Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Little Sister Cecilia West

Sensing Thorne’s cold resoluteness, Evangeline felt a flicker of uncertainty. ’How am I supposed to know anything about Divination?’

She wasn’t a real Witch, so of course she couldn’t perform Divination.

In her days of journeying through three thousand minor worlds, she had indeed learned many skills, but every single one was for strengthening herself to complete her missions smoothly.

’This Divination business, what good is it anyway?’

’Am I supposed to divine whether I can complete my mission? The very thought is absurd!’

’Still, I have a bit of a bird’s-eye view. Since I know the original owner’s good friend is in the Grymdale Tribe, I can just bring it up and let this Six-star Beastman, Orion, take the lead and drag her out, right?’

Evangeline silently gave herself a thumbs-up for her own cleverness.

Putting on an act, she took the lock of hair from Thorne and carefully stuffed it into the tortoise shell.

Then, cupping the tortoise shell in both hands, she began to shake it gently. Her movements seemed practiced, but in reality, they were honed from shaking dice in a casino. After a few shakes, she applied a slight pressure with her fingertips, skillfully conjuring a few wisps of eerie, will-o’-the-wisp-like green light, creating an air of profound mystery before Thorne and Orion.

As soon as the green light appeared, both of their expressions indeed grew much more serious.

A moment later, Evangeline blew gently at the green light. The smoke dispersed, slowly forming a human figure in mid-air.

The figure had shoulder-length, chestnut-colored hair and a face that was cute in a youthful way. Her figure was petite and delicate, but her chest was full and shapely, tracing an alluring curve that made one’s gaze linger involuntarily.

Evangeline narrowed her eyes. ’The original owner’s friend... I think her name was Cecilia West.’

Though she wasn’t as strikingly beautiful as the original Evangeline, her features being far less refined, she had a good figure. To the tall, powerful Beastmen who valued strength and curvaceous beauty, she held a fatal attraction.

Evangeline’s deliberately mystifying performance left Orion completely bewildered.

He was already taken in by Evangeline’s seemingly profound "Divination Technique," utterly impressed. But when his gaze focused on the human shape formed by the green smoke, he couldn’t help but frown, blurting out in confusion, "Strange, that’s not Evangeline at all! Who is this person?"

Before Evangeline could speak, Thorne had already pressed his lips into a thin, straight line. The air around him instantly grew heavy, and a low breath rumbled from his chest as he enunciated, word by word, "Cecilia West."

"Cecilia West? Thorne, you actually know this female?" Orion instantly perked up, his eyes gleaming with excitement. Now that they had a target, Thorne’s Beast Crystal could be recovered soon!

A flash of undisguised disgust crossed Thorne’s face, as if the very name Cecilia West made him sick.

Immediately after, he snapped his gaze up. His narrow, dark green eyes, like two bottomless, murky pools, were filled with scrutiny and accusation as they locked onto Evangeline. His tone was icy. "Why is the result of the Divination Cecilia West?"

Unflustered, Evangeline spread her hands, her expression earnest and utterly innocent. "I don’t know this female, so how would I know? In any case, the Divination shows that your Beast Crystal is with her!"

Evangeline’s stubbornly insistent look made Thorne’s Adam’s apple bob slightly.

Orion grew impatient, frowning. "Thorne! It’s come to this, just tell us! What’s this Cecilia West’s background? Do you know where she is?"

Thorne suppressed the emotions in his chest and said, "Cecilia West is in the Grymdale Tribe."

Evangeline quietly sighed in relief. ’Looks like I guessed right. Birds of a feather flock together. Cecilia West must be the type to cling to life and fear death, seeking advantage while avoiding harm. She would have sided with the Grymdale Tribe long ago.’

Orion shot to his feet, rubbing his hands together eagerly. "Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go find her now!"

Thorne’s eyes darkened. "If the Beast Crystal is in Cecilia West’s hands, it’s likely impossible to get back."

Hearing this, Orion’s expression froze, and he stood there dumbfounded.

Evangeline’s heart suddenly tightened, as if squeezed by a large, invisible hand.

