The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 338: Christina Lynch Comes to Apologize
By tacit agreement, they didn’t bring up what had happened. They continued to dutifully play their roles as father and mother, accompanying Ian as he studied and played.
However, Naomi Kenway could feel that Ethan Shaw’s attitude toward her hadn’t changed much. He avoided sensitive topics, but he was as thoughtful as ever, perhaps even more so.
He no longer sent roses with special meaning or spoke of taking their relationship to the next level. But he insisted on washing her feet and giving her a massage when Naomi Kenway was tired. He was working hard on his cooking, and his former culinary disasters had now evolved into something quite presentable.
Naomi Kenway felt like a frog being slowly boiled in warm water. The analogy wasn’t perfect, but she could feel Ethan Shaw’s presence unconsciously seeping into her life. She was gradually getting used to him being there.
Naomi Kenway said nothing more, as she was adapting well to their current arrangement. There was no need to rush into thinking about the future; what mattered most was living in the moment.
Watching the cartoon, Ian suddenly said, "Daddy is a big tree, Mommy is a flower, and Ian is a little butterfly."
His voice was bright and clear, his expression serious.
Naomi Kenway tilted her head and asked him, "Why is Daddy a big tree, Mommy a flower, and Ian a little butterfly?"
Ethan Shaw paused the TV at just the right moment.
Ian explained, "Daddy is tall, so he’s the big tree. Mommy is pretty, so she’s a beautiful flower everyone loves. And Ian is the little butterfly that stays right beside Daddy and Mommy."
Ethan Shaw chuckled at the apt analogy. He glanced at the screen, where a large tree and a flower nestled together while a brightly colored butterfly fluttered around them.
The heartwarming image made Ethan Shaw’s gaze soften even more.
The butler approached from the doorway and bowed. "Sir, Madam. Mrs. Lucy Summers and Mr. Christina Lynch from the Lynch family are here to visit. They said they came to apologize in person."
Naomi Kenway and Ethan Shaw exchanged a glance, both seeing a flicker of confusion in the other’s eyes.
Ethan Shaw frowned slightly. "What is he here to apologize for?"
He looked up at the butler. "Did they say anything else?"
The butler shook his head. "Only that they’ve come to apologize. They have gifts with them. Should I show them in?"
Naomi Kenway sneered. ’What’s Christina Lynch up to? He just had a fight with me today, and now he shows up at my door? Is this some new trick? Though, Lucy Summers doesn’t seem like the type to go along with his nonsense.’ Naomi Kenway lowered her gaze. "Let them in. I’d like to see what they’re up to."
At her words, Ethan Shaw’s eyes turned cold. He repeated, "Let them in."
The butler left the living room. A few minutes later, Lucy Summers entered, with Christina Lynch in tow.
Lucy Summers was dressed in an exquisite and sharp outfit. Though nearly fifty, she looked energetic and spirited. The bright red lipstick she wore gave her a vibrant complexion, and her face was fixed with a perfectly appropriate smile.
Christina Lynch followed closely behind her, his usual arrogance and conceit completely gone. He was slightly hunched over, looking listless. His steps were small, but his eyes couldn’t help darting around, taking in his surroundings.
One look, and his heart sank halfway to his stomach.
Lucy Summers stepped forward and spoke first. "It’s wonderful that both President Shaw and Mrs. Shaw are here. And this must be Ian, right? He’s absolutely adorable. You can tell just by looking at him that he’s a sharp one!"
Ethan Shaw was in no mood for pleasantries. "Mrs. Lynch, what brings you here?"
"I’m so sorry to disturb you, President Shaw, Mrs. Shaw." Lucy Summers forced a smile. "We’ve come today to apologize." She sighed. "It’s all my brother-in-law’s fault. He’s young, hot-headed, and reckless. He overstepped his bounds and offended you. Please allow me to apologize on his behalf first."
Naomi Kenway chuckled. She found it increasingly amusing to watch Christina Lynch cowering behind Lucy Summers like a frightened quail. He certainly hadn’t been this timid earlier.
"He’s forty years old and still ’young and hot-headed’? If we’re comparing ages, Mr. Lynch is more than a decade older than me. Besides, isn’t he the one who made the mistake? Why is it you, Mrs. Lynch, who’s apologizing for him?"
Lucy Summers’s expression didn’t show the slightest hint of annoyance, but Christina Lynch’s face contorted through several emotions.
"I heard about what happened today. It was all Christina’s fault for being so reckless. His brother and I have already scolded him for it several times."
With that, Lucy Summers turned and barked at Christina Lynch, "What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and apologize to President Shaw and Mrs. Shaw."
Christina Lynch bowed low. When he straightened up, his face was pale. "It’s all my fault. I was blind and failed to recognize your importance. If I had known, I would never have offended you. Please, forgive me, President Shaw..."
He then turned to Naomi Kenway. "Mrs. Shaw..."
Naomi Kenway wasn’t buying his pitiful act one bit. She let out a laugh. "Oh, dear. Look at our Best Actor Lynch, his face is so pale. Butler, quick, have them take a seat."
The heavy weight in Christina Lynch’s and Lucy Summers’s hearts finally lifted. Just as they were about to joyfully sit down, they heard the rest of Naomi Kenway’s sentence: "We wouldn’t want Best Actor Lynch’s legs to get sore. He might start pointing and cursing at us again. As for your apology, I really can’t accept it. Best Actor Lynch thinks so highly of himself. Why would a household name like him suddenly apologize to us? Aren’t you honoring us far too much?"
Christina Lynch didn’t dare to sit. The color drained from his face, leaving it deathly pale.
Lucy Summers also grew flustered. She had the sharp sense that this matter couldn’t be resolved with a simple apology and some gifts.
"Mrs. Shaw, please, calm down. It was all Christina’s fault for being so reckless. I’ll make sure his brother gives him a good talking-to when we get back. I was just wondering..." Her eyes were pleading. "What would it take for you to not be angry anymore? Our families have always been on such good terms. The Lynch Family and the Shaw Family have quite a few partnerships. We can’t let this incident damage our relationship."
"That reminds me." Naomi Kenway turned to Ethan Shaw. "How many partnerships do we have with the Lynch Family? Are they indispensable for those projects? Can we find a replacement? After all, Best Actor Lynch clearly can’t stand us. He’s bound to badmouth us behind our backs."
Ethan Shaw nodded. "Two or three. Replacing them wouldn’t be difficult."
"No, no, please don’t!" Lucy Summers said frantically. She shot Christina Lynch a vicious glare that, this time, didn’t look like part of an act.
A worried look also crossed Christina Lynch’s face. "This is my personal issue. You can’t drag the Lynch Family into it..."
"What’s this? Are you starting to blame us now?"
Naomi Kenway shot him a lazy, deliberate glance.
Christina Lynch knew he had misspoken and looked utterly chagrined.
Lucy Summers pushed him aside. "I am so sorry, Mrs. Shaw..."
She placed the gift box on the table. "Inside are some nourishing supplements I carefully selected. There are two wild ginseng roots that are quite aged. You and President Shaw work so hard, you should take more care of your health."
"Take your gifts back. I’m not as pathetic as Christina Lynch made me out to be. We have a whole cabinet full of wild ginseng like this at home."
Naomi Kenway raised her voice. "Butler, see them out!"
"Wait." Lucy Summers turned her hopeful gaze to Ethan Shaw. "President Shaw..."
"My wife speaks for me."
