their minds, so Damian didn't care, but still, people's minds tended to overwork for a short time trying to understand his existence.
The vampires were no exception, which is why Damian had to use his strong presence to bring them back.
"Well? Go on," Damian ordered.
"W-We..." Lillian Brenlith took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.
"We don't want to know how you can turn into any being you desire, but just knowing that you can is all we need."
Countess Amaya Kuroyami continued, "We don't know if it will work, or give us any sort of solution to our problem, but at the peak of extinction, we couldn't afford to let go of any chance we had..."
Countess Kathryne Dracula continued, looking down as if she couldn't meet his eyes, "We want your help... If you are kind enough to help us, we want you to take on the Trial of the Blood King."
"The Trial of the Blood King?" Damian raised an eyebrow.
He was instantly interested the moment he heard those words.
It sounded like something that held immense power or granted it.
The more he thought about it, the more intrigued and excited he became.
He couldn't find anything related to the Trial of the Blood King in the memories of the beings stored in his [Spiritual Library], so it must be something known only to a select few among the Noble Vampires.
The secrecy suggested it was something of great value.
And Damian could see their expressions change when she mentioned the Trial of the Blood King.
It shouldn't have surprised them, surely they had discussed this, but from their reactions, it was clear that even though they had agreed to tell him about the trial, they were still deeply concerned about revealing it, let alone letting him take it.
All this proved the Trial of the Blood King was of critical importance to the vampires.
"Before I ask what the hell the Trial of the Blood King is, tell me... if I were to help you, and a solution to your problem were to be found... what would I get in return for all my troubles?" Damian asked.
"Anything..." Lillian Brenlith said with a serious expression. "I speak on behalf of all Noble Vampires when I say if your help bears fruit, we will give you anything, as long as it's within our capability."
"Is that so?" Damian narrowed his eyes, his red vampiric gaze meeting the green eyes of the vampire Countess for several seconds before a satisfied smile spread across his face.
"Fine... you've convinced me." Damian stood up, shrugging his shoulders.
"Let's do it."
