Gu Longyu wasn’t worried about the Ancient Sky Sect trying to kill him. Even if they did, he had a method of escape and to make them regret it. Just because they had something to hold over him since he acquired the Temple of Death’s core soul methods, didn’t the reverse also ring true?

Before, he didn’t know Springsnow’s identity, but now he did. And Gu Longyu judged the Ancient Sky Sect to be a suitable partner. At least they were smart and had already set up the groundwork.

Luckily—or rather, fortunately—the Ancient Sky Sect was not so foolish. They were still wary and scrutinized him, but Gu Longyu didn’t care. Time would reveal all.

The woman, Springsnow, couldn’t believe Gu Longyu could contend with her mother and clamored to have him punished for his transgressions. Empress Wintersnow ignored her after telling her to entertain Gu Longyu.

Interest piqued, Gu Longyu teased Springsnow, causing her to be infuriated but helpless. He particularly enjoyed that expression. He knew his actions would bring retaliation, but he did not care.

The Ancient Sky Sect was not a force that hosted many gatherings or invited outsiders, so Gu Longyu’s presence already intrigued many elders and factions. Added to the rumors that he could fight Empress Wintersnow on equal ground, many wanted to meet him.

Springsnow provided them with a chance. Of course, she chose those who would be hostile toward him. Although she was just a true immortal, she had her talents, not to mention vision beyond her realm owing to the information she accessed as an immortal empress’s sole child.

She had many suitors who wanted to win her heart, but Springsnow knew that many of them couldn’t make Gu Longyu take them seriously, so she chose the sole peak immortal monarch suitor. The immortal monarch was many generations older than her, and she didn’t like him, but owing to his position within a faction, Springsnow couldn’t brush him off like the others.

As she expected, the peak immortal monarch suitor asked Gu Longyu for a spar. Although he voiced it as a question, his tone left no doubt. It was one reason Springsnow disliked him. Outwardly, he appeared akin to a gentleman as refined as jade, but he was actually very arrogant. Even when talking to her, he had a condescending attitude, not to mention he already had many women. Still, his strength could not be denied.

He was one of the few half-emperors of the Ancient Sky Sect, and the youngest one of all.

Gu Longyu accepted, and even Springsnow did not know who would win. Although her mother said the two were equal, Springsnow was more inclined to believe that Empress Wintersnow had held back and invited Gu Longyu because she valued his potential.

To her surprise, Gu Longyu won handily. Her peak immortal monarch suitor didn’t even cut off a strand of Gu Longyu’s hair. Even when he used his most powerful technique, Gu Longyu blocked it without injury. Furious and ashamed, he abandoned his gentlemanly pretense and stormed off.

Although her plan failed, Springsnow was still happy. Between the two, she disliked her suitor more. It was only a pity that her peak immortal monarch suitor did not make it a public spar as she had hoped. Perhaps he had erred on the side of caution, and that was a good thing—for him. Otherwise, news of his defeat would have spread everywhere.

Springsnow had no plans to spread the news herself. No matter how much she disliked him, he was still an important figure in a powerful faction. Belittling him would offend almost the entire faction. That didn’t mean she gained nothing. Springsnow could still use it to threaten him or make him stop bothering her.

But that left Springsnow in a dilemma. None of her other suitors could match Gu Longyu. She didn’t expect a suitable immortal to appear himself.

He was the Autumn Night Emperor. Springsnow had called him uncle since she was young, and he had a history with her mother.

If her mother’s life were a romance novel, the Autumn Night Emperor would be the second male lead. Unfortunately, after the happy ending, tragedy struck. While carrying out a secret mission, her father died. Her mother closed off her heart because of this, and it made Springsnow truly hate the Temple of Death.

In fact, Springsnow’s current name was inherited from her mother after her mother changed her own name to Wintersnow.

Like her peak immortal monarch suitor, the Autumn Night Emperor requested a spar, to which Gu Longyu obliged. Unlike when Gu Longyu fought her mother, Springsnow finally saw Gu Longyu take action against an immortal emperor. She was convinced. Her mother had not held back, and Gu Longyu truly possessed the power of an immortal emperor, not a half-emperor, despite being an immortal monarch.

