The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 283: First ever oil painting.
"Dahei trust management." She mumbled softly.
It was a company that she had heard of but had never paid much attention to as it wasn’t her business but as of the biggest companies in the country it was hard not to know about it.
"The same group owns Dahei life insurance." Chairman Tai continued. "I am a little worried whether the problem is with your husband or the entire Zhang group." Frown lines formed on his forehead and he gave her a deeply worried look.
Softly, he continued on, "I do not want you to be pulled into a situation that you are not aware of. Talk to your husband and see what he says. In the meantime, I will continue digging from my end to see what I can find."
She was grateful for his help and she responded with a smile. There was no other way to express her gratitude except the words thank you and a smile. She wondered if it would be too awkward if she hugged him.
"Father, you should be careful too. Dahei trust is not a small ordinary company. This information which you have given us is more than enough. I think my husband can handle the rest."
Just as he worried about her, she also worried about him and the Tai family. She didn’t know which of the two families was stronger between the Tai’s and those who owned Dahei and she would not want to see the Tai family collapse as a result of their involvement with the Zhang’s.
"Aah, is this what it feels like to have a daughter worry about you?" Chairman Tai smiled as he asked loudly. He looked up and declared, "I like it. I can now brag to my friends about having my own little padded jacket."
Alix rolled her eyes. "Of all the things to say father. I am not that little. Look at me, I am only a few inches shorter than you." She was also already grown and over thirty. In addition to that, she was married.
He shook his head. "You are little in my eyes, no different from a small child. How I wish that you had come into our lives much sooner. Your mother would have bought you all the pretty dresses and I would buy you all the pretty shoes and crowns and bracelets." He paused and then added, "I don’t see a single reason why we cannot do that now. I am going to make a crown for you."
"A crown." she laughed.
"You are our princess, a princess should have a crown." He had this bright light in his eyes, excited by the idea.
In the distance, the school bell rung and they both looked up. It was lunch hour and the chairs under the parasols would fill up soon.
Chairman Tai took a sip of the homemade juice from a bottle sitting next to the bento box. "Your grandfather is going to come looking for you soon. I am suddenly wondering if I should run away right now to avoid a possible beating."
In her mind, Alix pictured it, chairman Tai running while grandpa Tai chased after him. It sure made for a hilarious scene which made her chuckle.
"I don’t think grandpa has the strength to chase after you father. But you should stick around for a while longer. I want to paint you."
His voice had carried a little sadness when he spoke about having missed out on meeting and raising her as a child. It made her want to create more memories with him now to make up for the missed time that she too wished they had had together.
"Do you paint too?" he seemed surprised.
She nodded. "Oil paintings. If you are not very busy, I will paint you right here and give you the painting to frame in your office or at home. But, I have never painted anyone before, I don’t know if I will be very good at it."
Chairman Tai glanced around and then scratched his jaw for a few seconds as he thought. All he heard was that she had never painted anyone before. Finally, there was something he could have first over his father.
He crossed one of his legs over the other and leaned back comfortably. "I have time, all the time in the world."
His assistant cleared his throat when the chairman made that declaration. The chairman did not have time, he was supposed to be preparing for a meeting with some overseas buyers.
Chairman Tai glared at his assistant, warning him not to say a word. He sent a message to his second brother to handle the meeting and then switched off his phone.
Alix meanwhile raced to art supply room and returned with all that she would need to paint him.
As she was setting up, he started shifting from side to side. "Should I pose? Or maybe I should change my outfit. Do I look good like this?"
He tilted his chin and looked out in the distance, trying to project an air of mystery. He thought that was not good enough and he stood up. He leaned against the table and crossed his legs with his hands in his pockets.
"Should I cross my arms across my chest?" he looked at his assistant and asked.
His assistant smiled and nodded. For every pose that his boss made, he gave him a thumbs up. If his boss didn’t care about doing all this in front of students, he wouldn’t comment.
"Amazing chairman, you are the best at posing in the world."
Alix looked up and laughed. She was not sure if it was a compliment or the assistant was just kissing his boss’s ass. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"I know, right? Tell my daughter that I am better than that any male models out there. I was approached by many modeling agencies in younger days."
The more that chairman Tai spoke, the more Alix realized that he was somewhat a replica of his father. This kind of shameless bragging was a skill that had been passed down from father to son.
In the next moment, something else happened that made Alix laugh even more.
Chairman Tai’s assistant looked at her and said in monotone, "The chairman is better than any male models out there and in his younger days he was approached by many modeling agencies."
Her laughter caused the chairman to turn to his secretary, looking completely betrayed.
"Don’t say it like that. You don’t sound believable at all. You sound like you are reciting an allegiance pledge."
"But you told me to tell her that, exactly that." The secretary replied.
"Is that why you framed it as if you are reading the news? Add some flavour to your voice."
These two were a comedy duo but they didn’t realize it. Alix picked up a paintbrush and said, "Father, you can just sit down comfortably.
She channeled the skills that the system had given her and she started painting.
