The Vampire King's Possession-Chapter 70 - . Not Just A Warning
Chapter 70: 70. Not Just A Warning
"A paler was sighted," Erick said halfway through the meal.
Jael's glare was instantaneous, Mauve wouldn't have seen it if she wasn't sneaking a look at him. She felt cold and watched Erick shrink back and return to his meal. The rest of the meal was in complete silence.
Mauve finished quickly, she wanted to leave the awkward scene. She dropped her cutlery and stood to her feet. Jael raised a brow at her but she didn't hold his gaze. She did a slight curtsey and fled the dining hall with her dress slightly raised.
The guards held the door open for her and she slowed down her pace as she walked past the dimly lit ballroom. She tried not to look into the corners, they always made her feel as though something was going to jump out of them.
She climbed up the stairs and into her room. She threw the door open and made her way to her bed, she sat on it and stared around her room as she wondered what she would do.
She picked up the lamp and made her way out of the room. She went up the stairs and instead of going to the library, she looked around. There wasn't anybody in sight but just to be safe she checked again as her face reddened and her heart began to race.
She took the next flight of stairs and stopped at the last step. She was surprised she could find her way this easily but by remembering the feeling of being carried she knew she was right.
She lifted the lamp to see the top of the stairs and sure enough, there was a closed door. Mauve darted her eyes around and took a step up the stairs. As soon as her feet touched the first step, her light went out as though someone had blown on it.
Mauve screamed and started to fall backward. "What are you doing here?" She heard his voice directly in her ear as he caught her.
She jerked in his arms and tried to stand upright but he didn't let her go. He lifted her completely off the floor and Mauve squealed in fright.
"Could it be that you find it thrilling to go against my order?"
"No," Mauve cried. "I was just curious."
"Even though I told you not to go."
"I just wanted to see if I could find the way, I had no intention of going out there."
The dark was unnerving, the fact that it made no difference if she opened her eyes or not was slightly annoying. He didn't have to put off her light, she had actually thought she was in danger.
"You are lying," he said and started walking away from the stairs.
"You can tell?" She asked with fascination in her voice.
"You are supposed to say no," he sounded stern.
Mauve shrank into his arms. "I am sorry, I just don't have anything to do."
"Use the library."
"It is always dark and I want to go outside," she blurted out. Mauve covered her hands with her lips as she realized what she had just said.
"It won't be ready for at least another three days and I'll tell the servants to light up the library every day. Anything else?"
She could feel his gaze on her face and she immediately felt cold. "No," she mumbled.
"It is bothersome when you explicitly go against my orders. Next time you won't get off with just a warning."
"That's what you said last time," she heard herself say before she could stop herself.
He pushed her against the wall and Mauve winced at the slight pain but before she could react, he covered her lips with his and pushed his hand against the front of her dress. He squeezed.
Mauve gasped but that sound barely left her throat as Jael rummaged her lips and the inside of her mouth.
"Sire," a voice echoed in the dark.
Mauve immediately reddened when she heard Damon's voice. This was becoming a routine she was not pleased about. Jael however, didn't stop. It was less embarrassing because it was dark but she knew Damon could see her clearly.
"We need to leave now," Damon added.
Jael broke the kiss and touched her chin. "I will meet you at the front door in minutes."
His face was still against hers. She could feel his breath on her lips as he spoke and her eyes darkened at the fact that their lips were that close but weren't touching. His hand on her bosom didn't move and Mauve felt him squeeze some more.
"Yes, Sire," Damon said. She could tell he was walking away even though she couldn't hear him leave.
Jael gently carried her and she sank into his arms. She was certain that her legs weren't working. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest.
She heard the door open and he placed her on the bed. Mauve covered her face. He didn't say a word, he just walked out and the reason she knew he had left was because of the sound of the door opening and closing.
She removed her hands from her face and glared at the door. She was embarrassed that she had wanted more. There was definitely something wrong with her, she should be angry not blushing like a child.
A loud knock rapt her from her thoughts. "Come in," she said without moving.
Mill came in and closed the door behind her, "The library is all lit up princess. You can go in anytime you want."
Mauve immediately sat upright, "Thank you."
Mill nodded and walked to the door. Mauve watched Mill leave the room and then she threw herself against the bed. She pulled her knees to her chest. She didn't understand Jael one bit.
She lay there for a while and then she jumped out of the bed and prepared to head for the library. She could stay in the room and she needed some kind of distraction.
She picked up the books she had brought from the library earlier. She was done reading them. Well, just two out of the three she brought, the other was in the language she didn't understand.
As she carried them, she wondered if she should ask Jael to read it to her. She winced at the thought and rushed out of the room.
She got to the door of the library and swallowed before she pushed the door open. The books slipped from her hands and landed on the floor just barely missing her feet.
Mauve stared up at the ceiling of the library while she was still standing at the library's entrance. Her mouth fell open and she took a step in and spun around as she tried to get a better look. There was a chandelier of candles hanging on the ceiling, this was enough to give the library enough light, however, it wasn't the only light. Every other lamp had been turned on.
Mauve spent over ten minutes admiring the library before she got herself. She rushed back to the door and picked up the fallen books. She placed them where she had picked them from as she began to search for something to read.
She found something in no time and sat on the desk where she buried her head in the book and began to read.
Mauve heard the door open but her brain did not register it.
"Mauve," Mill called but she didn't stir.
"Maybe," Mill tried again, this time she touched Mauve as she spoke.
Mauve literally jumped out of her seat in fright but immediately calmed down when she saw it was Mill.
"My apologies," said a giggling Mill, and Mauve was certain she wasn't sorry. "I called you and you didn't respond."
"I didn't hear you," she said, glaring at Mill who was laughing at her misfortune. Mauve could not understand vampires and the joy they got out of frightening her.
"I know now. I don't mean to interrupt your reading session but the last meal is ready."
"Okay," Mauve said and shooed Mill with her hand and sat back, she immediately returned to reading. "I will join them in the hall."
"I am afraid that won't be possible, Mauve." Mill said and Mauve jerked her head from the book she was reading.
"Why?" She asked with a frown.
"The King gave strict orders for your meal to be served in your room if he was running late and they are." Mill explained.

Her brows deepened, "Where did they go?" She asked.
"Outside the castle," Mill responded.
Mauve felt her heart race increase.
"This isn't unusual," Mill quickly added. "Sometimes they get delayed but they will be here before sunrise. It will be lonely to eat alone in that huge dining hall."
"He is not alone?" She asked.
"Of course, his guards are with him. You have nothing to worry about. They are not his personal guards for nothing. Rumor has it that they are the best in the region."
Mauve expression softened. "That's relieving, I'll have my meal in my room. Thank you."
