It was rare to see CEO Zhang laughing in the office. In fact, it had been a long time since he was seen with anything other than a scowl at work.

This is why on this day, Caishen's two secretaries and his personal assistant kept going in and out of his office in turns and then whispering to each other after they got out.

The two secretaries were joined by a third, Biming's secretary and they shared this juicy tidbit with her.

"He is laughing, he is really happy."

"Is the CEO returning to his old self?"

Biming's secretary was on friendly terms with him so she went directly to his office with a question.

"Why is the CEO happy?"

Biming didn't know why.

"How should I know? Maybe he had a wonderful night." He guessed.

Biming's secretary was very doubtful about his answer. How could he not know when everyone knew about his close friendship with the CEO? Didn't they share secrets?

Then again, why would he share the CEO's secrets with her?

She gave up and sighed. The gossip chain would have to end with her today.

Biming did not even know how right his guess was.

Indeed, Zhang Caishen was happy because he had a good night on Saturday night. He had been smiling all through Sunday as well.

He could hardly get the exasperated look Alix had given him after she locked lips with her owl plushie.

He touched his lips and smiled, and laughed. It was really funny. He wished he had taken a picture and saved the memory.

Caishen received a call from his secretary and he answered.

"CEO, someone from TFK jewelry is here to see you. It's elder Tai Sun."

Caishen stopped smiling and his lips twisted in puzzlement. The same elder Sun Alix had mentioned. Why was he here?

"Send him in." He said.

Caishen rubbed baby's head as he waited for the old master of the Tai family. He thought the old man was probably there to talk about Alix.

Baby lazily bit a toy fish, one of the many toys he had bought for the cat. Around her neck was a collar with a dazzling yellow gem.

He wondered what Alix would say when she noticed it. She would definitely have an opinion about it and the word dumb would be included in there somewhere.

"Baby, you are not dumb." He told the cat.

His office door slid open and Biming personally escorted elder Tai Sun. He had not come alone, his son the current chairman of TFK Tai Heng had come along.

Caishen moved his arms as if he was preparing to stand up.

"Don't bother standing up, just stay where you are." The elder told Caishen as he made himself comfortable in one of the black leather sofas in Caishen's office.

Biming froze, and so did Chairman Tai Heng. How could the elder say such a thing? Had he forgotten than Zhang Caishen could not stand up anymore.

"Father!" Chairman Tai Uttered loudly.

"Aah, young Zhang, you resemble your father quite strongly. It's such a shame that he passed on so early.

I met him when he was wanted to propose to your mother. He came to me with a request to make him the most exquisite diamond ring with patterns that would symbolize infinity. It took me three weeks to create something that satisfied him.

I remember that he was so in love, that his hands trembled when I gave him the ring and he dropped it.

I chastised him and sent him out of my workshop. I had to make another ring, a pair this time round.

To pick them up your father came with a bag and he did not touch them once. He begged me to put the ring box in the bag myself.

He sent me pictures on the day he proposed and I have them in my album.

He was a good man, with impeccable taste." Elder Tai Heng talked with a twinkle in his eyes.

He did not even notice the looks of horror still on Biming and chairman Tai's faces.

Caishen was not as horrified as those two however. One, everyone knew that elder Sun sometimes mixed things up. He was old, it happened.

Two, the medicine Alix was feeding him was working.

Feeling was slowly being restored to his legs. The other night, one of his toes had even moved.

Next week, he planned to start consulting a doctor on what else to do to ensure that everything went smoothly and he could get back on his feet. So whether elder Zhang told him to stand or not to stand, it didn't matter.

Three, the old man had just said good things about his father which pleased him greatly.

"I sincerely apologize." Chairman Tai said.

Elder Sun looked at his son with confusion, puzzled as to why he apologizing.

Chairman Tai leaned over and whispered something to the elder.

Elder Sun's mouth dropped open and he looked at Caishen with embarrassment all over his face.

It even turned red, sort of.

"Did I say that? Young Zhang I apologize. I will not use my age as an excuse because I am still sharp for an old man.

I really do apologize honestly, I spoke without thinking."

He looked and sounded sincere so Caishen chose not to dwell on it.

"I accept your apologies elder Tai. I will be more comfortable if we can discuss what has brought you to my office right now.

I have to visit a building site in thirty minutes so I will ask that this impromptu visit be rushed."

Caishen told them, speaking slowly and one hand still rubbing Baby's head.

"Why doesn't your wife wear a ring?" Elder Tai blurted out.

Caishen had to blink three times as he processed the question.

"That's not why we are here. TFK is expanding to Guangzhou and we obtained space for a new building.

We are considering constructing an entire mall or a plaza since we want to utilize the space appropriately which is why we are here. We want you to take on the project." Chairman Tai Heng quickly explained as he glared at his father.

They had come here for business but elder Sun was here to apparently fight for Alix's rights.

Chairman Tai could not understand what his father was thinking. He had interacted twice with Alix and he was acting like a doting grandfather.

The young woman herself was probably uncomfortable with the situation.

Even if he liked her, he should go slowly.

He blamed his son for telling his father that Alix was not liked by the Lin's and she had been fending for herself since her teenage years.

His father was now assuming the role of knight in shining armor at his old age and he was even talking about wanting to adopt her.

Had he even asked for young master Zhang's opinion before adopting his wife?
