This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!-Chapter 201 - Conflict
Chapter 201: Chapter 201 Conflict
Chapter 201: Chapter 201 Conflict
Diana pointed her gun at Ying Baiyi, knowing his words were true.
The biscuit factory mission had greatly drained her, and in order to facilitate treatment, she was forcibly drained of her Spiritual Energy, also crippling one of her arms.
Even though her physical condition surpassed that of an ordinary person, given her current state, her combat effectiveness was probably not even comparable to that of a healthy civilian, at most she was just a durable target.
Without Spiritual Energy, she couldn’t use Spiritual Guns or Holy Relics; besides, after drainage, those items would be taken back by the Administration Bureau. All she could rely on was this Luger revolver and the six .357 Magnum bullets she had.
If she encountered a monster, Ying Baiyi was the only one who could confront it head-on and ensure a safe retreat.
But now, Diana was facing some trust issues. This only level 9 agent who could protect everyone didn’t seem to have a simple background.
It was hard for her to believe that Ying Baiyi, like her, had ended up in this world after a subway accident.
From the previous conversation, Diana guessed that he was a resident of this world, and it definitely wasn’t any Mirror World.
“What is your purpose…?” Diana asked, her gun never leaving the center of Ying Baiyi’s forehead.
“My purpose? Obviously, it’s to leave this place, isn’t that evident?” Ying Baiyi responded.
“Maybe that’s the problem… Ying Baiyi, maybe you don’t belong to the place we’re trying to return to…” Diana said gravely.
Ying Baiyi looked at Diana, his expression unfathomable, making it hard for Diana to gauge his current mood.
Suddenly, he lowered his head and laughed, as if he had heard some ridiculous joke. When he looked up again, his eyes revealed a hint of madness.
Diana was well aware of the source of this madness. When a person suppressed their fear and despair for a long time, they would end up with such a gaze.
Humans have their limits — psychological resilience, willpower, courage… these aren’t inexhaustible energies; they are constantly being depleted, and everyone’s maximum threshold for these energies varies.
You can’t solve every problem with a simple “Because I’m Batman!”
“So, what do you mean, Diana? Are you saying that I belong here?” Ying Baiyi asked in a soft whisper, his tone strangely sarcastic, distinctly different from his usual self.
“I…” A bead of sweat slid down Diana’s forehead. She knew she had awakened the wild beast in Ying Baiyi’s heart.
“Yeah, we belong to this hopeless world, you should have knocked on the door before coming in. Now you see, don’t you? Look at this world, look at it!” Ying Baiyi’s voice grew louder.
Diana’s trigger finger tightened slightly; she hesitated. Shooting him now wasn’t exactly a good idea, but she lacked the ability and opportunity to knock him out…
“Ying Baiyi, calm down… we don’t need to turn this into such a scene.” Diana tried to persuade him.
“Oh? I don’t think so. You were the one who made your stance clear first, not me, understand? Look, look whose hand is on the trigger!” Ying Baiyi growled.
Diana was speechless.
“Silly girl… you really are emotionally unintelligent… you’ve screwed this up,” Diana thought to herself, frowning, partly blaming her own impulsiveness and partly worried about Chen Ke and Sam who were still outside.
“No one should stay here; this world is finished, Diana; no one can save this world,” Ying Baiyi said, moving closer to Diana.
“Stop right there! Don’t move. Or I swear I’ll blow your brains out!” Diana shouted.
“Then try,” Ying Baiyi scorned, his eyes filled with disdain.
He took steps toward Diana, stopping right in front of her, the barrel of the gun directly against his forehead.
“Don’t force me, you bastard… don’t force me…” Diana clenched her teeth.
“You forced me first… Diana, now you’re really stuck,” Ying Baiyi sneered.
He grabbed Diana’s gun-wielding right wrist with his left hand and squeezed hard. Diana’s right wrist hurt, and she lost control of her nerves. The Luger revolver slipped from her hand and bounced twice on the ground.
Diana abruptly kneeled Ying Baiyi’s groin, but he had already seen through her trick and pressed close to her body, preventing Diana from exerting any force.
At the same time, Ying Baiyi’s right hand harshly grasped Diana’s dislocated left shoulder, his thumb pressing deeply into the socket.
“Uh…” Diana squinted her eyes and moaned in pain.
“No one can stop me from taking my people and leaving this place… Diana… no one…” Ying Baiyi said harshly, gripping Diana tightly.
Diana was now helpless; she felt her left shoulder was almost being torn off, the pain originating from the shoulder and spreading throughout her body via the nervous system, making her want to curl up, close her eyes, and not move.
“Wait for the beating, girl… Damn it…” Diana closed her eyes and silently thought.

She had messed up; she always messed up, then waited for others to help—either Violet, Rogers, or even Bader…
She was nothing like Wonder Woman.
Not even with a shield and sword.
At that moment, a low moaning of humans came from a distance outside the window.
“Uh oh…hm…uh huh…”
“Hee hee hee… ugh…”
“Oh…woo woo…”
At the same time, there was the sound of flapping wings, the combination of noises growing louder and louder. Just by listening, one could tell there was an unimaginable number of them.
Diana didn’t know what those sounds were; she only knew that Ying Baiyi was slowly loosening his grip, and her shoulder wasn’t as painful as before.
She opened her eyes and looked at Ying Baiyi, who seemed to have regained his composure; his face was pale, cautiously looking toward the door and the windows.
The noise from outside grew louder, some flying creatures hovering over the hotel while humming, but from Ying Baiyi’s expression, it was undoubtedly something he was worried about.
The two remained in a standoff, and after a minute, the noise from the group started to fade away, seemingly unable to find its prey, and then left.
Only when they could no longer hear any sound did Ying Baiyi sigh in relief and release Diana.
Diana could even hear Ying Baiyi’s intense heartbeat; it seemed he had been quite panicked just now.
The two sat down on the floor, exchanged glances, and Ying Baiyi seemed to have returned to normal, his manic state no longer visible.
“I’m sorry for what happened just now. I lost control,” Ying Baiyi said, breaking the awkward silence and apologizing first.
“There’s no need to feel guilty, Ying Baiyi. The pressure on you must be immense…” Diana shook her head, rubbing her left shoulder. The Luger revolver was right beside her foot.
“I hope you understand why I had to do this, Diana.” Ying Baiyi said.
“I get it; this is what agents of the Administration Bureau are supposed to do, protect the public from threats of Spiritual Energy, our duty in any world…” Diana responded.
“No, it’s not just about being an agent, Diana, but for now, think of it that way,” Ying Baiyi said.
“If you want to tell me later, then tell me then. But now you have to tell me, what was that outside just now?” Diana asked, pinching the bridge of her nose with her eyes closed.
“It’s something not in the Administration Bureau’s files; we saw it for the first time too… I call them the Death Knells. You understand, right? The kind that means you’re doomed when you hear them,” Ying Baiyi shook his head.
“That doesn’t sound good. What exactly is happening in this world? Ying Baiyi, if you keep quiet, it’s hard for us to cooperate,” Ying Baiyi said.
Ying Baiyi lowered his head and thought, finally deciding to reveal everything to Diana.
“This is a long story. I’ll try to keep it short…” Ying Baiyi said.
