Chapter 129: Ch 129: Threat to the PC Cafe- Part 3

"Chairman, are you sure we should be doing this? Our public image is not good. If we do this now, then there is a chance our image might sink even further. This is too much of a risk."

The secretary looked at his boss, the chairman of the hunter’s association, as he pleaded for him not to buy the PC Cafe in front of the Luminous guild.

No matter how precious of a location it was, it was clear that the couple running it was not an ordinary one and had deep connections.

The fact that they had been able to last this long out in such a prime location was the proof of the fact.

"You do not have to worry about such things. The association might have lost a lot of trust but it is not weak enough to crumble because of something this small. Besides, buying that location would be the first step toward our revival."

The chairman told his secretary, and the omega secretary just sighed before questioning him once more.

"But chairman, why that place? Surely there are better locations available to us all through the country? What can a small space like that offer us?"

The secretary asked and the chairman chuckled before he spoke.

"What can it offer us? Information for one. The cafe is located in the prime location and is also visited by the people of the Luminous guild. It’s a treasure trove for us that we need to have at all costs."

The chairman spoke with passion and the secretary had a feeling that the chairman was influenced by something or someone. But pinpointing who it could have been was useless.

After all, the chairman met more than a dozen people a day during office hours and even more people once he was off.

To keep track was impossible.

"Anyway, did you track down the people I asked you to? What do they have to say about all this?"

The chairman asked and the secretary sighed as he looked at his boss. He was sure that his boss had lost his mind long ago...

Not that it was any of his business anymore. He was just paid to work here and nothing else.

And as such, the secretary had already made his plans to run away before shit hit the fan. But for now, he would pretend to obey the chairman.

"Of course I got those people. I also ran a background check and these people really are related to Ace. They are biologically his aunt and uncle. They are waiting for you out in the guest area."

The secretary told the chairman and the chairman laughed before he stood up.

"Excellent. Now, let’s go and make more friends. I am sure we are going to succeed from here on."

He told his secretary and the secretary could only sigh as he watched his boss walking out of the room.

The association was a sinking boat he could not wait to jump out of. But first, he needed to suck this place dry a little more.

The chairman of the hunter’s association walked out of his office and his eyes immediately fell on the couple who looked a little nervous as they watched him approach.

They stood up as soon as they saw the chairman and gave him a small bow.

"C-Chairman...what are you doing here? I-i mean, it is an honor to meet you. What can we do to help you out?"

The male alpha of the couple took the lead as he greeted the chairman. He looked clumsy and had none of the fineness Ace used to have.

’How incompetent. Thankfully, their incompetence is what’s going to help us out here. I am going to use both of them to push the association forward.’

While Ace had come out and told the world that he wanted nothing to do with his aunt and uncle, they were still of use.

The mass media could help improve their image and make sure that they would be seen in a positive light by the people.

And all he needed to do that was to twist the truth a bit.

"Please, take a seat you two. I have a...business proposal for you two fine people. I want you to make a few statements with your influence as Ace’s family. As for clearing out your name...? You don’t have to worry about that. We shall take care of that as well."

The chairman told the pair and they looked taken aback by his offer.

It sounded too good to be true which meant that it could be a trap as well.

The couple exchanged a look with each other before they came to a decision.

"I am afraid we cannot do that. As much as we want to help you out, there are certain...restrictions that are keeping us from being able to help you out. I hope you would understand and not hold it against us."

The male alpha spoke up and the chairman’s smile froze on his face.

The secretary flinched as he watched this happen from the sidelines. He suddenly had a bad feeling about all this.

’Shit-! This is bad! I need to do some damage control before the situation gets any worse.’

The secretary turned toward the chairman with a smile on his face.

"Chairman, how about we think about this later? We have more work to do and I am sure our guests are a little busy as well."

The secretary spoke and the chairman just scoffed before he looked at him and his ’guests’.

"Do you all think that I am a fool? I don’t invest in things that would cause me trouble. That included people as well. Now, that includes you all as well. Don’t think you will get to leave just because I am not saying anything."

The chairman’s smile did not slip away from his face, but his words were a clear warning for others not to test him.

He was going to get what he wanted anyway.
