The Tempting Educated Youth Married to a Rough Man-Chapter 27: Secrets
From a distance, Xiao Chenye couldn’t see clearly nor hear anything, he only saw a pair of fair hands pulling a smiling Li Chenggang inside.
Xiao Chenye’s fists were as big as sandbags, itching to land a heavy blow on Li Chenggang and knock him out for good.
The door closed, and relying on his agility and what he’d learned from his third brother, Xiao Chenye silently scaled the wall and got inside.
Crouched in a corner, he held his breath, completely still.
Inside, a solitary candle flickered to life.
"Oh~"
Li Chenggang jerked suddenly, making the woman stumble, but she didn’t panic. Naturally, she lay on Li Chenggang, gently caressing his face, "You devil, slow down a bit."
The candlelight wavered.
The woman glanced at the candlelight, "Look at you, you almost put out the candle."
"Dear Manman, I’ve missed you so much," Li Chenggang’s hands roved restlessly, finally grabbing in front of him, responding to Wang Man.
"If it goes out, just light it again, what’s the big deal?"
Then, Li Chenggang complained, "You’re something else; your house isn’t short of oil lanterns, yet you insist on using candles. They have no cover, and if they fall one day, they could burn you alive."
As soon as he finished speaking, Li Chenggang’s face was lightly slapped.
Though it was a slap, it was more like teasing.
Wang Man glared, "You hardly come for ten years or a lifetime, and when you do, you piss me off. If you don’t want to be with me anymore, leave early."
She struggled to climb out of Li Chenggang’s embrace, and as she wriggled, Li Chenggang could barely stand it. He closed his eyes and huskily threatened, "Enough, stop moving, you’ve already lit the fire."
Wang Man ignored him, and slowly, the struggle turned into something else.
Listening to the altered tone from inside, Xiao Chenye at the corner felt murderous.
His fists clenched tightly. He never imagined that Li Chenggang could be even worse than he’d thought.
Mistreating his sister and wishing to kill his niece, it was bad enough, but now he’s fooling around with women too.
He only regretted coming alone because even if he caught them red-handed, he couldn’t just kill them on the spot.
Just as Xiao Chenye was contemplating setting this shabby house on fire to let them die together.
Inside, the storm calmed, and voices began to rise again.
It was Wang Man’s voice.
"Hey, your affairs have spread everywhere in our area."
Li Chenggang looked sullen, with scars on his face, "Your information is well-informed."
Wang Man snorted, "Do you even know what I do? You can’t hide this kind of commotion from my ears."
"Hmph," Li Chenggang scoffed, "It’s nothing, women are just like that, very soft-hearted. She may hate me to death now, but after a little coaxing, she’ll come back home with me."
Wang Man wasn’t satisfied, "Are you cheap or what? It’s gone on to this extent, might as well break it off clean.
Moreover, Xiao Chenyue’s third brother isn’t someone to mess with; he’s a rogue soldier.
And that fifth brother is in the county’s transport team, a local thug, even more informed than I am.
Think about what we do, if one day things aren’t cleaned up and it all blows up, it won’t end with just a beating."
She tried to reason with him, but Li Chenggang didn’t listen to a word.
He and Xiao Chenyue had feelings for each other; they were classmates living together day by day for two years before they got married.
For things to have reached this point...
You could only blame fate.
Li Chenggang was annoyed, blocking Wang Man’s nagging mouth, his lips curled slightly, "Why do you always want me to get a divorce?
How would a divorce benefit you?"
Wang Man panted heavily, her face flushed and giggled at his words, "If Xiao Chenyue gets out, don’t I get to step in?"
"Stop dreaming," Li Chenggang patted Wang Man’s face and began dressing, "You and I, it’s good as it is now."
Wang Man’s smile froze, her eyes squinting, "Li Chenggang, what do you take me for?"
Li Chenggang pulled up his pants, standing up with a grin, "Wang Man, that’s enough, for the sake of our years together, I don’t want to be harsh.
Your secret deeds, you think I don’t know?
He fastened his belt, pinching Wang Man’s face, "If I married you, wouldn’t I be the laughingstock, the cuckold?"
Wang Man slapped away Li Chenggang’s hand, staring coldly.
Li Chenggang raised his hands in surrender, "Alright, alright, don’t be mad, just joking. If Xiao Chenyue doesn’t want to come back, let her stay with her family!
The Xiao Family raising my child, that’s a godsend for me.
I’m thinking after half a year when the kid’s grown enough, I’ll find a way to coax her back."
Eyeing Wang Man’s still sullen face, Li Chenggang leaned in for a kiss, "By then, Xiao Chenyue’s mine, and her daughter will be yours."
Wang Man cursed Li Chenggang as a beast, "That’s your own daughter, and you’re just selling her out?"
Li Chenggang lost patience, "Wang Man, that’s enough. Over the years, the kids you’ve handled, if not a hundred, then eighty. Why act like a saint now?"
Wang Man bit her lip, "This is different."
"How is it different?" Li Chenggang mocked, then suddenly realized, laughing as he clapped, "You’re right, it is different.
Before it was boys, valuable, but this girl doesn’t bring in much."
Wang Man stared at the man before her, immaculately dressed but a beast underneath, feeling desolate.
Li Chenggang, having laughed enough, warned, "Alright, with the current heat, keep a low profile. The military district is investigating again; don’t expose yourself."
After a moment of silence, Wang Man spoke, "I know. I’ve moved things to a new place, only I know where.
If I get caught, I’ll drag them down with me."
Li Chenggang patted Wang Man’s head appreciatively, "Now that’s the Manman I know."
He gave her a kiss, "Be good now."
Fully dressed, Li Chenggang found their usual stash spot, grabbed a handful of money and left, "I’m going, see you."
As he opened the door, Li Chenggang’s sinister demeanor vanished, replaced by a scholarly young man.
Even his glasses were broken, repaired with medical tape, the lenses etched with spiderweb cracks.
A common face among the masses.
At that moment, Xiao Chenye had silently made his way to the rooftop.
Watching Li Chenggang disappear into the darkness, Xiao Chenye quietly descended and slipped away along the wall.
Along the way, his mind was a chaotic mess.
Thinking he had caught his brother-in-law having an affair, but reality...
Xiao Chenye didn’t know how to tell his sister about this when he returned.
It was all a tangled mess, yet he knew this wasn’t something he could tackle alone.
Involving so many innocent lives, even if he was confident, he couldn’t risk others’ lives.
So...
A flash of realization hit Xiao Chenye—if in doubt, ask Third Brother!
