The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 278: Stop, right there.
"Jealousy is speaking, let’s all pay attention." Wangshu responded to Jia Yi’s comments about his selfishness.
Jia Yi was like a firecracker suddenly as she exploded. "Hey, is it a lie? You hide your compositions and stop playing when others walk into the room. You don’t even take time to help out the juniors like the rest of us. I heard Shulin asking for your help in practicing smooth bow changes and you told her to beat it."
More composed than Jian Yu, Wangshu replied, "Why should I share my private compositions? We all participate in competitions with support from the school and we use our original works. Right now, master Xi and I are both taking part in a violin competition. Do you dare to call her selfish for not sharing her sheet music with you?"
The situation was about to turn into a full blown argument which Alix did not desire so she stepped in.
"Alright, let’s all calm down. I can see that you are all excited about the festival and it’s a competition but let’s relax. As much as it’s a competition, we will also be judging your harmony.
This is a group activity, if one person makes a mistake then everybody loses. There can only be one first chair, so Wangshu and Jia Yi both of you should first calm down. Some of your classmates are just as good players as you are and they have an equal chance to outdo you.
Auditions for first chair will take place next week." She gathered her sheet music and picked up her violin. The class was a minute away from ending.
"Remember what they say, success is one percent talent and ninety nine percent hard work."
As she said it, the students rhymed it out with her because she always said it at the end of her class.
"Wonderful." she said deeply. "Wangshu, Jia Yi, follow me to me to my office."
She left the classroom and the two students followed her, not forgetting professor He.
Jenny came running out of her office as soon as she saw Alix and she collected the violin from her.
She followed her inside and smiled politely at professor He. Secretary Gu had already given him a heads up on her identity.
"I will call you when I need you Jenny, you can return to your office now."
Jenny nodded, then she paused and turned around, "Director your father’s assistant called while you were in class."
Alix frowned and said slowly, "Father."
Professor He pulled out her notebook and scribbled something, much to Alix’s irritation. Just what in the world did she keep jotting down in that little blue book.
"Chairman Tai Heng." Jenny clarified.
"Aah." Alix relaxed and smiled.
"He left a message with me saying that your father wants to have lunch with you today, here at the school or a nearby restaurant. Should I convey a message back?"
Alix wanted to respond personally but there were two hours left to lunch and professor He had made herself quite comfortable. She looked like she was here for a long talk which they would be having whether Alix desired to or not.
"School." She said.
Jenny nodded and left office, partially closing the door to give them some privacy.
As soon as she sat down, Wangshu went into self defense mode.
"Master, I am not selfish at all. I am simply preparing for the Inter universities violin cup competition which will be held in January. I don’t have time to help anyone right now."
"Doesn’t that mean you are too busy to be first chair?" Alix asked him.
Jia Yi was like a vindicated heroine and she said, "See, selfish. You want to occupy everything. Wangshu, you must chew and swallow before trying to chew again."
Alix sighed and leaned back in her chair.
"I didn’t invite the two of you here so that you can argue again. I simply wanted to warn or advise both of you. This is the third year, the final for most of your classmates. I do not want your fierce competition over who is the better violinist to affect your classmates." She looked from one to the other.
"Wangshu, if you cannot take on the responsibilities of first chair, it’s okay to give it up. Everyone knows that you are the best violinist in the school. There is nothing for you to prove."
"I am not better than you master." he hurried to say.
Jia Yu scowled.
Professor He scribbled in her book.
Alix slapped her desk lightly. "Professor, stop. Your note taking is really distracting me."
Professor He smiled and put away the notebook.
Alix then looked back at the students. "Jia Yi, just because you don’t think Wangshu can do a good job doesn’t mean that you can call him out on it in front of all your classmates."
"She is jealous." Wangshu mumbled.
"Quiet," Alix told him sternly. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"You are both the best among your peers. I would love to see you working together. I think your dynamic would be great if you performed phantom of the opera with Qing Ru An, Mu Dafu and Ye Susu."
She held her fingers up and counted, "Two cellos, two violins and one piano. So, go and think it over, then get back to me at the end of the day. I will personally be teaching this group so if I don’t hear from you by the end of the night, I will talk to other students. And just so you know, if you join this group, none of you can be first chair."
She noticed how they had brightened up when she talked about personally teaching them and then their smiles faded a little when she ripped the rug out from beneath their feet by taking away that first chair position.
"Teacher, it’s fifty thousand yuan. I need the money." Wangshu said.
"More than skills?" she asked him.
His lips trembled and he looked down.
"Go and think about it first Wangshu. You call me master, don’t you think your master would know what’s best for you?" She got one of her business cards from the table and gave it to him. "If you have any problems, contact me personally, I will help as much as I can."
She had no idea why he needed the money but she could see the desperation in his eyes. There were many things that could be faked but that look in his eyes, it couldn’t. She knew because that same look had accompanied her for many years.
Again, she couldn’t help wondering what had driven him from Gongzhu to Songbird. Did he lack opportunities there that he had come seeking for here?
"System, help me find out more about him and her, Jia Yu."
"You just treat me like your servant." It muttered.
"I said help, I didn’t issue a command." she reminded it.
She gestured at both students to leave and she gave her full focus to professor He who was tapping that little blue notebook against her thigh with a mysterious look about her.
It was the kind of look someone gave you when they knew your secret.
"What?" she asked.
