The Vampire King's Possession-Chapter 69 - . Vampire Lords
Chapter 69: 69. Vampire Lords
Mauve slipped out of bed and walked to the tub with the help of Mill. She was still very tired, she felt like she had been run over by a carriage. She put her hands over her mouth as she yawned.
She sat in the tub and sighed out loud as the water warmed her up and soothed how sore she felt downstairs. Mill quickly washed her up and scrubbed her clean.
Mauve sat on the bed with a towel tied around her chest as she watched Mill rummage through the wardrobe for something for her to wear. The top half of her frame was all the way into the wardrobe and Mauve wondered how she could see with such little light.
Mill pulled out a dress and held it up. "What do you think?"
Mauve winced at the color. It was the color of sunflowers. "Too bright. I will look like a lost sunflower."
"It will bring out your cheeks." Mill grinned and shook the dress.
"Not happening, something darker should do the trick." Mauve tried to sound stern but there was laughter in her voice.
This was a little unusual as Vae often chose her dresses without her opinion but that was because she never knew what she wanted and she was fine with Vae's choices. However, she wouldn't wear that yellow dress even if her life depended on it.
Mill returned the dress and pulled out a lilac dress. Mauve brought her hands to her chin as she thought. "It will do," she mumbled.
Mill grinned in response and walked towards her with the dress. She placed it on the bed and help Mill into her undergarments before stepping into the dress. Mill was quick about it and she had absolutely no problems with the corset.
She had screamed when Mill had cinched it a little too tight and the woman had apologized profusely about it.
"I guess a vampire's strength doesn't matter if you are male or female." Mauve said when her sides stopped hurting.
"Well, your blood determines how strong you can get."
Mauve turned to look at Mill, "What does that mean?" She asked with a frown.
"Exactly what it means." Mill held her hands and led her to the dresser. She sat Mauve in front of the mirror.
"Vampire Lords aren't Lords because they can afford to be Lords, they are Lords because of their blood and Our King has the purest blood there is."
Mauve stared at her with a puzzled expression, half of what Mill said didn't make any sense to her. "How can you tell?"
"His blood commands."
"What?" Mauve turned around and Mill smacked her head with the hairbrush as she tried to brush Mauve's hair at the same time.
"Ow!" Mauve cried and grabbed her scalp.
"Sorry, Mauve," Mill said but Mauve could hear the laughter in her voice.
Mauve chuckled and rubbed her scalp, "I guess that was my fault. What about you Mill?"
"What about me?" She asked, her expression turned sour.
Mauve blinked as she stared at Mill in the mirror. "Um, what about your blood?"
Mill went quiet and Mauve swallowed the rest of her questions. Mill finished brushing her hair and took a step back.
"Would you like to have the second meal in the dining hall?" Mill asked.
Mauve closed her eyes as she realized she had done it again. She asked a question she shouldn't have.
"I am sorry Mill," she mumbled. "I shouldn't have asked that."
"It is fine. I will bring your meal up."
"Don't, I will eat in the hall."
Mill gave her a sad smile and nodded. "It will be time for the second meal in less than ten minutes," She then picked up the tub and walked out of the room.
Mauve stared at her reflection with a solemn look. She always did this. She covered her face with her palm and groaned. She raised her head and adjusted her hair, flipping the strands from her face.
She pushed herself off the dresser's seat and checked herself one more time. She was glad her hair covered her neck, the marks were still bright, and they could be seen from a mile away.
Mill had not said anything about them but Mauve was positive that she had seen them. It was literally glaring. She arranged her hair so more fell forward and she walked towards the door.
Mauve held her dress up as she walked down the stairs. She took it one step at a time, considering how antsy she felt, she would not be surprised if she tripped.
She got to the front of the dining hall without incident and frowned. There was nobody in front of the door. Did that mean she was early? She turned around but there was nobody in sight.
She pulled the doors and they opened. The plates were laid out but the hall was also empty. She squinted, however, she didn't want to go back to her room. She wouldn't come back out and she was sick of staying in there.
She got comfortable in her usual seat and stared around. It was funny how they only used half of this table and there were still about two others lined up. She wondered if they ever used the rest.
The door opened and the servants walked in holding trays. They walked in in a single file and placed the food on the table. None said a word to her and she sat with her head bent.
She had seen a couple of them a few times but she only knew Yasmin and that was because she had heard a name when Jael called her name. She raised her head a little but her eyes flickered around as she avoided eye contact.
Mauve heard the doors open and her face lit up until she looked at the door and saw Erick strutting inside. She glared at him and threw her face away.
All the servants immediately stopped what they were doing and bowed to him. They didn't stop until he was about to take a seat. He sat across her without a word and she pretended she couldn't him.
She looked up at the ceiling, at the servants and plates just so wouldn't at him while his gaze from her never wavered. She looked to the doors and prayed that someone else will come in.
"You smell different," he said to her. He didn't look too pleased about this
Mauve turned to look at him with a jerk as her brows dipped. Before she could ask what he meant by that the door opened. Damon and Danag strutted into the dining hall side by side.
"Princess," Danag called as soon as he saw her.
She smiled brightly at him, her face lighting up immediately.
"I haven't seen you in a while. I heard your maid left," his eyes looked sad as he mentioned Vae.
Maàuve's lips turned to a thin line as she tried to not show how sad she truly was about the situation. "Yeah," she heard herself say.
Danag walked towards the table and sat next to Erick who glanced in Danag's direction with a bland expression but there was a hint of a smile on his lips.
"Thank you for taking her, Damon," she said with a grateful gaze.
Damon shrugged, "It wasn't a favor."
"I heard you got injured because of it," she added.
"I am fine," he added gruffly.
"Having a human worry for you, just how low have you fallen?" Erick sneered.
"At least I have gone against a paler," Damon said and glanced at Erick with a raised brow.
"Who hasn't here?" His voice thundered in the hall.
"Alone," Damon replied unblinkingly.
"Enough with both of you," Danag growled. "Sire will be here soon."
The words had barely left his mouth when the doors opened and Jael walked in. Mauve looked up and her face broke into a bright smile. He saw her immediately and raised a brow at her.

Mauve immediately threw her reddened face away as the incident of last night surfaced in her memories. The guards stood up while she remained seated. She could feel Erick's glare but she refused to move an inch. Who is to say the incident of last time will not repeat itself?
Jael took a seat but she refused to look at him. She couldn't. It didn't help that she could tell he was staring pretty hard at her.
A servant walked to Jael and poured the dish into his plates. He then did the same to the rest of the guards before her even though she was closer.
It didn't bother her though, the point was she still got served. The vampires were treating her better than her own kind.
She took her cutlery and dug into the meal. She chewed, it was delicious. Hats off to the chef she could never get over the meals.
"A paler was sighted," Erick said halfway through the meal.
