Chapter 580: A new empire

Everyone watched in awe, unable to believe their eyes. Cedric had decided to stop wearing a mask, and they were stunned by his appearance.

Not only did he not have a hideous scar on his face, but he was gorgeous. Truly breathtaking. If not for the fact that his sharp gaze and strong presence could not be mistaken for anyone else.

This was the true Cedric Von Drakkar. Abrielle was glad Cedric was finally making this decision. There was no more hiding behind a mask.

They finally got to the front Cedric reluctantly let go of her hand and slowly went up the altar while Abrielle sat in front. "He looks nervous." Alfonso teased Abrielle as she sat by him in the front.

She nodded subtly, her heart swelled with gratitude. "Who wouldn’t?" She muttered, once Cedric got to the top everyone sat down.

With a heavy heart, she watched him take his oath. She didn’t know why her eyes stung. She wasn’t the emotional type, but watching Cedric standing before the high pope Mikhail holding that sceptre stirred strange emotions in her.

He was finally crowned then Mikhail’s voice boomed through the hall. "All hail the first emperor of the great empire of Draconia..."

"All hail emperor Cedric Von Drakkar..."

Everyone stood up and bowed to him. Cedric raised his hand to stop all of them, then beckoned Abrielle to approach. Her eyes flickered, and a soft smile played on her lips before she approached Cedric.

She accepted his hand and he led her forward. "You would never have to bow for anyone again." He said, then signalled the high pope.

Abrielle gave Mikhail a soft smile. Never in his dreams did he think his carefree niece would end up being an empress, and he would be presiding over her coronation.

A glass box was brought forward containing the queen’s crown; they were wearing matching outfits to be paired with matching crowns.

Abrielle subtly bowed to Cedric. His voice was firm, "Abrielle Von Drakkar, do you accept the role of the empress of this beloved kingdom...To rule and to support by my side." Cedric asked her.

She nodded with a smile. "Yes, your majesty." A round of applause rang. Cedric lifted the crown and placed it on her hair before handing over the sceptre.

He led her forward before Mikhail to give the couple his final blessing. Abrielle could not hold her smile. She knew Cedric was also in a good mood, but he had mastered the act of keeping a straight face.

"You may now rise," Mikhail instructed. They both rose and faced the crowd hand in hand. Praises and prayers were sent to the couple.

Abrielle was stunned when she saw Evelyn crying. She never expected her to be the emotional type. When Abrielle had disappeared from Heliosa and the news of her death followed. She had almost lost her mind, but in the end, everything had worked out.

Rebecca had a soft smile on her face. Her eyes were filled with admiration. Abrielle squeezed Cedric’s hand, urging him to smile. A soft tug on the corner of his lips made him even more blinding.

Cedric officially became the most desirable man in the empire not just because of his power but his unrivalled looks.

The doors leading to the balcony, which overlooked the capital, opened, and the new emperor and empress walked out. The commoners who had been waiting immediately started to cheer.

Although Cedric had nasty rumours among the nobles, he was very loved by the commoners who knew him as the noble general. They stood there waving at the crowd who threw flowers celebrating

Music and praise filled the capital of Draconia until night. The streets of Vitalis were ever vibrant.

Night arrived and a ball was being held to celebrate the new emperor and empress. Cedric and Abrielle had changed their outfits and were waiting outside the door

The more she stared at her husband the more dashing he seemed. "I wonder if our son will look like you." She muttered and Cedric froze. His eyes darted to her, those gold eyes didn’t dare blink.

"Are you expecting?" He asked, sounding a bit too excited. Abrielle was stunned. She blinked before realising what he meant. Abrielle laughed then shook her head.

"I’m not pregnant. I was just being willful." She chimed. It didn’t skip her eyes; he seemed a bit disappointed.

Cedric forced a smile then held her hand. He was going too far. One thing at a time although he would love to have children. He was also nervous. Cedric has been stripped of his immortality but he was still a divine being

The last time she got pregnant, the baby was too taxing on her. He didn’t want to hurt her.

Cedric was still absorbed in his thoughts with the doors finally opened. He quickly fixed his expression, and they matched into the ballroom, standing on a small balcony.

Everyone bowed to them. Cedric turned to Abrielle. "May I have the honour of having the first dance my empress?" He asked.

"Of course your majesty." They gracefully made their way down the stairs to the middle of the dance floor. Everyone stood by the side to watch the imperial couple 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Cedric placed his hand on his waist while she held his shoulder. Their eyes locked and the music started to play. Under the chandelier, they swayed to the music.

At first, Abrielle was a bit nervous; her movement was rigid. "Not thinking about them. I am the only one who matters " he whispered in her ears. Abrielle laughed. "Sorry if my movement hasn’t been graceful." Her voice carried a teasing tone..

While the emperor and empress led the dance their subject watched with admiration. The first dance came to an end, and the couple curtsied to each other.

It didn’t take a second before Cedric was flooded by officials and his wife was stolen away. "Please may I have this dance," Alfonso asked after snatching her from Cedric.

Abrielle accepted with a smile, and they both joined the floor while Cedric was struggling to handle the officials. Abrielle laughed at how hopeless her husband looked

Cedric was trying his best to be polite. "From now on, things will be different ", Alfonso chimed, drawing her attention back. "It will surely be." She replied

Alfonso looked like he had a lot to say. Because he supported Cedric, he was offered a dukedom title and Karissa’s name was cleared by presenting the true mastermind behind the sorcerers.

"I won’t be accepting the title ", he informed Abrielle, leaving her stunned. She didn’t understand why but Alfonso quickly cleared her confusion.
