The Unstoppable Comeback Of the Unrivaled Ex-Wife-Chapter 625
Ace could never say nice things.
When Joanna heard his words, she felt annoyed. "Mr. Moran, you’re from a noble family, so why would you say such vulgar things? I’m not having an affair."
Joanna took a step towards him and sneered, full of ridicule." Even if I did, it has nothing to do with you. What right do you have to criticize me?"
"What right do I have?" Ace said lightly, "I’m your cousin-in- law, if you think about it. I saw my cousin-in-law hugging another man, so don’t I have the right to criticize you?
"Cousin-in-law?" Joanna’s lips twitched. How could he be so shameless and arrogant?
"Is there a problem?" Ace raised his brows and asked snidely. "Aren’t you madly in love with my missing cousin? He only just went missing, but you’re already getting into a passionate relationship with another man. Shouldn’t you give me an explanation?"
"How ridiculous! Ace, shouldn’t you explain yourself given how you took liberties with me, your so- called cousin-in-law? " Joanna felt that he was a hypocritical person with double standards. Besides, she hadn’t done anything wrong, and he had taken advantage of her countless times.
"What should I explain?" Ace did not want to say much, so he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. "Come with me, and I’ll explain it to you."
After that, he pulled Joanna away.
"What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?" Joanna refused to go with him, so she tried to break free from his grasp.
Ace never submitted to others’ wishes, but he surprisingly agreed to hers, and it caught her off guard. "You must explain yourself after I do. Fair and square." Ace ignored her protests and insisted on pulling her away.
"Let go of her!" Haze had been watching everything unfold, and couldn’t stand aside and do nothing now. If he did, he would lose his future wife. He blocked Ace’s path. "Can’t you see that she doesn’t want to go with you? It’s illegal to disobey a woman’s wishes, and I can call the police to arrest you." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Ace stopped and stared at Haze coldly. "Go ahead. If you’re not going to do it, get out of my way. This is Beach City where my family rules, and it’s no place for your Baldwin family to behave recklessly."
"Is that so, Mr. Moran? Are you still under the illusion that your family is prospering and thriving?"
Haze’s gaze was resentful and provoking. "Did you forget that the Moran family suffered a terrible loss these past two years, which your family only managed to resolve by having an alliance marriage with the Murphy family? Now you’re facing so many enemies, and yet you still claim that the City is ruled by the Moran family."
’Yes, the Moran family has a lot of enemies, and it’s fine if your family is one of them too. Come at me then, if you really think I’m so powerless."
The two men glared at each other icily, and the atmosphere became tense and dangerous.
Stuck in the middle, Joanna was forced to mediate the situation. "Okay, there’s no need to argue like children. Take a step back and it’ll be a win-win situation. Isn’t that nice? There are so many resources for you guys to share, so one will be left out. You guys don’t have to fight against each other, both of you will suffer losses this way."
The Moran and the Baldwin families had been sworn enemies for the past few decades, but the Pierce family had mediated the situation between them so they had not gotten into any conflict so far.
Joanna did not wish to see them fight against each other when their families had been at peace with each other for so many years. "The Moran and Baldwin families have different territories. Just develop your area well, and you’ll get your own profit. There’s no need to fight, and maybe you can even cooperate to create a win-win situation..." Joanna earnestly tried to persuade them.
Haze looked at Joanna and said firmly, "You’re wrong. My family is filthy rich, so I’m not fighting him for the money." He then looked at Ace. "Mr. Moran, I don’t mind losing money if you’re willing to let me have what I want."
Ace narrowed his eyes and sneered menacingly, "Try and snatch it if you can, but cut the crap if you can’t."
Joanna was worried that they might fight each other, so she hurriedly said, "Haze, wait for me. I’ll speak to him for a while."
Haze was fuming with anger and was about to fight Ace, but this was the first time Joanna had considered his feelings and explained herself to him, so he was no longer angry. Smirking, he said triumphantly, "Sure, go on then. I’ll wait for you here until you come back."
Joanna sighed helplessly. ’Haze always makes things so awkward.’
Ace impatiently dragged Joanna away, and they soon arrived at a spacious and remote area.
Ace finally let go of her hand and explained solemnly," Yeah, I did take liberties with you previously because you were too charming. I felt that your gaze, behavior, and soul were trying to seduce me. I failed to hold myself back, and gave in to your seduction. It was my fault, so let me apologize to you."
"Umm... what exactly are you talking about?" Joanna did not expect that he would say such an outrageous thing. He was an arrogant man, but he had bluntly admitted to falling for her charms.
"Didn’t I make myself clear? You’re a very charming woman. You can move me even if you do nothing. Well, I could be wrong, but you need to be held responsible too," Ace repeated sincerely.
Joanna blushed as she smoothed her hair and grinned. "Well, look at you! It’s a known fact that I’m charming. I can’t help it, I’m sorry. I’ll hold myself back next time, so you won’t be tempted..."
"That’s more like it." Ace then grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, his gaze intense. "So, can you explain now?"
His unique scent was coupled with the familiar scent of grass, which Joanna had never smelled on any other man. The calming scent always eased her frustration, and it had bewitched her more than once.
"I... What should I explain?" Joanna turned away and avoided Ace’s intense gaze. She did not want sparks to fly between them again, or else she’d make the same mistake.
"What’s your relationship with Justin? Why did you hug each other?" Ace growled, cornering her like a predator. He had to get to the bottom of it.
Annoyed, Joanna scowled at him. "It’s none of your business.
I don’t owe you an explanation."
"I told you-l’m your cousin-in-law. My family will be humiliated if you cheat on Jovan."
