The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 116: Ch : Lynn’s invitation- Part 5
[New skill – Possession has been unlocked. Can only be used while using Undercover. User can now merge their consciousness with the target for 5 minutes.]
A new... skill? At such a time? What a coincidence. I guess something good came out of this disaster at least.
I tried to be positive, but I failed as I took in a deep breath. Or, I tried to at least. But my current body did not comply with myself.
Something felt weird about myself, so I looked down to check myself out. But my hands looked far too delicate, and my view of the ground looked a little different.
As soon as I looked up, my eyes fell on the figure in the mirror, and I gasped as I saw that I was no longer my omega self, but a petite beta lady.
The face looking back at me was Rose’s with a pair of wide eyes and a tired expression on her face. She looked worried, and now I had become her.
I would have panicked had the system not told me that this was a skill. Besides that, the world still had a retro filter, meaning I was still using my skill.
My body moved on its own, and I could feel myself speak. I needed to pay attention to what was happening.
"-to do something. I cannot allow my hard work to go down the drain because of Ace and the media. Why is everyone ganging up on me like this? They all agreed that it was a good idea to replace Ace with a fake as well."
The female... well, I complained as I ran through the corridor to get to the meeting room. But my feet felt like they were being dragged by something.
My shoulders collided with someone, and the person gave me a look of disdain.
"Tsk, watch where you are going. Can’t you smell how bad of a mood I am in—? Of course, you cannot. After all, you are just a beta."
The other executive told me, and I felt Rose’s anger bubbling under the surface. But the female had more control than that, and she did not lash out.
I felt my fists digging into the soft flesh of my palm as Rose controlled herself. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"I am... sorry about that. I promise I will pay attention in the future and make sure not to bump into someone else."
My mouth moved to form those words, but the look I got back made me want to tell Rose to stop speaking.
None of these people were worth her getting upset over, but she still seemed to take the words and actions of those around her hard.
"Tsk, just make sure you repent for your actions. Because of you, we have gotten in this messy situation. If you want to keep your status as an executive, you better hurry up and bring back some results."
The alpha male told Rose before he left her all alone. Rose sighed as she hurried to the meeting, but inside her head, she was a mess.
And now I, who shared her body, could feel all she felt at that moment as well.
’I knew that the situation and discrimination against betas was bad, but I never knew it was this bad. They are treating Rose’s failure as if it is all her fault when all of them are at fault here.’
For the first time, I felt bad for Rose. But not bad enough to take her side. She was still an enemy that tried to have me impersonated.
My body stepped into the meeting room, and I felt eyes immediately turning toward me in anger and surprise.
The chairman was an old face I recognized, and I internally flinched as I looked at him. It seemed he still had that effect on me.
"Ah, Miss Rose, please take a seat. We were just... discussing what to do with you, and we have decided to let you go. For all your hard work, we won’t press charges against you for the harm you have done to our reputation. Now, please leave."
The chairman told Rose, and I felt Rose’s emotions boiling over. She was no longer able to control herself.
"Why only me? You should fire all those who are the issue here. Why am I the only one getting punished? What did I do?"
The female asked in a desperate voice, and the chairman just shook his head as he looked at her.
"I apologize, but that is not something I can answer. As for why you— you already know the answer to that, right? You are just reaping the seeds that you have sown. And now, it’s time to pay the price for your actions."
The man told Rose, and she cursed under her breath. She was not happy, and for obvious reasons.
"You will pay for this. I no longer care what happens to this place or to you all. I am done with everything."
The female spoke with certainty before she pushed herself away from the room. Each step seemed to be taking her longer than before, and soon, Rose collapsed.
"Tsk, I have given so much of my life for this place, only to be treated like this? I don’t care anymore—! This place is no longer worth anything to me."
She spoke in a soft voice before she took something out of her pocket.
I felt startled since I had not even realized there was something in the pocket to begin with. But that shiny and sleek marble in my hand felt nice to touch and familiar at the same time.
The weight grounded Rose, and she let out a forced chuckle as she looked at the shiny marble in her hand.
"I don’t know why I brought it out, and I don’t know why he gave it to me. But I want to use it. Please, hear my voice and grant me my wish."
Rose spoke to the marble, and the next second, it exploded, taking the whole building with it. The last thing I saw was the marble letting out a familiar energy that made me shiver.
’T-That is dungeon energy. I need to trace it—’
[Possession has ended.]
[Undercover has ended.]
[User will be forced back into his consciousness for his own safety. Rest and recovery are recommended for the user.]
Before I could find out more, the system threw me back into my body as I kept trying to reach out for that small marble.
It was as if the world was mocking me, and I opened my eyes with a frustrated sigh.
"Darn it—! I was so close to knowing who was the actual mastermind behind all of this. Tsk, I might need to use my abilities again once I recover—"
As soon as I spoke, I felt something rushing toward me.
The use of my abilities left me unable to keep up and dodge that attack. So I was beyond thankful when Lynn decided to block the attacking monster before it could reach me.
"Ace, are you alright? You were just standing there when the dungeon opened, and then you collapsed. I was worried that something happened to you."
Lynn asked in a worried voice.