When the spar ended, the Autumn Night Emperor gave a few words of praise and some gifts before leaving. Of course, he also asked how Springsnow was doing, showing the care and concern a father should, despite not being her father.

In the following days and months, Springsnow took Gu Longyu around and showed him the public areas of the Ancient Sky Sect. Many elders also visited, intending to observe this mysterious guest, and soon, rumors of Gu Longyu’s excellence spread. Although he was not formally inducted into the Ancient Sky Sect, he was already a guest elder in all but name.

That didn’t change Gu Longyu’s interest in teasing Springsnow, causing her face to redden from anger many times. Still, Springsnow couldn’t say she didn’t benefit from the interaction. From Gu Longyu, she learned many unique and new techniques, which drastically improved her strength.

Gu Longyu didn’t do this to court a woman. Whatever Springsnow knew, the Ancient Sky Sect would know. The techniques he brought out wouldn’t raise the Ancient Sky Sect to a higher level, but they would increase its foundation by a fair margin.

It was part of his plan to deepen the relationship between the two sides. Although both sides knew of the Temple of Death’s core soul methods, neither side brought it up, treating it as a secret only they knew.

Eventually, the relationship progressed far enough that they released tidbits of information to test Gu Longyu. On the surface, this information was incriminating, but if the Temple of Death truly investigated, they would discover it was actually useless. Of course, it would still put the Ancient Sky Sect on the Temple of Death’s radar, forcing them to lie low even longer. For a ruler, suspicion alone was enough to warrant death.

The turning point came four hundred years later when Gu Longyu entered the Extremity Immortal Realm. Even the newest immortal emperor and empress, Autumn Night and Wintersnow, were over ten thousand years old before stepping into that realm, and Gu Longyu didn’t even need a tenth of their time, alarming the entire Ancient Sky Sect.

The Ancient Sky Sect saw Gu Longyu’s potential. Although he had previously displayed the power of an immortal emperor, one more immortal emperor wouldn’t change the situation much—but now, they saw a potential immortal sovereign. Then came the Ancient Sky Sect’s test. In order to trust him, Gu Longyu had to commit an act that would irrevocably place him against the Temple of Death.

Gu Longyu obliged. The Ancient Sky Sect’s attitude when telling him this was quite good, so he magnanimously forgave them for daring to test him. Besides, he understood the caution shown by the Ancient Sky Sect. People always sympathized with the weaker side, and Gu Longyu was no different.

He did not ask the Ancient Sky Sect for help, nor did the sect provide any aid. Although he was a potential immortal sovereign, if he couldn’t even do this, they would not risk drawing the wrath of the Temple of Death.

Only Springsnow showed concern, which greatly warmed Gu Longyu’s heart. Still, he maintained a confident demeanor.

So, Gu Longyu left on a night without telling anyone. He originally wanted to disappear, but he discovered that Empress Wintersnow had followed him secretly. At first, he thought the Ancient Sky Sect had sent her to monitor him, but he quickly dismissed that idea. What he was doing would shake the Death Goddess Planetary Alliance. If Empress Wintersnow’s presence was revealed, it might implicate the Ancient Sky Sect.

The more likely reason was that Springsnow had begged her mother.

Gu Longyu could only shake his head at the foolish girl. He was already an immortal emperor and had nearly returned to his peak power. Rather than help him, Empress Wintersnow might drag him down.

He originally planned to teleport to Planet Heavensong, but Empress Wintersnow appeared before him and advised against it. Gu Longyu knew that the Temple of Death monitored those who used the interplanetary teleportation array. It might not be as extensive as the Xiyi Talisman’s monitoring, but because of the greater focus, it was much more difficult to evade.

Of course, since he knew this, he had his own plans, but curious about what Empress Wintersnow would say, he followed her into outer space. There, he discovered an interplanetary teleportation array on a continent-like asteroid. From Empress Wintersnow, he learned that before a great war, there wasn’t only one interplanetary teleportation array per planet. There used to be two to four for every planet, sometimes even on the moon.

A great war erupted and ended in the Temple of Death’s victory. As a result, the interplanetary teleportation array was limited to one per planet. The array before Gu Longyu was one the Ancient Sky Sect had discovered and repaired.

