Chapter 136: Flowing Serpent Strike

Wraith no 4’s mind simply refused to believe that he could be matched by Bella. With how prideful he was, there was no way he was going to accept his defeat that easily.

Honestly, it wasn’t his fault. There were a lot of factors contributing to his current difficult situation. First was his injury. The exploding talisman had done much more damage than any of his teammates had expected.

Because of the chaos that ensued, he had not been able to take any healing pill or potion. Now those ’little injuries’ were starting to have a big effect.

Also, the Wraiths were assassins. They excelled the most when they were ambushing their targets and catching them off guard. Now that they were forced into a head-on fight, they were put in a difficult situation.

With Bella’s skills, Wraith no 4 was quickly put in a difficult position. However, that didn’t mean that Bella had it easy. While there was no change in her appearance outwardly, she was actually struggling.

Internally, she wasn’t in as good a condition as she presented herself. In order to keep up with the ridiculous speed of Wraith no. 4, Bella was using a vast amount of Qi.

The movement technique that she was using was costing her a ridiculous amount of Qi, and she wouldn’t be able to keep it up for long. That was why she had not used any other martial skill.

Normally, after overwhelming her opponent like she was doing, she would have already attempted a killing technique, trying to end her opponent completely.

However, now it was taking her all just keeping Wraith no 4 at bay. Those seemingly ordinary whip strikes were, in fact, not ordinary. All of them were infused with her Qi, making them much more powerful than ordinary strikes.

If this went on for much longer, she would no longer have the chance to end this battle.

And as if the Heavens were listening, the battle took an abrupt turn. One of Bella’s whips strikes missed. Wraith no 4, seeing the opportunity, quickly closed the distance between them.

A surge of demonic Qi surrounded him, increasing his speed even further, catching Bella off guard. With a slash of his dagger, Wraith no 4 was finally able to land an attack on Bella.

Bella was not fast enough to dodge the dagger and ended up reacting too late to it. When she noticed it, it was already too late. She turned her body at the last moment, avoiding the dagger that was aimed at her neck.

SLASH!

The dagger that was aimed at decapitating her only managed to leave a wound on her shoulder. A hint of pain flashed across Bella’s face before it went back to normal.

She quickly backed away, trying to put distance between herself and Wraith no 4 once again. However, in an unexpected maneuver, Wraith no 4 didn’t pursue her.

Instead, he let out a light chuckle. It seemed that finally being able to land a hit pleased him more than expected. But to have such an advantage and not pursue it, it seemed, unconsciously, he was still underestimating her.

And that was proven correct by his next choice of words.

"Hehe, it seems the Young Miss of the House of Vyre isn’t so special after all."

"You are strangely confident for someone who was only able to land one hit on me."

"Hehehe, a hit? You think that was only a hit? You truly are just a naive little girl." Wraith No. 4 said with a laugh.

Now Bella’s eyebrows furrowed. From his words, she could tell that something was off. Seeing the confused look on Bella’s face, Wraith no 4 chuckled before clarifying.

"Hehe, do you think my daggers are ordinary? The poison laced on them is potent enough to kill a Golden Core realm cultivator like you in a few seconds.

With your strength, you won’t last up to a minute."

Silence.

The whole area fell into a strange silence. Even the Wraiths and Bella’s guards that were fighting had temporarily stopped and stared in the direction of Wraith no 4.

Seeing that everyone was quiet, Wraith no 4 felt something was wrong. He turned his gaze back to Bella, who was staring at him with a strange gaze.

"You... You do know what family I come from, right?" Bella asked tentatively.

Wraith no 4 blinked in confusion.

’What does the family she comes from have to do with anything?

Even if she was from the House of Vyre,..

Wait! The House of Vyre!’ As soon as this thought appeared in his mind, the smile on his face vanished, quickly replaced by a scowl.

When everyone who was watching saw this, they knew he had finally realized his mistake. The other members of the Wraiths couldn’t help but take a second look at their teammate.

They knew he was a bit brutish and didn’t often think things through, but they hadn’t thought it would go to this extent.

Trying to kill a member of the House of Vyre with poison was something that anyone would have found hilarious. However, they couldn’t laugh in this situation. Not when it was one of theirs that made such a mistake.

As expected, the poison in the dagger had no effect on Bella, even after a few seconds had passed. And why would it? Bella had been handling poisons for as long as she could recall.

She had gained immunity to various kinds of poisons and would hardly notice them even if she consumed them. It wasn’t just her. That was how the House of Vyre operated.

Especially for the members of the main branch. Usually, the members of the House of Vyre choose one of two paths. Either they became poison masters, with the knowledge and skill of how to concoct various deadly poisons, or they incorporated poisons into their very being, and their fighting style, making each and every one of their attacks deadly.

Even though most of his face was covered by the mask, Bella could still see the change in his expression. She tilted her head, her lips curling into a slow, mocking smile.

"Disappointed?"

His jaw clenched. He had no retort. With a snarl, he lunged again, this time abandoning poison for sheer brutality. His daggers became a storm of steel, each slash aimed to maim rather than kill cleanly. If he couldn’t poison her, he’d carve her apart piece by piece.

However, Bella was no fool. The brief moment when the battle came to a halt wasn’t wasted. While talking to Wraith no 4, she was secretly preparing a surprise for him.

With a crack of her whip, the Qi that she had been infusing into it all this time surged out in a raging torrent.

Just as he was about to close in on her, Wraith no 4 instincts suddenly warned him of danger. Without hesitation, Wraith no 4 abandoned his attack and quickly retreated away from Bella.

Even though he was a bit dense, his battle instincts as a Nascent Soul realm cultivator were top notch.

The surging water element Qi transformed into a giant serpent made of water. Its coiled figure was around three meters tall and its head was almost the size of a carriage.

Its figure shown with blue etheral scales. However, if one looked closely, they would find many scales with a shade of purple in them. The contrast between the blue and purple didn’t diminish its beauty, but rather made it seem more majestic.

"Flowing Serpent Strike!" Bella muttered underneath her breath. As soon as she did, the serpent opened its maws and let out a loud hiss.

Wraith no 4 who had just avoided the strike could only stare at the huge serpent with a dumbfounded look on his face. His mind was struggling to register what he was witnessing right now.

’What kind of martial skill is this? How can she use something of such a high rank?’ He asked himself inwardly. Along with shock, he also felt a high sense of danger.

And he was right to do so. With a crack of her whip, the serpent lugned forward, its large open maws directed at him. Its speed was fast, much faster than he was expecting.

He was only able to react when the serpent was in front of him. Even then, he was only able to dodge because his instincts told him to do so. His body moved faster than his mind and he was able to jump aside at the last moment.

With an awkward roll, he was barely able to dodge the bite of the serepnt. However, he wasn’t safe yet.

Crack!

He heard another crack and immediately, his mind screamed in danger. Teh serpent that missed him suddenly turned its head towards his direction and attacked again.

This time, he wasn’t fast enough to dodge. However, that didn’t mean he had resigned himself to death.

With a massive swirl, demonic Qi emerged form his body, quickly surrounding him and forming a cocoon made of demonic Qi.
