The Top Omega Hunter Wants a Quiet Life [BL]-Chapter 164: Ch : A Story only I know- Part 5
"Hey, is it only me, or has subject 357 been acting up these past few days?"
Theo heard the guard ask, but he did not have enough will to move and speak to the guard. All he wanted to do was keep lying down and hope that no one would wake him up.
Now that his omega was nowhere to be seen in this world, he did not want to be here either. He wanted to head to the dungeon his omega had disappeared into.
"Shhhh, don’t say that. Subject 357 is the favorite of our dear head scientist. Any nonsense word and we would be forced to quit our high-paying job. It would be best for us to remain quiet about this topic."
The second scientist quickly quietened down the first person as she looked around. She looked scared, almost as if someone would jump out and grab her for speaking such nonsense.
Her partner also fell quiet, not wanting to get in trouble because of what she just said. Theo remained quiet, neither looking up nor giving the pair any answer.
All he could think about was that brief encounter that had changed his world. The owner of that divine scent was someone he wanted to meet again, but he did not know how to do that.
’What should we do? He’s gone-! Should we follow our omega-?’
Theo asked his other self that had also started to slowly disappear in the back of his mind.
It used to be so active before, but ever since meeting Ace, it had also fallen quiet, almost as if it was plotting something.
There was no answer at first, but then, the voice did speak up.
’Our omega is a stubborn one. He won’t be easy to bring back. However, since he belongs to us, the dungeon won’t harm him in any way. We just need to wait and he will be back.’
Theo’s other half assured him, and he took these words to heart.
In his life, he had little to protect and little to put his faith in. But his other half sure was one of the things he put his faith in fully.
"Understood. But all this waiting is sure killing me."
Theo complained as he rolled on his back and looked at the white ceiling. It was completely different from the sky he saw outside for the first time. He wanted to head back out into the open and forget all his worries.
But he did not do that, and soon, his room’s door opened again and a cheerful man entered. The intruder made a happy face as soon as he saw Theo, and he walked over to Theo with his arms extended.
"My dear Theo, I am back. And I have a surprise for you as well. Aren’t you excited to see me in your room?"
The head researcher asked as his feet skipped toward Theo. He looked far too happy for someone coming here to harness him.
But Theo did not say that to the man’s face and just kept looking at him.
The head researcher pouted at the indifference of the man in front of him before he sighed.
"Fine, don’t show me how excited you are. But look here-! I brought you a new entry permit for another dungeon. With Ace and the other top hunters gone, it is the right time for you to enter the dungeon and make a name for our institute."
The head scientist did not even bother hiding his ambitions.
In fact, he continued to speak as he held Theo’s shoulder, and his excited face flushed as he tried to contain his excitement.
"You are my masterpiece. The one thing that will bring me glory beyond anything else. Just the fact that you came out as perfect as you did is a testament to how great of a creator I am."
The scientist praised himself as he looked at his creation. Theo heard the praise, but he felt nothing on the inside.
All of this talk, all of the adoration of the head scientist, it felt hollow now that the actual person he wanted to talk to was no longer here.
His silence was nothing new, so the head scientist did not even catch what was going on behind his brain. He just continued to speak until he got bored and decided that it was time for Theo to head to the dungeon.
And that was how Theo headed to a smaller-scale dungeon once more. And then another...and another until he started to gain enough power.
Just like that, ten years passed and he never tried to escape. The scientific facility was a place where he had been born, and it was because of them that he had managed to meet Ace.
So he was willing to spare them just a few years more. He just needed to keep them alive until Ace came back.
But as he grew up, a lot changed. He grew tall, and other omegas began to approach him. But he remained uninterested.
His other half also stopped coming to him as frequently as it usually came. The excuse was the same every time—that he was busy preparing for their future.
And then one day, he felt that—the world was shifting and something big was happening. He felt restless, and his energy seemed to come back to him.
Suddenly, the world felt right, and Theo felt like a huge part of him that had been missing suddenly came back.
"I need to go. He’s back-! He’s waiting for me."
Theo unconsciously spoke as he took a step outside. A few scientists saw him walking outside, and they looked confused. They knew that it was not time for him to head out just yet.
So they quickly approached him to ask where he was headed.
"Theo, where are you going? You should come back with us. It is not safe out there."
The people reminded him as hands reached out to grab him, but he shook them off.
