Chapter 93: Global pandemic

The once grand building of energy source for the three continents of enders was now half destroyed. Several black SUVS lined up at the parking spot in the spacious warehouse.

Most damaged with shattered glasses, flat tires in bad shape. Along with the multiple official delivery vans all immobilized in spot.

Clang! Clang!

The creaking of an object could be heard as an object descended down the two huge pipes. Located a bit from the parking lot connected to a section of the grand building.

Argh! Keyes grunted crashing back first to the dumpster at the end of the long pipe filled with waste materials.

Luckily there was a dumpster here.

It was a great relief knowing she landed in a dumpster and not some chemical waste as these pipes usually ran to some nuclear dump from refining the energy cores. About two seconds later the creaking sound from the pipes made way to her ears as another descended from it.

Shit! I think I fractured my ass. Jik groaned landing in a more precarious position.

Stop being a fat baby. We have to get out of here, the noise would’ve attracted nearby zombies. Peeping from the small holes at the side of the large dumpster there was no signs of any flesh eaters nearby.

It looks clear, lets go. Taking a last check, she jumped out from the dumpsters. Landing on her feet, then helping her partner out. Luckily the dumpster wasn’t that tall enough to cause serious injuries from the fall or it would’ve definitely been a problem.

Advancing towards the parking lot the distance was relatable shorter to their advantage reaching in no time.

There should be a car that isn’t completely damaged. Look around. Not arguing jik alongside keyes checked nearby cars. Maintaining a distance of only two meters apart. Not affording to take much risk of getting separated or worse, victims of the wandering monsters around.

i-i think I found one. Jik enthusiastically spoke receiving a wicked glare from keyes as she rushed over.

Be quiet or they’ll hear us moron. Ignoring him she checked the SUV seeing it was surprisingly in optimal condition. Not a broken window, dented part flat tires, or a single scratch to say the least.

Well, what are the odd. A sly smirk formed to her lips. Get in and start it on my mark.

Nodding jik seated on the driver’s seat while keyes made her way to the trunk. Popping it open and hurriedly glancing through the engine.

It seems fine.. there was no damage whatsoever she could spot or signs it had been tampered with. Which gave her somewhat hope of the vehicle working.

Alright, here goes nothing.. start it. She ordered signaling jik whom pushed the start button besides the wheel. The engine sputtering a bit upon touch like a broken mechanism.

Come on.. work you piece of shit! Keyes frowned hitting the engine with her empty assault rifle. Triggering it to make two pop sounds. With the sputtering engine roaring back to life.

Yes! A ray of hope shone in her eyes popping the trunk close. Attempting to make her way in she stopped, her expression frozen staring ahead.

Dammit why now? She inwardly cursed seeing an armless zombie at the back of the car. Calmly making its way to the rear left car door approaching the unaware jik. Its movements were slow like the rest with thick blood drooling down its mouth.

What the hell is she doing? Jik wondered watching keyes abrupt movements. It was no doubt the loud noise from the car’s ignition would’ve attracted zombies to their location. Which made him wonder why she suddenly crouched down.

Wait a minute.. his eyes widened a bit realizing something.

Grll.. a low guttural groan made its way to his ears from the window. And he didn’t need to look to have an idea what it was.

Shit! Shit! She fucking left me.. jik panicked tightly gripping the steering wheel. Just as he saw his life flash before his eyes keyes emerged from behind the zombie. Plunging the tip of a metal pipe to its head.

Why is it this hard? She gritted her teeth struggling to inch the metal pipe much deeper to its skull. Enraged the armless zombie retaliated pushing keyes back despite lacking arms. Using its head with the tip of the pipe stuck in.

Die you fucking undead! Jik screamed out from the car furiously stabbing his short knife to the monster head. But just like with the pipe the knife stopped midway through. Leaving the zombie still alive and more enraged.

Hold him! Keyes shouted leaving the pipe stuck in the zombie’s head and crouching down.

What the hell keyes! Jik yelled in frustration having no choice but to follow keyes command.

Grah! Grah..

The grip on the zombie wasn’t solid but enough to keep it in place. For a temporary amount of time as the savage struggled to break free.

Come on.. reaching for her Swiss knife jik managed to kick the zombie one-foot down reading keyes intentions. His hands gripping the zombie whilst being careful enough to avoid a bite.

Roar roar..

