"Oh," Zhang Bo snatched the red stone from Xiaobo's hand.

Xiaobo immediately cried out, alarmed by the loss of the beautiful gem which his aunt had secretly given him.

"Dad, dad, give me back my stone." he climbed onto his father's body and lunged upwards to take back his property.

Zhang Bo held Xiaobo back with one hand as he studied the red stone.

"Just a second." he told him.

"No, gimme." Xiaobo replied impatiently.

The struggle between father and son over this and that was not rare in the Zhang house. The elders and members of the family were used to it. Sometimes, it was hard to differentiate between father and son because Zhang Bo often acted childish as compared to Xiaobo.

Caishen wheeled himself away and followed the direction Alix had taken into the bedroom.

"It's not a diamond." Zhang Bo said observantly.

The red stone was snatched out of Zhang Bo's hands by Yura. She had had enough of the ruckus. Xiaobo's loud complaints were making her heart ache.

"Xiaobo, can I have a look?" grandma Zhang requested.

Xiaobo had settled down and he nodded willingly, injecting a big smile as he approved.

Zhang Bo shook his head and sent Xiaobo a displeased look. He refused his father to take a look but when his grandmother requested he smiled willingly. Where was the father-son bond between them?

It skipped Zhang Bo's mind that he did not make a request but rather snatched forcefully without Xiaobo's permission.

"This is a ruby, pigeon blood." grandma Zhang said. "I have a ring with this kind of exact gem. It is a bit smaller than this but it cost me more than a million. Xiaobo are you sure that your aunt Xi Xi gave you this?"

Xiaobo nodded. "She said she would give me more because I am adorable. She also gave me a necklace with a small dragon."

"It must be fake." Zhang An said snobbishly.

There was no way the Lin's would have allowed Alix to leave that house with any kind of jewel. Moreover, who would give a child such a precious stone to play around with?

"Tch! she is doing everything possible to buy his love. Why deceive him with fake stones?"

"There is nothing fake about this gem Zhang An." Grandma Zhang told her. "Why are you determined not to get along with your sister-in-law anyway? If you don't have anything nice to say about her then stop talking. One day you will say the wrong thing and your brother will take drastic steps to protect her."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"That Caishen will decide to cut you out of his life for his peace of mind and that of his wife." Zhang Bo elaborated to her.

"He is my brother, he would not do such a thing. I will continue to remind him about the impostor he married because you have all forgotten the facts." Zhang An declared, comfortably.

Blood was thicker than water. She, Zhang An was blood while Alix was water. It annoyed her that everyone always stood up for Alix ever since she came into the family. What was so special about her?

"Maybe it's time for her to get married and concentrate on her own life." Zhang Bo suggested.

"Brother!!" Zhang An said loudly, quite alarmed and partially maddened.

Zhang Bo looked at her seriously and went on to say, "Ai Yishi, the son of Ai Di group chairman has returned from abroad recently. He has been named vice president of their company and he is set to become the chairman after his father someday. The family history is good and they have similar traditions to ours. I think he would be a great match for you."

Zhang An stood up hurriedly and swept away the glassware in front of her. It landed on the ground with a loud smash.

Nobody around the table even blinked or winced in shock. This was not new behavior, Zhang An did it all the time. In fact, this was a mild tantrum.

"Don't arrange any blind dates for me because I will not go." she said determinedly.

"An An..." Grandma Zhang called in a soft voice.

"I won't go." Zhang An said more determinedly.

She would not be sold off in some kind of unhappy merging of rich families. Zhang Bo had refused to marry or tell them who Xiaobo's mother was. Caishen had only married because of the emotional blackmail their grandparents applied after his accident.

Why could they choose how they wanted to lead their lives while she couldn't?

This was all that damn Alix's fault. They were doing this because they were defending her.

"Mother," Zhang An called.

She wanted at least one person to stand up in her defense and put a stop to all this.

"It's just a blind date An An, it doesn't have to mean anything." Yura told her.

Even though she wanted her daughter to decide for herself when it came to matters of the heart, it did not mean that she thought an arranged blind date was a bad idea.

How many less privileged women would kill for an opportunity to meet a man like Ai Yishi? It was not written anywhere that love could not blossom between two people from wealthy backgrounds that met on a blind date.

It had happened for her so it could also happen for her daughter.

"Arrange a hotel for a private meeting." Grandpa Zhang said calmly.

"Yes grandfather." Zhang Bo answered.

In a rage, Zhang An picked up the empty cup in front of Zhang Bo and smashed it on the floor. Then, stormed out of the dining room.

"Why does she see this as a punishment?" Grandma Zhang sighed sadly. Couldn't she tell that it was being done for her good?

In the bedroom, Alix had packed up all that she needed in the compartmentalized bag. When Caishen entered, she was changing into a new shirt.

He turned his wheelchair around and faced the door.

"Sorry," he blurted out.

Alix giggled, finding him cute and funny at the same time. "Tch! I am your wife, you can look all you want. But you can turn around now, I am done."

She sat down on the bed and strapped on a pair of short black heeled boots to match the black jeans and white turtleneck light sweater she was wearing. The grey locket was hanging out. Her hair was hanging down, falling to her shoulders.

"Aren't you too overdressed to meet your brother?" he blurted out.

She looked like she was going to meet her boyfriend.

"I am meeting the seller after meeting him, I need to look business casual."

She stood up and twirled around slowly for him. "What do you think?"

"Too good that I am coming with you." he grumbled. "Your brother is my brother so it should not be a problem for me to greet my brother-in-law every now and then. I have also contacted my lawyer but he needs an address in order to meet us." he told her.

"You are coming with me." she said, surprised.

"Yes, give me a minute to change then we can go."
