This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!-Chapter 152 - : Wait and See
Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Wait and See
Mansis left the meeting room as half the sun had already sunk into the western horizon. Regarding Parker’s remains, a roomful of great scientists had discussed nothing of any practical significance.
In the hallway on the 12th floor of the Great Void research building at the Spiritual Ability Research Institute, Mansis ran into his female student, Wang Ailin.
This young Asian girl, only 27 years old, had demonstrated abilities that were no less than those of her contemporaries, the top psychic scholars. She was one of the most powerful brains on the planet, and it must be said, even Mansis was somewhat envious of her.
Wang Ailin wore a black business suit with a white lab coat over it, her left arm cradling a thin notebook computer.
“Professor, what a coincidence,” Wang Ailin waved to Mansis.
“The Spiritual Ability Research Institute spans 120,000 mu of land, with various research groups’ areas located kilometers apart. The probability of coincidentally encountering another project group’s researcher here can be considered negligibly small,” Mansis said with a proud smile.
He straightened his tie, pushed his glasses, and gracefully walked over to Wang Ailin.
“But it’s not zero. You know why I’ve come to find you,” Wang Ailin said with a mysterious smile.
“Of course, I know. You are my best student,” Mansis laughed.
When other researchers were Wang Ailin’s age, they were still rushing around various laboratories, doing grunt work. In fact, to have joined the United Federation’s research institute as an official researcher at the age of 27 was already a tremendous achievement.
This meant your intelligence was extraordinary, overwhelming the era, and all other humans on this planet.
And Wang Ailin was not just any researcher. She had studied under Mansis, but soon emerged prominently, becoming the principal leader of a certain project.
Based on different research topics, the Spiritual Ability Research Institute has many research institutions, all distinguished by “building units.” Each building represents a research institution, and such buildings were countless within the vast institute.
And in each building, the bottom 20 floors were filled with basic grunt work “science dogs,” while the top 20 floors were occupied by the main core personnel of the project.
Wang Ailin was the only known researcher who, at 27, had become a core member on the top 20 floors.
She looked around to make sure no one was nearby before slowly opening her notebook to present her research findings to Mansis.
Mansis’s expression went from a worldly-wise old man to a rigorous scientific fanatic. He pushed his glasses and stared at the complex charts on the screen, repeatedly scrutinizing them.
“You really… did it?” Mansis grew more incredulous as he watched, repeatedly looking up at Wang Ailin.
“Based on these changes in constants, and the change in spiritual energy density around the portal of the Great Void, I’ve concluded something. As everyone knows, quarks, being fundamental particles, cannot be observed. However, we can use phenomena triggered by quark collapse and quark confinement to deduce their changes… My experiment has led to a conclusion, that is, the vectors inside and outside the Great Void are consistent…” Wang Ailin said.
“We’ve always believed that the Great Void is a quantum tunnel, showing us another world, an entrance to another universe… But obviously…” Mansis nodded.
“It seems we were all wrong. On the other side of the Great Void is still our world… just at an earlier time…” Wang Ailin smiled.
“No wonder we kept adjusting the readings and kept deviating from the coordinates… This discovery will help improve and upgrade the Black Box technology, making the portal’s closure and maintenance easier and more stable…” Mansis evaluated.
“Of course, you and I know that our research isn’t for something like the Black Box Space. Professor, what you and I want is ultimate knowledge, the truth of the world… If we can master the time coordinates, we might even be able to open the Great Void at will,” Wang Ailin said.
“I understand what you mean, Wang, I understand… If we can make a breakthrough in this direction, we could achieve real time travel…” Mansis said.
“But the difficulty lies in the fact that we don’t know any time coordinates, including our own timeline, we have no way to search for them, time is fluid, coordinates shouldn’t be a constant…” Wang Ailin shook her head.
“We still need to rely on the Blasphemous Dagger to open the door, the government provides us with sacrifices every year…” Mansis reminded.
“But… what they require from our research is how to close and control the gates, not to freely open them to explore the greater mysteries. Think about it, what is the real history of humanity? What kind of power did our ancestors possess…” Wang Ailin sighed.
“We will always find a way, I think Parker’s corpse could be a breakthrough… You didn’t attend the meeting today, I want to hear your opinion.” Mansis said.
“I think Parker is now in a paradoxical state, he’s still alive, likely in the Great Void.” Wang Ailin said.
“You mean… he became two?” Mansis asked.
“Yes, time is continuous, meaning the moment before Parker and the moment after are connected, but his continuity could have been interrupted by something not bound by time continuity, creating a paradox…” Wang Ailin pondered as she spoke.
“Not bound by time? What could possibly extricate itself from the torrents of time?” Mansis glanced out of the window at the sky.
“I think, that must be gods…” Wang Ailin closed her notebook and spoke lightly.
…
“Siri! What’s the weather like today?!”
Chen Ke stood by the counter, yelling at his iPhone 3G. The clerk in the counter looked at him with a bewildered face, not understanding what he was doing.
“Sir, have you decided to name your phone ‘Siri’? You can enter the name in the Bluetooth menu, so when other iPhones connect they can see your name. Yelling at it won’t do anything…” the clerk reminded.
Chen Ke scratched his head, looking at the unresponsive phone, not knowing where he had gone wrong.
“Siri! Tell me a joke!” Chen Ke yelled again, suddenly realizing something, this voice-activated assistant seemed to be a feature only available with the introduction of the iPhone 4S.
“No voice feature, no fingerprint unlocking, I’m telling you, 10 years from now the iPhone XI will be unlocking with iris recognition, and it’ll have a hideously ugly notch on the screen.” Chen Ke fiddled with the iPhone 3G in his hand, making chit-chat with the clerk behind the counter.
“That’s a great idea, sir, fingerprint unlocking… That’s too sci-fi. And what’s this notch?” The clerk played along with a chuckle, though he didn’t actually believe it.
“The notch is where a little bit has been cut out from the middle at the top of the phone, with the screen only on the sides.” Chen Ke gestured on the phone screen to show the clerk.
“Apple wouldn’t design something like that, you probably don’t know Apple’s design style, they pursue a naturalistic aesthetic.” The clerk spread his hands and laughed.

“Ha! Right, that’s Apple’s aesthetic!” Chen Ke laughed.
“I bet you, the iPhone in 10 years won’t be like that.” The clerk was a dedicated Apple fan, naturally dismissive of Chen Ke’s claim.
“Wait and see!” Chen Ke said confidently, grabbing the phone’s box and leaving Walmart.
