The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss-Chapter 156: Authorities [2]
Sasha quietly stepped out of the carriage.
"Thank you."
Politely bowing towards the driver, her legs moved as she headed towards the biggest building on the street.
On the way, she could see that the entire street was filled with men in uniform, as everyone did their own work.
Though many looked up to notice Sasha walking between them.
Now, Sasha wasn’t someone who liked attention, but being one of the few victims who had actually survived the attack had made her pretty famous among the authorities.
Most of the soldiers easily recognised her, with many having a look of pity in their eyes as they watched the girl heading toward the main office.
For the last few days, Sasha had been repeatedly visiting the office, making every possible attempt to learn about the leads discovered in the investigation.
And honestly, she was someone who deserved to know what was happening behind closed doors.
But...
This case wasn’t about some random outlaws.
It was an organised crime—one which had shaken the entire empire.
Sasha too had noticed the several sympathetic gazes directed at her, not that she wanted any of them.
She wasn’t interested in their pity...
She wanted justice.
For herself and several others who fell to the blades of those despicable scums.
Men with no honour.
"Miss?"
The guard at the entrance of the main base of the authorities in the capital city looked at Sasha as she was about to enter the building.
"You didn’t have to come yourself. When any result is achieved, I will personally—"
"Thank you for your kind gesture, but my legs are capable enough to witness everything with my own eyes."
Sasha politely declined any words of advice that the guard was planning to give her.
The guard, hearing Sasha’s words, slightly nodded his head in defeat before letting her enter the building.
As Sasha walked through the entrance, she could see men and women in military uniforms moving across the vast halls, trying to complete their end of the work with utmost efficiency.
"You?"
A female soldier stopped midway as she noticed Sasha standing just near the door.
"Um... hey."
Sasha awkwardly greeted the soldier, who quickly walked towards her.
"Now, that’s some consistency for sure! Trust me, you are perfect for jobs requiring discipline, as it takes my entire family to shake me before I wake up from my sleep, which never seems to end."
The soldier joked around, trying to lighten the mood, to which Sasha chuckled in return.
It wasn’t like the female officer didn’t take Sasha seriously.
On the contrary, knowing the gravity of the situation, she was trying her best not to make Sasha nervous and to give her some confidence, no matter how effective it was.
"Uh... could I meet the chief?"
After the laughter dissolved, Sasha quickly got to the point.
"Um... yeah, he’s here as usual. It’s just that someone from the headquarters has arrived, and the chief is currently in a meeting with him. So, you will have to wait."
The officer scratched the back of her head, silently apologising to Sasha.
"That’s fine. But—"
Sasha paused mid-sentence, debating whether to ask what was on her mind.
The female officer didn’t disturb her, as she stood at her place, waiting for Sasha to speak.
"Is there any chance for me to meet the one who has arrived from the headquarters?"
"Uh... you see—"
"Please."
The officer was bound by certain rules that she had to follow, but seeing the desperation in Sasha’s eyes made her think again.
"I... I will see if that’s possible. But—don’t raise your hopes."
"Thank you." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Sasha tried to offer a bow, but the officer stopped her mid-motion.
"That’s... not necessary. And you will just put me in an awkward spot. I will talk to my superiors. Until then, you can just sit over there."
The officer pointed at one of the benches that was placed at the right corner of the main hall.
Sasha, nodding her head, made her way towards the corner.
The officer watched her back as she took a deep breath, steeling herself for any reprimands that might soon follow.
As Sasha sat in the corner, every now and then soldiers stopped beside her, making sure that she was comfortable.
No one dared to disrespect her, as she was one of the main victims, and it was for people like her that the elites from the headquarters had taken the time to come here.

"Sir, please convey the message to the chief."
The female officer stood before her superior, who was sitting on a chair, massaging his forehead.
"Haa... do you really want me to talk to him? You know how frustrated he is after having his leave cancelled. And if I make another request..."
Both of them knew the tough time that the chief was currently going through.
His wife was ill, and so he had requested a long leave, only for it to be cancelled at the last moment.
And now, he was taking all of his frustration out on them, so no one wanted to be on his radar until this case was solved.
"Sir, but the girl just wants to talk. And being a victim, don’t you think it’s her right? She—"
"I know that. But it’s not possible to just casually get a meeting with the people from the headquarters. And you do know the identity of the one who is in the meeting with the chief."
"Yes, sir."
The female officer’s eyes had lost their hope, as she knew that the request she was making was far-fetched, but knowing the situation with Sasha, she wanted to help the girl get her peace of mind—
As Sasha was the most affected by the attack. From the reports that she had read, the poor girl was nearly raped by those scums.
If she had the power, the officer would have brutally killed every last one of them.
But she knew that the case was out of her league.
The superior looked at his junior for a moment before sighing again.
