Half an hour later, the caravan started to move.

We were among the last to arrive. After us, two more arrived who did just ten minutes before departure time. If they had arrived beforehand, then the caravan might have moved before time.

New novel 𝓬hapters are published on freёwebnoѵel.com.

Apparently, the departure time was not for us to arrive at that time but a bit before that. It is the time that the caravan would move but no one informed us about this.

Did the receptionist think we already knew this?

We were only with the guild for just over a week. How could she think that we knew things like that?

If it was regarding something serious, then the consequences of not knowing the information before acting would have been dire. Luckily, it was not a serious matter and we arrived before the time of departure because we got ready quite quickly.

There was nothing else to do at the Inn. So, after breakfast, we vacated the Inn.

Normally, I would like to give a piece of my mind to anyone who made such mistakes as I would end up paying for a mistake that I was not the reason in the first place, but I am leaving for the city of Emberfall and I most likely wouldn't return to the Crystal City, not even when we would return home.

I was thinking of taking a different route when we return.

Whether that would be possible or not, that's for the future me. For now, the journey to Emberfall is all that is on my mind.

Afternoon...

Well, things are going well. Till now, nothing bad happened.

The caravan stopped at a resting place for noon. Though the world is full of awakeners and powerful people, we still have to eat to fill up our energy reserves.

The higher the rank one achieves, the longer one can sustain without eating, but that would be for emergency situations where food is not available, not in scenarios like now, where we can eat till our bellies are full.

Even though higher-ranking awakeners can sustain themselves for a long time without food, that doesn't mean that they would be at their peak in such a scenario.

If they had to fight with someone or something, the chances of them losing the battle would be very high in such situations. So, no sane person would fast on purpose, especially when they were outside the safety of city walls, where dangers lurked everywhere.

Even inside the safety of walls, no one would do so, as what the future might bring, no one has a clue. Today, they can eat, but tomorrow, they might have to starve due to some incident.

---

"So, what should we eat?" Angela asked us two.

Celine immediately started to think about what to eat, while the duty of making the place suitable to sit and eat fell upon me.

It was a good thing it was not night when we had to arrange tents to stay for the night. It would be a huge work. The reason I say so is because I have no idea how to put up a tent. I read about it but never done that before.

Tonight would be the first time I would do it, and if I had to do it alone, then there was a high chance of failure.

"Hmm, let's eat the Crystal Fish. They said that they would rot away quickly, even if we place them in space storage", Celine said after a while.

Though it was a quest to protect the caravan, it was expected to bring our own food. So, we brought out our food. We added a lot of dishes to our food, both cooked and uncooked.

Space rings are said to preserve everything as they are, but that is not true. Time moves there too, but slower than in the outside world.

Food that would usually rot away in a day when kept outside would take a month or so to rot when stored in space storage. Well, they are space rings and space pouches, not time rings and time pouches.

They were to store a lot of things in a small space, at least when seen from the outside.

Time is a concept that the magic users of this world don't know about. Even in the Nexus, there are only vague references to Time Magic.

Maybe there are people who can yield Time Magic, but for now, that knowledge is still inaccessible to me, both in the world and in Nexus.

At least in the Nexus, I am sure that as long as I can improve my rank, I can see the knowledge easily, but that won't be the case outside. No one would let others know their secrets, secrets that can change the course of the world if known.

I mean, who would let others know about such matters? Even I wouldn't leak such secrets of my family to others. Only if the benefits are high would I be willing to share, but these secrets are more likely to cause harm than bring benefits.

Anyway, there is nothing I can do about that.

Instead of worrying about unnecessary things, let's concentrate on the journey and on the food that Angela took out and placed on a plate for me.

Crystal Fish is a local delicacy of Crystal City but that can only be enjoyed by visiting the city as they would rot even when cooked after a day or two, even when placed inside a space ring.

So, let's eat the food for now.

Other things can wait.

Half an hour later...

"Okay, everyone, it's time to move", the guard captain announced.

It looks like the merchant is ready to move.

Once the adventurers and everyone who had tagged along with the caravan heard those words, they started packing their belongings.

Though the sun was burning, it was good that no idiot attacked us while we were taking the noon rest. A few monsters did, but they were easily dealt with. So, we three didn't act against them.

There was no need to use a gun to kill a rat. A stick would be more than enough.

Fifteen minutes later, the caravan started to move, and we followed it from behind. The next stop to rest would be at nightfall.
