This Insane Demon Lord wants a normal life-Chapter 28: Summit Arc(13)
Preparations were nearly completed, with a grand conference room prepared to house all rulers of the west.
Over fifty kings and over thirty feudal lords were present.
Each owns a seat in the conference hall.
The grand conference hall was a magestic space, it’s high ceilings adorned with intricate stone carvings and stained glass windows that filtered in shafts of colorful light.
Casting a kaleidoscope of hues across the polished wooden floors.
The hall’s walls were lined with tapestries depicting scenes of battles and royal coats of arms.
Their woven threads shimmering in the flickering light of candles and torches, as the air was thick with the scent of old wood and leather.
The tables were long and narrow, covered with fine linens and adorned with ornate candlebras. Their silver and gold surfaces reflecting the light.
As the scribes and advisors sat at smaller tables, their quills and parchments at the ready.
At the far end of the hall, a raised dais supported a throne-like chair, adorned with gold leaf and precious gems.
Reserved for the senior monarch, the host of the event.
While other kings and nobles sat on ornate wooden chairs, their seats cushioned with rich fabrics.
One after the other, western kings and feudal lords were ushered into the grand conference room.
The atmosphere was formal and dignified, the air heavy with the weight of power and politics, as the kings and nobles gathered to discuss matters of state and war.
The hall’s architecture was a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, it’s stone columns and arches evoking a sense of solidity and permanence.
While stained glass windows added a touch of elegance and refinement.
Once all the western kings and feudal lords were all sitted.
External guests were invited as well.
External guests which included the heads of the three biggest merchants companies in the West.
Wealthy individuals capable of buying cities if they wanted.
And the top three merchant guilds. The Golden Gate Guild, the Selvertain Guild and the Romaroza Guild.
All three chiefs of the guilds were invited.
The rest of the external guests were the seven high priests. Servants of the seven churches of the West.
Each of this high priests represents the church they serve.
For a few minutes, kings and feudal lords took their time to greet everyone.
King Carrion was in his own faction of rulers.
A small faction of neighboring nations of the north, they’re all loyalists of one of the five supreme kings.
**
The door leading into the conference hall creaked opened. Everyone stood up from their seats.
They paid their respects before the host.
King Ezra walked into the conference, his face beamed with smiles. Dressed in his royal attire.
He was escorted by his four sons.
Arthur being the third son of King Ezra was also present for the meeting. Since he has two brothers ahead.
His chances of being successor is little.
And besides Arthur has no care for who’s to become the heir apparent to the throne of King Ezra.
His brothers are powerful sorcerers.
But they’re all inhabitants of the game, Arthur is an anomaly.
He’s an otherworlder reincarnated into the royal household of the Raine Kingdom.
What he wants is just to have fun and kill enemies.
After all, he’s infamously known as the executioner of King Ezra. The supreme king’s blade.
Arthur rolled his eyes.
He scanned through the vicinity, he couldn’t care less about the kings and feudal lords sitted, not even the chiefs of the top three merchant guilds.
King Ezra noticed it.
"What is it that you’re looking for? Arthur" King Ezra questioned. They kept advancing forward, into the depths of the conference hall.
"Father. I was told the mysterious figure who thwarted the invasion of the Neztra Kingdom will be coming"
"He honored our invitation didn’t he?" Arthur curiously asked.
King Ezra stared around.
"That’s true, I don’t see any sign of any mysterious man in here. Maybe he’s on his way here" King Ezra said.
"He’s on his way here or he won’t be coming at all?" Arthur asked.
King Ezra exhaled a deep sigh.
His eyebrows furrowed.
"Hmph. His absence will be considered a mockery of the western order and we will plunge that village into nothingness"
"One must learn to understand the gravity of their actions. Shouldn’t they?" King Ezra questioned.
"They should" Arthur whispered silently.
He took his seat as the host of the summit, with his legs crossed. Everyone returned back to their seats afterwards.
Two special seats were brought into the conference hall and they were placed by the sides of King Ezra.
His first and second sons took their sests.
