The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss-Chapter 78: Weapon Selection
"Okay. I guess that was all for today."
The lecture had finally ended. Though it was a long one, I must say Elsa had her own style of teaching.
None of the students seemed bored by her method.
And true to her image, she had answered every question asked by the students—most of them being from Amelia.
"A junior instructor will be joining you soon. You all are required to follow him for the weapon selection."
Saying that, Elsa left the class, her red hair bouncing along with her movements.
Sigh.
I leaned my head on the back of the seat.
"Umm... Nice to meet you—sir."
The guy who had previously given me the intel spoke up.
I turned to look at him.
"Just call me Kael."
Though I liked having respect... such over-the-top respect made me sound like some typical young master.
"Yes, Kael. And I am John."
He extended his hand.
Returning the handshake, I gave John a proper scan.
He had brown hair that matched the colour of his eyes.
"John?"
I asked, raising a brow.
"Yes, J-John!"
John answered back with some hesitation.
I wanted to know his surname, but seeing that he was reluctant, I didn’t push further.
As I closed my eyes for a brief rest, another presence seemed to have entered the class.
"Hello everyone. My name’s..."
The junior instructor introduced himself and asked us to follow him.
One by one, students stood up from their seats.
I used my hand to suppress the yawn that was involuntarily released from my mouth.
I hadn’t really slept well.

The weapon selection hall was huge.
Wherever my eyes moved, all I could see were weapons of different shapes and sizes.
"You may all select a single weapon of your choice. Just remember that the weapon will be attached to your name, and you will not be allowed to change it till the semester ends. So choose carefully!"
The instructor, having finished his words, stepped back, allowing the students to proceed.
I roamed around the hall to inspect every weapon.
Though a sword has always been the weapon of my choice, it wasn’t like I loved to fight with a sword or anything of that sort. It’s just that with a sword you don’t need to learn many complex techniques.
It’s the easiest weapon to improvise with.
You just swing it a few times, get the feel of its weight, and then... you are good to go.
I could see John moving toward the section of spears.
I could see him practically drooling over the weapons.
Did he like spears that much?
Curious about the weapon, I moved toward him.
Seeing me approach, John waved at me.
"Are spears easy to wield?"
I asked John as he was inspecting a four-foot spear in his hand.
"Well... I can’t say anything about being easy, but they are the kind of weapon that is always used in my family. Like from my ancestors and all!"
John answered with a grin.
Though he looked good, such acts surely made him sound creepy.
"Maybe I will take this one."
Holding that four-foot spear in his hand, John—
Licked his lips?!
Creep!
"What about you? Any weapo—"
I moved away from him, heading towards the section with swords.
Though I preferred swords in general, I liked slim swords in particular.
They increased my mobility and were easy to change the trajectory mid-swing.
Still they had a major drawback in attack power, due to their light weight—the person wielding the sword had to apply all the pressure while attacking the opponent.
In the case of broad heavy swords, their weight gave them a decisive advantage.
Thinking about broad swords, I could see Noah standing just before them.
In the game too, Noah had always preferred broad and heavy swords.
His physical strength wasn’t something to be scoffed at. The guy could easily swing a sword of such weight without breaking a sweat.
He was, after all, the protagonist.
Taking a mid-sized slim sword, I walked to the instructor in order to record it under my name.
"Ah. You will need to wait until everyone selects their weapon." The instructor spoke as he saw me approach him.
I raised my brow.
"It’s a rule in the academy, so that every student knows what type of weapon their peers have selected. Umm... Your name will be announced before registering the weapon. A sort of public acknowledgment of your ownership."
The instructor said while trying to avoid eye contact with me.
Was he an introvert?
And what was the logic behind such a rule?
Seeing no point in further discussion, I walked towards the far end of the room, leaning against the wall.
Within a few minutes, John too stood beside me.
Almost eighty percent of the students had selected their weapons, with some still having issues deciding their choice.
I didn’t understand what was so difficult about selecting a weapon.
"May I talk to you for a moment, please?"
Hearing a feminine voice beside me, I opened my eyes.
Seeing the girl, I wasn’t surprised.
I had expected her to approach me... just not this early.
Amelia stood straight, a bow resting across her shoulder, its string brushing lightly against her chest.
I nodded my head in affirmation.
"I heard your answer in class. I was wondering whether you were a research scholar too?"
A nerd trying to find others like her.
"And who might you be?"
"Huh?"
John gave me a weird look as I looked into Amelia’s eyes with a serious expression over my face.
I had to appear like someone focused on the class... Though she was someone famous, knowing her identity would mean I had given her specific attention.
It sounded childish... but I couldn’t have my ego bruised.
Honestly, I didn’t consider myself an egoist!
This was just a way to make her formally introduce herself. A basic courtesy.
Yes, that was it!
Amelia’s confused look soon turned into one of instant realization.