Her expression turned cold, a chill seeping from the depths of her eyes.

Her reaction was even stronger than Orion’s shock, her voice laced with a questioning tone. "Why? She’s a female. She can’t absorb the energy from a Beast Crystal, let alone become a Fallen Beastman!"

Thorne paused, looking at Evangeline strangely. Her reaction was even more intense than he had expected.

Orion didn’t think too much of it and just frowned. "Thorne, what’s going on?"

"Cecilia West was a female from the Oasis Tribe. After the Oasis Tribe was destroyed, she was brought back to the Grymdale Tribe. On her first day here, she came to me and asked me to save her. She didn’t want to enter The Females’ Den."

The Females’ Den was a place in the tribe filled with sin, specifically used to imprison females who had committed offenses.

In that place shrouded by darkness, females were reduced to outlets for the un-Contracted male Beastmen of the tribe. Only by conceiving and giving birth to a cub could they leave The Females’ Den.

Orion’s brow furrowed even deeper. "You didn’t agree?"

Thorne scoffed. The dim light in the cave reflected in his dark green eyes, sending a chill down the spine. "Anyone related to Evangeline, I wish I could kill on sight. Why would I agree?"

Evangeline couldn’t wait to ask, "And then? What about Cecilia West? Did you kill her?"

’I don’t care about these irrelevant details. I just want to know if the Beast Crystal is still in Cecilia West’s hands!’

Thorne gave Evangeline a deep look and shook his head. "She probably wanted to use the Beast Crystal to tempt me into protecting her, but seeing me in such a miserable state, she didn’t mention it directly. After I rejected her, she turned to Elias Moretti instead."

Evangeline: "..."

A sharp glint flashed in Orion’s eyes. His tone was grave as he said slowly, "Elias Moretti has always been competing with you for the leader’s position. Your open and secret struggles have never ceased. If your Beast Crystal truly fell into his hands, given his personality, he probably wouldn’t keep it. He would dispose of it as quickly as possible..."

Thorne’s eyelashes lowered slightly as he said flatly, "Elias Moretti is cautious and suspicious by nature, and he yields no ground when it comes to power struggles. He would never stand by and watch me recover my strength and make a comeback. The Beast Crystal is surely gone for good."

Evangeline: "..."

’My head is starting to hurt. This mission really is on hell difficulty.’

’Whether it’s Danton’s Mermaid Tail Scale or Thorne’s Beast Crystal, getting them back to their original owners is as difficult as an epic quest.’

’And to think there are still five Beast Husbands who haven’t even shown up yet, each with countless thorny problems of their own... Even for a gold-medal employee like me, it’s giving me a massive headache.’

’No! No matter how hard it is, I have to try. Even if it’s hell difficulty, I have to conquer it!’

’As a renowned gold-medal employee of the Transmigration Administration Bureau’s Lineage Optimization Department, I’ve conquered countless difficult missions in the past. I’m famous in the industry.’

’Am I really going to fail my retirement mission and suffer a crushing defeat?’

’Absolutely not!’

’If I really fail, how could I ever show my face in the industry again?’

At this thought, she abruptly stood up. The gazes of both Orion and Thorne instantly converged on her.

Orion raised an eyebrow and sneered, "What? You have another way?"

Evangeline ignored him, turning to Thorne instead. Her expression was focused and serious, her tone unhurried, each word clear and forceful. "Don’t worry. I will do everything in my power to help you find your Beast Crystal. And even if we can’t get it back, I will find another way to help you forge a new one!"

With that said, Evangeline turned and walked toward the cave entrance.

Thorne’s handsome face, usually cold due to the hostility that clung to him, froze. An imperceptible flicker of astonishment crossed his eyes, like a calm lake’s surface suddenly broken by a small pebble, sending ripples spreading out.

This rare change in expression was fleeting. Then, looking at Evangeline’s departing back, as if driven by some instinct, his lips parted, and he subconsciously blurted out, "Where are you going?"

Evangeline decisively tossed back six words: "Find Elias Moretti, get the Beast Crystal!"
