The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 158: What to Do When Exposed
She said a lot, but not a single sentence was useful information.
The enthusiasm from the guests around Kiki Monroe visibly diminished.
Kiki Monroe noticed this, but she still continued to ramble.
She had worked hard to succeed, so why should she share her experience with them? Now that she was one of the few who had passed, if they all passed as well...
Alisa Shelby was clutching her waist on the side, casting an unkind gaze at Kiki Monroe for a few seconds.
Just now, Alisa Shelby had failed and had fallen awkwardly. Her calves and lower back were still slightly aching.
Seeing Kiki Monroe being treated like a star made her feel very uneasy...
Soon it was Maya Monroe’s turn. She wasn’t very eager and had dragged it out until the last group, but even the last group couldn’t escape the fate of participating in the game.
Leo Lancaster was beside her, sharing his successful insights and some small techniques he had developed by observing her...
Maya Monroe didn’t expect his advice to be quite reliable, though she didn’t intend to follow it.
"You’re pretty smart."
Upon hearing Maya Monroe’s compliment, Leo Lancaster was initially stunned but then smiled and said, "Take it easy, don’t put too much pressure on yourself."
"Mm..."
Miles Wallace from the Yellow Team was participating in the game with Maya Monroe.
The two walked to the balance beam together, and Miles Wallace looked at her, saying, "Good luck."
Maya Monroe remembered that they were in opposing teams. In her knowledge, she rarely encountered opponents who would cheer for her. The competitors she met in previous worlds all wanted to defeat her, seizing her resources and devouring her...
Fortunately, later on, she didn’t have much competition.
Maya Monroe smiled faintly at Miles Wallace, slightly moving her lips, which surprised him for a moment.
Brian Bennett said, "Maya Monroe and Miles Wallace are the last group, hope you achieve satisfactory filming results."
Maya Monroe, somewhat listless with her head slightly down, probably didn’t even register Brian Bennett’s words.
"Okay, the game starts!"
Simultaneously, the timer on the big screen began counting down.
2:59
Miles Wallace adjusted his state and stepped onto the balance beam. He had a natural sense of balance, and coupled with his indifferent nature, he rarely cared about anything or feared anything.
His steps were quite steady and relatively fast, almost performing the best in the field compared to previous guests.
However, his steps became slightly disordered when facing some tricky obstacles, such as wide heavy boxes blocking the balance beam or slippery soap.
On Maya Monroe’s side, things were entirely different as she hadn’t stepped onto the balance beam yet, both feet steadily planted on the stage.
Many people in the Red Team began urging her.
Bella Sanford walked over, worriedly asking, "Maya Monroe, what’s wrong, are you feeling unwell?" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"No."
Bella Sanford patted her on the shoulder: "Don’t be afraid, although the pool is deep, it’s padded with foam balls. Don’t think about anything, just walk across in one go."
Maya Monroe nodded indifferently.
After thinking for a moment, she stepped onto the balance beam.
A minute passed, and Miles Wallace had already covered half of the distance, while Maya Monroe stood at the same spot, at the head of the balance beam.
Maya Monroe suddenly lifted her right foot, making everyone think she was about to start moving, but they realized she merely twisted her ankle a few times and put it down again, showing no intention of moving forward.
Maya Monroe lightly hammered her slightly sore shoulder.
It’s hard to maintain balance solely relying on the left foot, especially on a balance beam, yet Maya Monroe didn’t react at all, her foot solidly on the beam as if there were no difference between it and the ground.
Bella Sanford became a bit anxious and came over once more.
Brian Bennett followed behind her.
"Maya Monroe, are you not feeling well?"
"Maya Monroe, hurry up! Don’t be afraid!"
"Time is almost up, hurry up!"
...
Maya Monroe heard more and more voices, not just on the field but also from some of the audience below.
Maya Monroe irritably twisted her wrist, nodding her head.
Her foot crossed over two obstacles, her steps light and casual, then her body swayed and she dropped straight to the side.
Only a few had crossed the balance beam; she wasn’t going to rush to steal the limelight!
Realizing her movements were too swift, too sudden, and might seem a bit "fake," Maya Monroe added, "Oh no!"
On the other side, hearing the sound, Miles Wallace turned his head just in time to see Maya Monroe disappear, and his heart inexplicably tightened.
His gaze stayed on the spot where Maya Monroe had been standing, unable to move for a long time.
Until Ian Brooks shouted, "Bro, are you standing there feeding mosquitoes? Move, the time is almost up!"
At this point, Maya Monroe was already at the bottom of the pool.
The staff stationed below were supposed to help her climb up along the rope.
Maya Monroe got up from the ground, absentmindedly dusted her clean hands, and glanced around.
Her demeanor was relaxed, showing none of the flustered or disappointed expression other guests had.
Maya Monroe withdrew her gaze and glanced disdainfully at the rope hanging on the pool edge.
"Is your show so poor it can’t afford a ladder?"
The camera was still rolling, making the staff nervous for a moment: "This setup is temporary, so we haven’t made it that detailed."
What to do now that it’s been exposed...
Maya Monroe slightly nodded, with no intention of continuing the inquiry.
A staff member reached out his hand: "Let me pull you up."
Maya Monroe declined: "No need."
It’s only three meters.
Evidently, Maya Monroe’s "slacking" image had taken root in everyone’s mind, as a staff member said, "You can’t just stay down there; you need to come up and continue participating in the show, Ms. Maya Monroe."
Maya Monroe gave him a perplexed look.
Then she moved forward a few steps, grabbing the rope as thick as a water pipe, placing her foot on the obvious wall protrusions, she quickly climbed up.
Her hand touched the stage surface, and she leveraged herself onto it.
The staff blankly watched Maya Monroe’s action, realizing that she took only a few seconds to climb, looking even more professional than the staff themselves.
A phrase suddenly popped into a staff member’s mind: "So cool!"
Maya Monroe soon saw a well-defined hand reaching over, with Leo Lancaster standing by.
Maya Monroe grasped his hand to get up, then let go, speaking casually: "Thanks."
Leo Lancaster’s gaze shifted slightly: "Maya, have you learned rock climbing before? Why didn’t I know..."
Maya Monroe glanced at him: "I have a wide range of hobbies, and I do enjoy sports."
Leo Lancaster paused, then asked her: "Are you feeling okay? You weren’t hurt when you fell, were you?"
"No."
Leo Lancaster was relieved.
