Chapter 573: Deja vu

It was a heavy decision to make. She had fallen in love with him and considered starting a life here but she missed her family

The doorbell rang, "Welcome to Easy Bite. Please have a seat." A middle-aged lady welcomed the customers with a polite smile. Her name tag read Gloria.

"Thank you." The lady said, then grabbed the man’s hand, leading him to a good seat by the window.

"This was my favourite spot." She whispered to him, her gaze flickering across the street, watching the cars run by. It’s been a long time since she last experienced this.

Cedric smiled watching her side profile as she looked lost in the moment for a while. "Here is your coffee. It is complimentary." Gloria chimed, pulling out a cup from the tray. The lady grabbed the mug and took a sip of that familiar taste of coffee.

Before she knew it she chimed. "Thanks, Mum, your coffee is always the best." The lady froze. Gloria’s hand shook, "pardon." She said,

Abrielle’s gaze flickered; she realised what she said.

"Forgive my wife. You look like my mother-in-law who passed away." Cedric chuckled, then grabbed Abrielle’s hand, rubbing it.

"She still misses her mother." He explained and Abrielle bowed her head. Gloria sniffed, then wiped her tears.

"Sorry, I got emotional for a moment. She sounds like my late daughter." Gloria said, then ran away, unable to hold back her tears. Abrielle stood instinctively wanting to run after Gloria. Cedric held her wrist, making her glance at him. "Don’t..." He simply said.

Abrielle reluctantly sat back. Her ginger hair was pulled into a simple ponytail. It had been a while since she dressed casually in trousers. She glanced at Cedric with a soft smile, he could see right into her.

"I forgot for a moment." She mumbled. Cedric was sitting across from her, looking glorious in everything he wore. His hair was pulled into a messy bun, and he was wearing a simple leather jacket over a dark shirt paired with jeans

At first sight, you would think he is the typical heartthrob you want to avoid with an angelic face like that. "It’s fine. It’s been just a year since you were gone." He said lightly, and he picked up the cup of coffee to take a casual sip. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Someone cleared their throat, drawing their attention to her. It was a young girl, in her late teens. She has sharp hazel eyes and auburn hair..

The tag on her apron read, Tricia. "I’m sorry for my mum. She is a bit emotional today," she explained.

"I am Tricia and I will be taking your order." She went straight to the point. Abrielle nodded, her gaze softened as she watched Tricia. Her younger sister.

"Nice to meet you, Tricia. You have a soft smile. You must be in your freshman year." She chimed indirectly trying to get information. When she died Tricia was writing her finals in secondary school.

Tricia nodded, she gripped the pen. Why did her smile feel familiar? "Yes. I am currently in my first year of law. " She managed to say. "How did you know? Some people say it shows." She laughed off.

"It was a good guess. Just curious, your mother mentioned something about a late daughter..." Abrielle was trying to handle the topic delicately. Tricia didn’t know why but she found it comfortable to talk.

.

"Yes, my elder sister passed away exactly a year ago. We are having her memorial service tonight. Mum is being sensitive because of it...up till now there are no leads on the killer." Tricia’s voice was heavy. A tear rolled down, which she quickly wiped off.

"I’m sorry I didn’t mean to cry. Can I have your order?" She requested politely, Abrielle nodded and gave the menu one look confirming it was indeed the same content as she remembered.

"It’s fine, " she chimed. Tricia looked at the couple in front of her who looked like celebrities. Especially the man, she was careful in stealing glances before her wife caught off

Seeing the identical wedding bands on their fingers her heart squeezed. It was nice seeing good-looking people together.

"My order will be..." Abrielle’s sharp voice snapped her from her trance. Cedric chuckled; he knew she was staring. Tricia took their orders and left immediately.

Her brows furrowed as she looked at the notepad. The items were all Hazel’s favourites. How strange?

"She was staring at you." Abrielle bitterly said, throwing a glare at her husband. Cedric ignored her, sipping his coffee like it was the most interesting thing in the room.

" It is not my fault that I am handsome." He has the nerve to say. "You should have worn a mask." Abrielle hissed. She just remembered Tricia was a sucker for idols just like her.

Her eyes flickered, noticing an old picture of her hanging on the wall. Cedric followed her gaze to the picture of the girl, with the same hazel eyes as Tricia and auburn hair. "Was that you?" He asked. Abrielle slowly nodded, her chest started to get heavy.

Tricia arrived just on time with their first items. "Here is your food, enjoy." She chimed. Abrielle’s mood was finally lifted. There were a lot of pastries and sweets to pick from.

"These are my favourites." She told Cedric with a bright smile. Tricia had a weird feeling of Deja Vu. It reminded her of Hazel whenever she got her hands on pastries.

She silently excused herself. The kitchen door closed behind her. "You aren’t the only one who finds them similar." She said to her mother who was staring at an old picture of Hazel

They didn’t look alike, but why did the lady remind her of her late sister? The tears stung but she fought them.

A couple of minutes later, Abrielle and Cedric were done. Cedric wasn’t a fan of sweets, but he was happy to share them with her and listen to her explain the making process.

"Are you paying by card or cash?" Tricia asked politely. "Card please," Abrielle handed over a black card to her. Tricia immediately knew they were rich.

Her eyes caught the name. "Blackwood Cedric..." She laughed. "What a coincidence, you remind me of the villain from that popular book and you guys have the same name." Tricia laughed, and Cedric could only smile, helplessly giving Abrielle a side glance.

"It’s even crazier, my name is Abrielle. It’s not the first time my husband has been told that he is similar to Cedric from the novel." Abrielle chirped in, and instantly, she and Tricia’s laughter filled the room.
