—— "Later, against Allison’s wishes, I sold Miyaas to a pharmaceutical company. I used his bones as shares... I never regretted my choice, I just hate that I betrayed him too late, and brought misfortune upon my family."
After listening for so long, Rita’s heart remained calm. After modifying Jameson’s luck, she continued healing herself and trying to steal things from Jameson, but every attempt failed.

Jameson’s words initially seemed flawless. His candidness in revealing his betrayal, and his lack of hesitation about his own motives, made his story seem more genuine. It made the listener trust the rest of the tale. People tend to trust someone who’s brutally honest, even if they’re a villain.
Rita, however, didn’t show any emotion on the surface.
Jameson continued: "We thought leaving Miyaas behind would mark the beginning of a new life. But, soon we found out that leaving the sea monster was the real misfortune. Allison and I could never stay away from the sea for too long. If we spent too much time on land, we felt like walking on sharp knives. But, if we returned to the sea, we would receive varying degrees of good fortune."
—— "If it was just me and Allison suffering, I’d accept it. We were greedy. But even our children were cursed! The only good news is that the curse weakens over generations."
—— "But it got worse. Allison and I showed no signs of aging, and our bodies slowly began to turn to stone... When our lives neared their end, we sailed into the sea to perform a sea burial. We thought we could die with dignity. But we couldn’t even die. We turned to stone, becoming immortal monsters."
As Jameson sank deeper into his memories, Rita suddenly interrupted: "Where did you get the dragon scales?"
Jameson, unbothered by the interruption, answered patiently: "Naturally, I got them from Miyaas."
Rita asked again, "After selling Miyaas, did you benefit from the research results?"
Jameson sighed. "We got some benefits, but a lot of it was donated. Eventually, the research institute ran into trouble, and everyone who knew about it died mysteriously. Later, Miyaas’s remains disappeared."
Rita’s frown deepened. Her suspicions grew stronger.
According to Snow Pile, the Wind Scythe clan had stolen the dragon scales. But in the story Jameson told, they only encountered mermaids and sea monsters. After selling Miyaas, the White Family remained involved in the research, yet Jameson still referred to the creature as a sea monster.
How could the Wind Scythe clan, who had stolen the dragon scales without being caught by Snow Pile, have been intercepted halfway? The chances of that were almost zero!
This meant that the creature who had stolen the Dragon Ancestor’s scales was not the Wind Scythe clan, but rather the sea monster Jameson spoke of. And yet, Snow Pile and the other dragons hadn’t seen through the disguise! With all their superior abilities, they still failed to detect the true identity of the thief for over a century.
This suggested that the thief had used a disguise skill powerful enough to fool even the dragons. Rita’s mind quickly began to form a theory: What if the sea monster, or rather, the sea monster’s royal bloodline, also had the Divine Gift of [God of Thieves]?
The more Rita thought, the more the pieces fell into place. The thief’s [God of Thieves] ability could have easily evaded the detection of even the dragons!
Rita could hardly contain the surge of realization, her heart racing with excitement. She instinctively pressed her hand over her chest, trying to calm her pounding heart.
Then, recalling the [Life History] skill, she whispered, "You don’t really know what my Divine Gift is, do you? You only know how to manipulate it, understanding what I need, and how I might bring disaster to the White Family, which is how you were able to strike this deal with me?"
A brief moment of silence passed before Jameson spoke with a hint of regret, "You’re very smart. But without my guidance, you would never have found the answer."
Rita pressed on, "Miyaa’s remains?"
This time, Jameson hesitated longer before responding. "Yes... it’s Miyaas’s remains. If I could, I’d never give you such a treasure. But I’ve done countless [Life Histories] for myself, and none of them showed your name or the time you’d come to find me. That’s why I couldn’t prepare to kill you in advance."
He paused, then continued with a sigh. "But that’s the beauty of [Life History]. Because it’s not detailed enough, it allows me to intervene in fate. If it were too detailed, it would lose its flexibility, and fate would no longer have room to be changed."
Another gap in his story had been sealed. Rita had been wondering why Jameson didn’t simply keep the remains for himself and leave clues for the White Family to dispose of her in advance. He could’ve used the information to eliminate a potential enemy.
Jameson had awakened his Divine Gift with Miyaas’s help long ago and used it to foresee the downfall of the White Family. However, the vagueness of [Life History] prevented him from leaving detailed instructions, which meant he couldn’t forewarn his descendants about specific threats. Instead, he had to plan everything himself to resolve the conflict.
It all made sense now.
With half of her [Emerald Feast] consumed, Rita was still relying on her magician’s dentures for healing. Yet, despite all her efforts, she hadn’t been able to steal the dragon scales. Even the miscellaneous items were out of reach. She stopped her skills and took a few steps back.
There was no need to continue the attempt. She had to keep at least half of the [Emerald Feast] for safety.
She whispered, "Tell me what you want. All I have to do is stop seeking revenge on your descendants, right?"
"Of course, it’s not that simple," Jameson replied. "Stopping revenge on my descendants is a necessary condition. Only after you agree to that, will I tell you where Miyaas’s remains are and how you can use them to evolve your Divine Gift. But to get the dragon scales, you’ll need to agree to one more condition."
