It had been an hour since the officer had assured Sasha that she would convey her request.

Sasha waited... hoping for some results.

Her hands were wet from the anxiety that had gripped her heart.

Despite being in a secured area with officers surrounding her from all sides, Sasha still found her body shivering from time to time.

"You sure have good luck!"

Sasha was brought out of her thoughts, as the female officer stood before her, a wide smile plastered across her face.

"Really? When can I meet them?"

Sasha stood up from her seat, inching closer to the officer.

"They have just concluded their meeting, and the chief has asked to bring you over—Now that is!"

Patting Sasha’s shoulder, the officer motioned her to follow.

Taking deep breaths, Sasha steeled her resolve as she walked behind the officer.

Taking a right turn, they soon climbed the stairs before moving towards the far end of the hallway.

There, the officer opened the door to one of the rooms on the extreme right, before motioning Sasha to enter along with her.

This side of the building felt isolated from the rest, as no soldier could be seen in the vicinity.

"Don’t worry. Everything will be alright."

The officer assured Sasha, as she had observed the latter shaking slightly.

Sasha was being anxious again—without her even noticing the shivers that spread across her body and were even visible from the outside.

"Thanks."

Sasha smiled at the officer, as she entered the room only to see a luxurious hall greeting her.

The hall wasn’t huge like the one at the entrance, but it was far bigger than an average room.

Not stopping for a single moment, the officer made her way to the right, before opening the door before her.

As Sasha entered through the door, three different rooms greeted her, with each of their entrances having an average wooden door.

Though the doors looked average on the outside, if felt closely, they were made from one of the sturdiest types of wood extracted from the wild forests.

As Sasha thought that the officer would open one of the three doors, she was surprised as the latter didn’t even glance at them, and blindly turned to her left where a small sink was placed.

She opened the tap to let the water flow, and waited patiently in silence.

Sasha just observed everything without commenting on it.

She had met the chief several times, but usually their meeting would take place at the guest room on the ground floor, just where the hall ended.

This...

Sasha took it as some additional precautions, as she would be meeting the individual from the headquarters here.

After waiting nearly for a minute, the water from the tap mysteriously disappeared.

At first, Sasha thought that the water in the tank might have finished, but her assumptions were soon proved to be entirely wrong.

The moment the water stopped running from the tap, the sink began to submerge into the ground, and then Sasha felt some vibrations below her feet, as the female officer approached closer to the entrance that had appeared where the sink should have been.

"I am not allowed to enter, so you will have to go on your own."

On the officer’s instructions, Sasha nodded her head, before thanking her once again.

The officer just smiled back, as she watched Sasha step into the opening that had just formed.

Sasha gave her a final glance before disappearing from view.

The moment Sasha disappeared, the smile vanished from the officer’s face, as she began to walk back towards her post.

Closing all the other entrances, she finally stepped out of the room, before heading towards the stairs.

Not everyone knew the secret entrance through which Sasha had just passed.

It was reserved only for the top brass.

And the female officer was one of them.

Though she was currently working as a junior in the base—a form of covert operation.

When the chief had given permission to bring Sasha, the female officer’s superior thought that he would be asked to escort the girl.

But surprisingly, the chief had asked for the presence of the officer who was the first one to relay the request—as some sort of appreciation.

Even now, the superior didn’t understand the reasoning behind the sudden gesture of appreciation. He ended the communication and asked the female officer to escort Sasha.

The superior thought that the location of the meeting place must have been shared to his junior’s device.

Little did he know that it was all a facade—so that the least suspicion was aroused from among the ranks.

And the female officer’s superior was given the position only because he was dumb enough to not be able to find any inconsistencies with the former’s behaviour, as well as her relation with the top brass.

"Did you greet the chief? What did he say?"

As she reached the main hall below, her superior approached her, wanting to fulfil his curiosity.

"Uh... he just wanted to meet Sasha, so I quickly left the area."

The female officer smiled awkwardly.

"Is that so? Hm... don’t get offended over that. I have heard that the chief dislikes interactions with officers unless necessary."

The superior went into deep thought, his right hand massaging the area around his chin.

The female officer waited patiently, her expression still the same as before.

"Alright! I won’t take your time. Complete your tasks, and report to me at the earliest."

"Yes, Sir!"

The officer saluted her superior, before quickly moving to her own desk.

She indeed had a lot of work to do.

Though the officer had already begun doing her work, her thoughts couldn’t help but drift towards that girl—Sasha.

She just hoped that ’he’ would try to be as polite as possible.

Normally, Remzi was a casual, carefree, and polite guy.
