The Top Idol Next Door Can't Help But Crave My Guilty Pleasure Meals-Chapter 9Volume 2 .1 - Lets Eat It Together ♥
ROUND 9 – Let’s Eat It Together ♥ 1
The first time I met Sasaki Yuzuki was in our agency’s conference room.
At that time, Yuzuki was still twelve years old and not even enrolled in junior high school. She had come to Tokyo from Niigata with her father, aiming to become an idol.
Her face was exceptionally cute, and she had an air about her that looked like she would become more polished with time, but I didn’t sense any unique aura that big stars usually have.
Honestly, I couldn’t imagine her making it big.
She, three others from our agency, and I were put together to form an idol group.
Among us, Yuzuki was the only one who had been scouted.
Looking back, I think I wasn’t very friendly at the time.
Because it wasn’t fair.
I had gone through auditions at numerous agencies and finally managed to get signed after much effort, and here she was, able to stand on the same stage just because she happened to catch a scout’s eye—it felt like she was cheating.
It was as if all my hard work had been negated.
The first meeting was uneventful. Names, ages, hometowns, favorite idols, a few words—it was like changing classes at school.
After introductions, we immediately started training for our debut.
It was at this stage that I began to feel ashamed of myself.
Yuzuki was outstanding in both singing and dancing, far surpassing the rest of us.
She learned quickly, had high concentration, and a good sense. She seemed like she was already a complete idol.
When asked, she said that she had been gnawing away at idol DVDs at home almost every night since she was young.
She would play them over and over, memorizing the choreography and performing it for her parents as part of her routine.
No wonder her movements looked so natural.
During practice, her pupils were always dilated to the limit as if she was trying to absorb everything she saw.
While I was struggling just to keep up with the daily practice, Yuzuki was already steps ahead.
She seemed to be on a mission from God to become a top idol, beyond the realm of just being an idol lover or an idol otaku.
After the recording was finished, it was time to announce the positions and parts for our debut song.
I thought it was a given that Yuzuki would be chosen as the center——’The youngest in the group as the center’ sounded catchy and easy to sell.
However, the result was different. Yuzuki was placed in the position farthest from the center.
She seemed dissatisfied with the outcome and was arguing with the producer.
The other members watched from a distance with indifferent eyes.
Minutes later, Yuzuki was crouched alone in the studio.
As soon as we decided on the position for our debut song, I was appointed as the leader.
It seemed my first job as the leader was to take care of the mental health of my junior.
“Yuzuki, are you okay?”
“…Emoto-senpai.”
Her eyes were red like a rabbit’s. Such a display of frustration was proof she had given her all.
Yuzuki began to ramble on and on when I asked what kind of communication she had with the producer.
Clearly upset, she talked non-stop for over ten minutes.
What she probably needed from me at that moment was empathy.
Should I comfort her with cheap words, or should I be strict?
After some hesitation, I chose the latter.
“Yuzuki, you’re quite greedy, aren’t you?”
Yuzuki didn’t understand how privileged her position was, and that made me angry.
Don’t act so defeated after just one setback.
How much do you think I——no, we, have struggled to get on the same level as you?
I wondered if she would take it as sarcasm.
Would she hate me?
I immediately regretted trying to test someone three years my junior.
But her next words showed me the difference between us.
“That might be true…Thank you. I’m awake now.”
In that moment, she seemed to have broken away from her naivety. A twelve-year-old girl faced her immaturity head-on.
Later, Yuzuki listened intently when I gave her objective opinions and points for improvement based on videos and audio.
Yuzuki and I were both on the fringes, but we were not the same.
There was a decisive difference between us as we approached our debut.

I was certain of it then.
I would never be able to beat her.
Some might say it’s just a few months of acquaintance, but once you understand, there’s no helping it. It wasn’t logic, but instinct that made me realize this.
So I decided to use Yuzuki.
──I will become Yuzuki’s ‘older sister’ from today on. That way, you can rely on me without hesitation, right?
Before long, Yuzuki would surely take the center position. I thought it best to curry favor during her early days.
I taught Yuzuki various things: the rules of the industry, how to interact with talents from other agencies, business manners, honorific language, how to utilize social media, and even how to use transportation IC cards.
I never missed joining Yuzuki for her self-practice.
I thought that if I could keep up with her stoic training regimen, I would naturally level up as well.
Well, I felt I was growing many times more than when practicing alone in front of a mirror.
Being in the position of a leader made my relationship with Yuzuki more natural. Even if I were to be criticized as calculating, this was my way of fighting.
However, my plans were quickly derailed.
To put it bluntly, I was influenced by her.
Yuzuki is more stoic than anyone else.
Even in games meant to kill time, she would persist until she won.
Yuzuki never neglects her throat care.
She frequently hydrates, carries a portable humidifier, and does neck stretches to loosen the muscles in her throat. She even taught me how to do the stretches properly.
Yuzuki is surprisingly clumsy.
I laughed so hard I cried when she accidentally pulled out a glue stick from her bag and mistook it for lip balm.
Yuzuki is considerate.
When I hid my poor health condition and attended the lesson, she would rub my back during breaks and hold my hand.
Yuzuki is expressive with her emotions.
She gets angrier than anyone at negative comments about me and is happier than I am about the supportive ones.
She loves me more than I love myself, my adorable ‘little sister》.
I want to love Yuzuki more than anyone else.
I want to be Yuzuki’s number one.
I remained at the far left even after Yuzuki was promoted to the center position.
Although I felt frustrated, as someone who had been observing her closely, I thought it was a natural outcome.
In fact, I even felt proud to be able to support my ‘little sister’ from the side.