The strength contained in the zombie was far more than keyes nor jik. Shaking uncontrollably in a distorted manner to break free. Which worked causing jik to lose his balance nudged to the ground.

Not hesitating it lashed out to bite keyes but she was prepared. Evading the zombie mouth and slashing the knife downwards to the creature’s head. Adding every bit of her strength to finish it off before it overpowered her.

I think am going to be sick. He held the urge not to barf gazing at the decapitated zombie’s head. Even when dead there was still this weird look in it’s eyes.

Come on we have to leave. Helping jik up they approached the car unaware of the underlying threat hidden below in the shadows. Opening the door jik had successfully entered through the driver’s seat with keyes following suit.

What the- feeing something grab her legs her face went pale knowing what it was. With a firm pull she fell to the ground about to be pounced upon by the stealth zombie.

Bang! Before the miniature zombie could feed a bullet made its way directly into its skull.

Bullseye! A feminine voice exclaimed, soft footsteps making its way to keyes.

Need a hand? She asked.

Not answering keyes blankly stared at this young female. She was putting on the same elite crows uniform, holding the same weapons she used. A creepy smile spread across her face.

Oh I almost forgot to introduce myself. Am major Xin Zhou, of the fifth division. She boldly spoke as if declaring a speech stretching her hand. Making the atmosphere weirder than before.

Sergeant keyes of the first division.

f-first division.. her brows twitched a bit, the smile on her face disappearing instantly. That must mean you were close with the commander. The one and only max crow.

Hearing her it was keyes expression which turned pale. "Yes. We should get out of here."

Leave? But what about the commander, and the others?

There are no others, orders are to return back to base. you can stay here for all I care.

But- xin frowned halting from inquiring further getting in the backseat of the car along with the duo.

Putting the gear in reverse keyes pulled out from the parking lot. Skillfully making her way past some obstacles on the road reaching the exit. There were two mindless flesh eaters wandering at the gates. Which were easily taken care of by keyes running them down.

I cant believe we made it from that hellhole. Jik sighed in reflief finally leaving the premises of the once great enders power plant.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several explosions went off from the building the next second which lit up in flames. A mixture of green and red smoke polluting the air behind.

Yeah.. me too. Keyes muttered a single tear slipping down her cheeks.

----------------------------

Meanwhile~

At the entrance to harum city located in Agathe continent. A figure slowly made it’s way to the gates.

Hey! Take a load at that~ a young male soldier uttered hinting at the incoming figure.

Fucking junkie. His partner scoffed taking a puff from his pipe.

Should we arrest him?

No~ they won’t learn unless you teach them a lesson. Placing the pipe on the hood of his car. He calmly made his way to the still moving figure with it’s head held down.

What the hell is he on? The movements of the latter were slow and disoriented. Lacking power and pace but somehow had direction.

Before it had been moving in a zigzag patter as if searching for something. But switched, now walking straight towards him.

Hey stop right there. He ordered but the figure paid no heed still moving.

Take another step and I’ll shoot. Pulling out his hand gun he took aim. Fingers tightly wrapped around the trigger.

Stopping the figure then slowly lifted it’s head up. Revealing a horrific sight from nightmares.

What the- before he could process what was happening the monster’s pace increased greatly. Moving faster than a normal human covering a lot more distance.

Bang bang!

Two gunshot sound echoed with the clanging of two shell clips hitting the ground. The grosteque male body falling to the ground.

What the hell? Fin the younger of the two soldiers frowned. At first he could clearly see his superior ordering the individual to halt which he paid no heed.

And the next moment two bullets made it’s way to him.

Call in HQ.

But-

Now boy! Dimer yelled to which fin nodded signalling headquarters through the dispatch radio in the truck.

Something’s not right. Dimer thought staring at the lifeless body. It’s face was nothing human but an abomination.

Crouching down he attempted to take a sample from the red liquid dripping from the side of it’s mouth.

Shit. A light gasp escaped his mouth seeing the dead body eyes flung open. It’s half ripped hand grabbing his neck, sinking it’s horrid teeth to his neck.

Argh! He screamed blasting off shots to the creatures body to no avail. The tight grip crushing his neck with ease as the zombie devoured him.

Status report.

T-this is private fin of the east division. There’s been an outbreak at the gates.

I see.. what’s the scale? The female at the other end calmly asked. Gulping hard he struggled to keep his shaking hand straight.

It’s a global pandemic
