The Tyrannical Wolf King's Contract Bride-Chapter 98: The Benefits of Amnesia
Lila’s POV
"You didn’t want to stay in that hypocritical place any longer," Jasper’s voice was low and slow, as if he were helping me sort through the chaotic fragments of my memory. "And I... needed a wife."
His palm slid to the small of my back, holding me steady and pulling me closer to him. I could feel the rise and fall of his chest and the scorching body heat radiating from his skin.
"On our first night at Moon Hidden Villa," his voice took on a reminiscent tone, tinged with an almost imperceptible self-mockery, "we both had a few drinks. You looked so sad, as if you were running from something, yet searching for something at the same time."
I looked up, peering at him through my messy hair. His gaze was a little hazy, as if he too were lost in memory.
"We slept together," he said bluntly, without a hint of shame. Instead, he had the calm of someone stating a fact. "Perhaps, for you, it was just an indulgence meant to help you forget."
His fingers gently lifted my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze.
"Back then, you were running from a relationship, Lila. A romance that caused you great pain."
My heart skipped a beat, and a strange, sour feeling welled up from its depths.
"A... romance?" I repeated in a murmur, my mind a complete blank.
"Yes," he said, looking into my eyes and enunciating every word. "You were once deeply in love with someone. Your adoptive brother, Caleb."
It was as if a bomb had gone off in my head.
’Caleb? In love with him? How is that possible?’
"No... Impossible!" I instinctively tried to object, but my voice trembled. "He’s my brother... I always thought of him as a brother... How could I... How could I love him the way you love a man..."
’This is absurd.’ I didn’t remember any of it, but just imagining it sent a strange pang of heartache through me.
Jasper watched my panicked expression and let out a soft chuckle. He raised a hand to gently brush the messy strands of hair from my cheek, his eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions.
"I never thought amnesia would make you forget your childhood sweetheart," he murmured, his tone holding an unreadable undertone. "Thinking about it now, that’s actually for the best."
His thumb gently caressed my lips, and his gaze grew deep and dark.
"At least, now, I’m the only one in your world."
I stared into his eyes, which held a lingering golden glint, and the shame and absurdity I felt suddenly twisted into a nameless fury.
"What... What are you laughing at!" I snapped, flying into a rage out of sheer embarrassment. I raised my hand to pound on his chest and vent my frustration.
SMACK. My palm landed squarely on his pectoral muscle.
The pain I expected never came. Instead, what I felt was... incredible to the touch.
His pectoral muscles were firm and supple, like the finest jade, yet they radiated a searing heat. The sensation that spread through my palm from the impact was, unexpectedly... nice to the touch.
My hand froze involuntarily.
Jasper glanced down at my hand, which was now frozen on his chest, and the smile on his lips deepened. He took my hand and pressed it over his heart.
"How does it feel?" he asked in a low voice, his tone laced with amusement.
My face instantly flushed beet red again.
"You... You..." I stammered, unable to form a complete sentence. Finally, I threw caution to the wind and viciously squeezed his pec.
But that squeeze was like lighting a fuse.
The amusement in Jasper’s eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by a blazing fire. He abruptly seized my wrist and pulled my body even tighter against his.
"Lila," he warned, his voice low and laced with a repressed rasp, "don’t play with fire."
But I couldn’t stop.
Maybe the shock of his revelation was too much, or maybe my body’s instinctive desires had taken over completely. I stared at his face, inches from mine, and gazed into his burning eyes. The fire inside my own heart began to blaze just as fiercely.
The air between us instantly grew thick and scorching hot.
He lowered his head and captured my lips with his.
It wasn’t a gentle kiss. It was tinged with punishment and an almost desperate longing. His tongue pried my teeth apart, driving deep inside and plundering all the air from my lungs.
He kissed me until I was dizzy, my body going boneless. I could only cling to his arm subconsciously to keep myself from collapsing.
His hands roamed over my back, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. My clothes, once neat, were somehow pulled down to my waist before sliding to the floor with a soft rustle.
The moment our skin touched, we both let out a sigh of satisfaction.
His palms were scalding, covering every inch of my skin as if confirming my existence while also staking his claim. He kissed me until I couldn’t breathe, leaving me to issue broken whimpers. My body, however, honestly moved to meet his every advance.
We stumbled onto the soft, sprawling bed, sunlight spilling over our entangled bodies and bathing them in a golden halo.
The very moment our bodies fully joined, a strange sensation washed over me.
It was as if something deep within my soul had been awakened.
「My consciousness was suddenly pulled into a strange space.」
Here, there was a silver wilderness. The sky and the earth were both a pure, silvery white. A gentle breeze swept by, carrying a cool and familiar scent.
I looked down and was shocked to find I was no longer in human form.
I had become a wolf.
My fur was silver-gray, soft as a cloud, and it rippled gently in the silver-tinged wind. My limbs were strong and powerful, my tail lush and beautiful.
I stood there, at a loss, gazing at this world that was both strange and familiar.
Then, I heard a low howl.
The sound held a note of joy, a touch of adoration, and an unquestionable authority.
I turned my head and saw another, enormous Silver Wolf emerging from the silvery wind.
It was Jasper, the man I had just been with in the room, but his form here was at least three times larger than reality.
He walked up to me, lowered his head, and nuzzled my cheek affectionately with his enormous lupine head. His fur was coarse and warm, carrying a scent that put me at ease.
Looking at him, I felt no fear at all. Instead, a powerful sense of familiarity washed over me. I stuck out my tongue and clumsily licked the tip of his nose.
He let out a low growl that sounded like a laugh.
Then he lay down beside me, curling his body around mine. I naturally leaned against him, soaking in his warmth. In this silver wilderness, we were like the most intimate of mates, grooming each other’s fur and licking each other’s wounds.
The feeling was peaceful, serene, and filled with an inexpressible happiness.
It was as if I had returned to a time long, long ago, back to when my parents were still alive, playing with me in the garden.
We played to our hearts’ content in this silver realm, freely expressing our affection for one another.
I don’t know how much time passed before the silver wilderness began to slowly dissipate.
My body felt a heavy sensation, and my consciousness returned to reality.
I was still in his arms, still beneath him.
We were pressed tightly together, our sweat mingling, our breaths entwined. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
He lowered his head to look at me, his eyes still holding the lingering traces of that golden glint, and a deep, profound love.
"Welcome back, Lila."
