Chapter 147: The Horror Under The Sea (9)

The intensity of their attacks heightened so that the monster finally sensed a threat to its life. The surface of the sea boiled, and the sky on the ground darkened.

It howled; the vibration made the whole world tremble.

Khal and Devion’s abilities intensified, somehow creating a new effect as they merged to bombard the gigantic mass filled with vortexes.

When the ice sheet showed signs of cracking, Khal would immediately patch it. The same with Devion, he focused on the whilpools themselves while Khal bound and froze the surrounding area so the monster or whatever it was could not gather more vortex.

"Why!" it shouted. "Detestable... Humans!"

Accompanied by this rage, the sea began to change and boil even further. The sky on the ground also underwent a huge change, but the two barely glance at it.

"It’s doing something," Khal muttered.

Devion, still with a shred of rationality left, responded with a hum. Khal’s worries abated slightly after knowing that Devion could still respond to him.

Suddenly, the whole dungeon seemed to be targeting them. The monster was definitely doing something big. Khal withdrew his power, but the ice sheet remained; it would require some time for the monster to crack it, so it was enough.

His strategy changed, and Khalw was now responsible for defense. The surrounding area within them began to create a massive dome.

Devion’s lightning was still charging, and he had no intention to stop. Khal did not dissuade him this time.

This confidence stemmed from Ayen’s existence in their life. They did not need to hold back any longer. As long as Ayen was with them, the two could be reckless and be the monsters that they should be.

The whole dungeon began to tremble, and the monster’s howl became louder. Even Khal and Devion felt irritated.

Devion glared, his bloodshot eyes becoming even more terrifying because of his red pupils. He ignored the suppression of the dungeon that began to press on him; the gaze of the monster focused on him.

It was like asking him if he dared to attack it.

The violent lightning behind finally stopped charging. It created a massive upheaval in the area, and the dungeon became even crazier and more enraged.

The vortex, which symbolizes it, opened its mouth more widely as its dreadful howl overwhelmed everyone. Blood trickled down Devion’s ear, but he did not care, even when he temporarily lost his hearing because of it.

"Shut up," Devion uttered and released the destructive lightning that took most of his mana. He barely had any to create a spark in him.

Khal supported him, and the water solidified even further. Devion admired Khal for that. He was truly a monster when it came to mana control.

Khal was already creating a thick ice dome around them to shield them from the upcoming waves, and yet he still had the time to pay attention to Devion’s side.

If one could look closely, Khal’s condition was no better either. He already had a nosebleed earlier, but he casually wiped it and continued.

The upcoming wave was not simple; he could feel the whole dungeon preparing for it. It might be the whole sea. Khal wanted to prepare for the worst, and so the structure of the ice dome was more intricate.

The sky and the sea showed signs of closing in on each other; the massive face above dwarfed them by a hundred times. If someone fantasizes about fighting the whole world, this must be how they picture it.

Devion and Khal were not intimidated. Instead, Devion unleashed the lightning strike at the mouth, continuing to howl in rage. Waves and waves began to drop as if the sea were provoked.

The moment that Devion unleashed the lightning strike, he collapsed, and Khal quickly caught him. The ice dome then closed with the three of them inside, not even a split second later, and the sea seemed to have collapsed on the ground.

Devion’s lightning struck precisely, aimed at the mouth, creating destructive thunderbolts everywhere. It roared, as if in pain, and overtook the whole world.

The sea trickled down, as though the monster were injured, and its blood streamed down.

The sky, which was on the ground, split into two, and water emerged from within. The sea above continued to collapse.

The frozen waters, affected by lightning, crackled and continued to influence the surrounding area.

"Pain... Pain!" The monster’s mouth roared in despair, and in rage, it began to bombard the ice dome where the detestable humans were hiding.

The face was now unrecognizable. The vortexes, which served as its eyes and mouth, were misaligned and now destroyed into multiple ones and were being constantly eroded by Khal’s and Devion’s power.

Their ice and lightning somehow created another effect that was hard to repair.

"AHHH HUMANS!" With a roar, the vortexes slowly withdrew, as if they had no choice but to do so.

The dungeon trembled, undergoing a massive change. It slowly rotated; the vortexes and waves that bombarded the ice dome could not do anything to it at all.

They, too, were affected by this change. The phenomenon lasted an hour before it stopped.

The noticeable change... Everything was now according to common sense. The sky was above, and the sea was below it.

What could be noticed was that almost half of the sea was now frozen, with glaciers scattered on the sea surface. The other half was also influenced by lightning, which still continued despite Devion not controlling it anymore.

Vortexes and waves could be seen everywhere, as though cleaning the surface of the sea, to no avail.

The other half were eerily calm, similar to the state they were in the first time the three set foot inside the dungeon.

All of this was not important to the three inside the ice dome, which was now floating on the calm surface of the sea. Whirlpools arrived at this location, but they dissolved before they could approach the ice dome.

Inside the ice dome, which was not too big but could still fit the three just fine, with more room to spare. The ice shards around them shone, illuminating the inside.

Ayen sighed and looked at the two espers, who were now unconscious.

"Hah." It was his first time in this situation.
