The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 282: From auntie Mo to mother.
They sat down under the furthest wide parasol and her father proceeded to open the bento boxes without delay.
At the very first sight, Alix couldn’t help being marvelled. They were neat, colourful, beautiful and filled with variety like rice, mushrooms, sushi, shredded chicken, egg rolls, vegetables and fruit slices.
"Wow." She said slowly. "Father, where did you buy this? It’s amazing, totally amazing." It looked so professionally made that she planned to patronize the restaurant as long as the taste was delightful.
"Your mother made this." He replied so naturally without thinking.
His eyes widened and he gasped soon after responding to her. He looked at her quickly with an apologetic expression. The words had slipped out carelessly.
"Sorry, I didn’t...." he bit his lower lip and shook his head. He didn’t want to make her sad.
While he could comfortably ease into the role of Alix’s father, it was different for his wife because Alix’s mother was not a bad person that abandoned her daughter. She was a good woman that simply passed on and anything to do with the word mother was quite sensitive when it came to Alix.
Alix noticed his nervousness and the conflict he was experiencing and it made her uneasy. He had come all this way to do something nice for her. He didn’t deserve to be uncomfortable or suddenly walk on eggshells around her just because of a word.
She extended her hand across the table and touched his. "Father, it’s okay. Auntie Mo prepared this very luxurious lunch for me. You came all this way not just to bring it but to eat with me. Not even my biological father or step mother has ever done this for me. If I could call Jing Hee mother for so many years despite all that she did to me, I can call auntie Mo who has been so accepting and nice to me mother."
Alix was sure that she was turning into a cry baby because her eyes welled up after she said that. She looked up, allowing the air to pass over her eyes which she had widened in an attempt to hold the tears back.
Personally, she was not a fan of people that were easily prone to tears. She would not turn into a crybaby right now.
Chairman Tai on the other hand was excited. He squeezed her hand as his heart filled with happiness. His wife would be so happy to hear that she could now go around calling herself Alix’s mother.
Of course this meant she would go slightly crazy in fulfilling her motherly duties.
"Your mother will be happy to hear this. This bento box which she got up at six to make is definitely worth it." He said slowly.
Alix looked down which inevitably put gravity to work as the tears which she had been holding back started to flow down.
"At six, really?" She croaked out.
That was way too early for auntie Mo to sacrifice her sleep all for her. The gesture touched Alix even more.
Yes, auntie Mo was worth being called her mother because she was fulfilling every dream Alix ever had of what her mother would be like or do for her if she had been alive.
Chairman Tai nodded. "She will be making them more often for you since you like it so much. Quickly, eat something. I want to send her a picture which proves how much you love it."
She wiped her eyes and got her phone as well. This bento box was worth sharing on her weibo.
She took a few pictures and then put her phone down. Then, she picked up the chopsticks and picked up a roll of sushi. When she put it to her lips, chairman Tai took pictures, as many as he could.
"Father, you can a video too." She suggested.
Chairman Tai’s eyes lit up and he switched to video mode rather eagerly.
Alix waved her hands and said, "Auntie...no, mother Mo, thank you for this surprise. Your pretty baby loves it very much. I love you."
He sent the video to its intended target and then joined Alix in eating the sumptuous meal.
"How is it?" He asked her.
"Good." She covered her mouth and replied. It was good enough to actually sell. Auntie Mo was surprisingly a good cook.
"I like the environment here in your school. The trees and the pond here provide a beautiful view and the air is fresh." He said softly.
Alix pointed to the air purifying flowers that had been planted. "The flowers purify the air. In the entire city, I dare say that no place has better air quality that Yuwei. With the exception of my house, grandfather’s, yours and the other uncles. I sent flowers to everyone."
"You did?" Chairman Tai seemed surprised.
Alix nodded.
Chairman Tai had not seen that particular orchid in his house but he would make it a point to check when he returned home.He tilted his head as he wondered if the air at home had been fresher than usual.
"I have more and I can give you some for your office. I can even supply the entire TFK headquarters if you wish."
They had been planted all over the school. For her, they were cheap to acquire as all she she had to do was tap a few buttons and play the game.
"I will be needing a discount though. Your mother told me how much you sold all those flowers for." He told her.
She giggled. "The one for your office is free but for the rest, I will charge a small price."
He smiled at her with a doting look in his eyes.
"Father, do you only wear custom made shoes? I want to get you some shoes but I want to get something comfortable which you would wear."
She had thought about this when she was searching for premium shoes to buy for her husband.
Chairman Tai looked at the current shoes on his feet. Just as she guessed, they were custom made. But, a gift from his new daughter didn’t need to be custom made. He would wear anything she gave him, even sandals which he didn’t like.
"I don’t mind. As long as its a gift from my precious daughter I will take it." He smiled happily and his heart danced with joy.
None of his sons had ever thought about him shoes. It was always wine, watches, paintings, old swords because he was a collector.
All were precious gifts of course, but the shoes from Alix sounded more precious.
"Mmm, I heard that your husband is having a hard time getting a permit to rebuild some hotel ruins which his company acquired. You should tell him to look into Dahei fund management." Suddenly, he brought up an entirely different subject in a serious voice.
"There is some politics involved in his problem. I don’t know what the full story is and the details I have are thin but this information is accurate.
I am only aware because a close friend informed me about it as you are my daughter and you happen to be married to Zhang Caishen.
I think your husband has an enemy that has some reach and ability to pull strings."