With the first son sitted by the right and the second by the left.
Arthur stood behind the King’s throne.
King Ezra exhaled a soft sigh.
"Greetings my fellow rulers of the west. Honorable nobles whose names will be written in history books"
"How have you been?"
King Ezra asked.
King Agred of the Angora Kingdom drifted attention towards himself by tapping on the table.
That was the signal indicating that he had something to say and everyone should pay attention.
King Agred cleared his throat.
"Dearest honorable King Ezra. We have been good, ruling our own nations may be hectic but it’s a duty we must adhere to"
"We’re honored to be hosted in the Raine Kingdom for this summit meeting"
King Agred stated.
He continued.
"While we have many things on the table to discuss about, one of the topic of discussions isn’t here with us"
King Agred said.
There was sudden uproar of whispers and mummurs amongst the sitted rulers.
King Ezra sighed. He tapped the table, calling for order.
The atmosphere became deathly silent.
"King Agred, the topic of discussion you are talking about. Does it have to do with our guest?"
King Ezra questioned.
King Agred tapped on the table before answering.
"Yes. That mysterious figure of unknown origins spawned into the invasion orchestrated by the Neztra Kingdom"
"No only that. He rebuilt the village of Esmerald and conquered a dungeon with its people"
"Now over fifty people within the village are awakened players"
King Agred reported.
"Our route to the Great Evil Forest of Nahumbai which is our source for starlight stones and the Valley of Esorok"
"The Valley of Esorok is an essential source for our continent’s evolution"
"With the dungeons constantly appearing in that valley. We need it to strengthen our defenses and protect our generations to come"
"This is why we do not need the existence of a new nation"
King Agred declared and everyone cheered.
The Angora Kingdom is situated on the southern plains of the western continent. The north and south are connected through a thin margin.
The Angora Kingdom, a ducal of the west greatly benefits from the Valley of Esorok.
King Ezra remained silent.
He understood the greed of all the kings and lords sitted in the conference room with him.
When ideas divides them, greed unites them back!
King Ezra tapped on the table once again.
Silence reigned.
King Ezra exhaled a soft sigh.
"I understand not everyone is happy about the lastest development within the lines that borders our continent with the west"
"The Neztra Kingdom made a foolish decision by simply invading the village of Esorok without a proper plan"
"And they lost all the soldiers and players that was sent"
"This time we’ll use different methods. Firstly, let’s hear from our guest"
King Ezra uttered.
Confusion reigned in the heart of the sitted kings. King Cassion’s brows furrowed.
He tapped on the table, drawing attention towards himself.
"Uhmmm....great king Ezra, what do you meant by the guest is outside? Isn’t he dead?" King Carrion asked.
King Ezra’s lips curled up into a knowing grin.
"So you really tried to kill him huh? Too bad your plan failed" King Ezra whispered.
He chuckled out loud.
"King Carrion right? You’re asking such question as if you killed him yourself. And no, the guest’s still very much alive"
"He’s currently outside"
King Ezra uttered. He pointed at the direction of the entrance door.
The doors creaked open.
He was granted permission to enter into the conference room as a guest. The second he took a step into the hall.
Arthur’s eyes widened.
He could sense it. The unfamiliar stench of demonic essence emanating from Cassie and Ramposa.
Craig walked in unfazed. He was void of any demonic stench.
An hour ago, Cassie and Ramposa fervently clashed against an elite assasin of the Vulgran Assasin Guild.
A battle that ended in the victory of Craig and his wives.
Craig approached the conference table.
His eyes squinted.
"So this are the elite’s ruling class of the western continent. Aside from the king of the Raine Kingdom"
"They’re all weaklings. They’re just fragile creatures who happened to be born of royalty"
Craig thought.
"I can feel the gaze of someone powerful. Am I being watched?" Craig asked himself.
He tilted his gaze slightly, he lifted his head to see a familiar face standing behind the ruler of the Raine Kingdom.
Craig locked eyes with the game’s designated main character.
Arthur BloodRaven!
