The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 145: Forced to Perform
Of course, Maya Monroe was no exception. With her good memory, she could almost remember all the moves after going through them just once in her mind.
However, she was quick to forget, especially when it came to things she didn’t like. She would selectively forget them quickly to avoid being bothered.
As soon as the music started, the other guests moved their bodies to the rhythm.
Maya Monroe paused for a few seconds, unable to remember her moves. She wasn’t flustered in the slightest, casually waving her hands twice before spinning around lazily without even extending her arms fully.
Yet, the camera kept focusing on her with close-ups, and Maya Monroe frowned, her expression clearly saying "unwilling" and "forced to perform."
Her movements as she reached for the air slowed considerably.
Feeling dizzy from spinning, Maya Monroe decided to just wave her arms and occasionally stomp her feet.
While others’ moves were either graceful or enticing, she seemed like a "Plants vs. Zombies" zombie.
Leo Lancaster moved beside her and whispered, "Maya, did you forget the dance moves?"
"Yep," she responded casually, with no hint of nervousness in her voice.
Nearby, Kiki Monroe suddenly stretched her leg and performed a difficult move, drawing cheers from the audience.
Leo Lancaster chuckled, finding Maya’s simple and rough movements incredibly cute. He thought no choreographer could ever create a dance as uninhibited and interesting as hers.
"Maya, I’ll dance a little slower, and you can follow my moves."
Actually, each guest’s dance moves were different.
Without a second thought, Maya Monroe refused, "No need, I’m fine like this."
Leo Lancaster’s dance moves weren’t simple, featuring occasional shoulder lifts and hip twists, but thanks to his good looks, they didn’t come off as greasy.
Leo Lancaster had no choice but to give up, "Then I’ll try to block you from view."
Maya responded nonchalantly.
Whether he blocked her or not didn’t matter; after all, did she, the villainess, fear losing face?
Ignoring those around her, Maya continued with her lazy antics, her arms flapping non-stop like a duckling learning to fly, or perhaps like a newbie swimmer only capable of dog-paddling.
The performance of those around her was quite impressive, clearly well-prepared, particularly with Kiki Monroe following her difficult move with a series of impressive tricks.
Alisa Shelby held her neck high, exuding an elegant and ethereal vibe, surprisingly not overshadowed by Kiki Monroe.
Maya Monroe twisted her neck, feeling tired just watching them.
She waited a while, not expecting the music to be so long, and felt she couldn’t endure it any longer.
Sharp-eyed, Maya noticed a red column nearby that looked like it could support someone sitting on it.
She tiptoed backward and then plopped herself down on it with a clear conscience, feeling no guilt about slacking off.
Resolute in her decision to only return when this awful music stopped, she felt her uncoordinated limbs couldn’t bear such hardship.
In a different light, her awkward dancing might indeed torture the audience’s eyes, and by stepping away, she was actually doing a good deed.
With these thoughts, Maya sat even more comfortably on the red column, taking the opportunity to observe the other guests on stage.
Their performances were indeed impressive, quite professional. Kiki Monroe and Alisa Shelby’s dedication aside, Leo Lancaster’s slightly awkward moves suggested he wasn’t very skilled at dancing. However, his looks made his movements captivating despite their clumsiness.
Perhaps this had nothing to do with the dance moves or the music but was a reflection of his personal charm.
However, there’s talk that Leo Lancaster has been busy breaking into the international film circle recently, and this kind of popularity-boosting variety show hardly benefits him. So why would he adjust his schedule to appear here?
To Maya Monroe, this seemed like a thankless task. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Suddenly, cheers erupted from the stage. It turned out Kiki Monroe and Alisa Shelby accidentally bumped into each other but quickly recovered, resuming their exuberant dancing as if engaged in a fierce competition.
As they inadvertently exchanged glances, the air seemed to spark with a competitive spirit.
Alisa Shelby abandoned her conservative routine, showing off several difficult moves. She might look lofty and indifferent, but she cared deeply about these things and wouldn’t allow anyone to outshine her.
Kiki Monroe gritted her teeth, determined not to give up even with her energy depleting rapidly.
How could this Alisa Shelby, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, compete with her? Kiki Monroe was determined to show Alisa Shelby what a miserable fate awaited those who opposed her.
Suddenly, there was applause, not from the audience below the stage, but from Maya Monroe on stage.
"Not bad!" she shouted another compliment, clearly just enjoying the spectacle.
Maya genuinely thought their performance was excellent, the tension almost setting the air ablaze.
Kiki Monroe’s steps faltered, nearly causing her to fall. She was so angry she could have ground her teeth to dust.
What did Maya mean? She herself was giving an all-out performance in the front, while Maya sat at the back enjoying the show. This made Kiki Monroe feel extremely uncomfortable, as though she were a circus monkey.
Alisa Shelby’s face wasn’t any better.
Maya didn’t know what they were thinking. She just genuinely thought their performance was pretty good, not bad at all.
While Kiki Monroe showcased her talent on stage, Maya relaxed at the back, creating a stark contrast.
However, Maya quickly realized something was wrong, as more and more audience members turned their gaze toward her, eyes filled with curiosity or excitement.
In a particular environment, while everyone tries hard to showcase themselves, the unique outsider naturally becomes the focus of the crowd effortlessly.
Finally, the music stopped.
The next moment, the two hosts arrived at the front once again.
"Thanks to all the guests for their wonderful performance."
"Yes, besides our FREE, we also have the stars of ’Wandering Beyond the Horizon’ and Alisa Shelby." The host applauded, "It’s truly been a long time."
Following the others, Maya Monroe stood in the center of the stage again, her expression calm and with no trace of guilt from what just happened.
Bella Sanford asked everyone to introduce themselves, and when it was Maya Monroe’s turn, she couldn’t help but ask, "Maya Monroe, your dance moves are quite unique. Did you choreograph them yourself?"
Beside her, Leo Lancaster frowned, suddenly thinking that this host lacked tact.
If anyone else heard this, they might take it as an insult and be too embarrassed to respond.
However, Maya Monroe, with her notoriously thick skin, remained unfazed and admitted, "It took quite some time."