“Are you sure it’s fine to tell me this?” Gu Longyu asked.

“I’ve been watching you,” Empress Wintersnow said. “I don’t trust you, but I believe you aren’t the type to obediently conform to the Temple of Death’s rules.”

Gu Longyu did not object, and the two activated the interplanetary teleportation array. Unlike current arrays, the older ones directly sent the target to predetermined coordinates, greatly increasing secrecy.

After learning this, Gu Longyu no longer found the Temple of Death’s actions strange. The current layout and method of the interplanetary teleportation array were much easier to control.

The two disappeared, and after arriving on Planet Heavensong, Empress Wintersnow vanished. Gu Longyu could still detect her, but he did not reveal this fact.

For the next hundred years, Gu Longyu hid on Planet Heavensong. He originally wanted to target Xi Yinian, since he learned that although the latter had already crossed the threshold of an immortal emperor in offense, he was still just a true immortal. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find an opportunity.

Yinian was either secretly accompanied by an immortal emperor or left Planet Heavensong. Gu Longyu had the confidence to kill an immortal emperor, but only through a sneak attack when their guard was lowered. If it were two, he would have to expose himself.

He did not want to waste too much time on Planet Heavensong. The longer he stayed, the easier it would be to detect his presence. Eventually, he settled on another immortal emperor. He chose this immortal emperor for one reason: he had an immortal body based on a true dragon.

Gu Longyu sensed a connection when he saw the immortal emperor from a distance, but it wasn’t because the immortal emperor was a Dragon Emperor clone—it was due to his cultivation method. That wasn’t to say the immortal emperor cultivated the Dragon Emperor Fist, but there was a connection. The core was the same, but the method had been altered, leading to this resonance.

This discovery further lent credence to Gu Longyu’s theory that this world was a new era following the one after the primordial era ended. He named the old era the Three Thousand Immortal Realms Era, after the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System.

So, Gu Longyu took action. As someone who cultivated the Dragon Emperor Fist, he knew what would be most enticing. When the immortal emperor detected true dragon blood essence, he was like a fish on a hook. The immortal emperor entered outer space, chasing after the bait.

Once the immortal emperor distanced himself from Planet Heavensong, Gu Longyu struck. He didn’t attack directly, but set up a powerful formation and lured the immortal emperor inside with bait. When the immortal emperor saw the corpse of a true dragon, his eyes lit up. With his guard temporarily lowered, Gu Longyu detonated everything.

The true dragon corpse had already been drained dry, and it only faintly exuded the aura of a true dragon. If the immortal emperor had investigated further, he would have discovered the flaw.

The immortal emperor survived but was grievously injured. In his current state, he could not withstand Gu Longyu’s offensive. Still, Gu Longyu did not lower his guard and used all his power to kill him. Gu Longyu had already tested it—the Xiyinet’s range was too immense. All the immortal emperor needed was a split second to transmit information through the Xiyi Talisman.

Gu Longyu successfully killed the immortal emperor, but he did not let his guard down. He immediately collected the corpse and fled. He found a secluded location and took out the corpse to extract all the blood essence to advance his immortal body. Once he succeeded, Gu Longyu would go find Empress Wintersnow and return to Planet Whitesky.

Unfortunately, Gu Longyu discovered another immortal emperor nearby once he finished draining all remaining value from the corpse. After a quick probe, he saw the insignia of the Temple of Death on the new immortal emperor’s clothes.

Gu Longyu frowned. He had traveled quite far from the location where he killed the immortal emperor, so he couldn’t help but question whether the new immortal emperor’s presence was a coincidence.

Luckily, his concealment methods had improved after learning the Temple of Death’s core soul methods. Even he had to admit their ingenuity. His familiarity allowed him to evade detection. Unfortunately, the Temple of Death had dispatched seven immortal emperors.

Even after abandoning the corpse of the immortal emperor he killed, the seven immortal emperors could still sense his general direction. Eventually, he was discovered.

Not one to fear battle, Gu Longyu struck first before they could react. Although he was the most powerful immortal emperor present, two hands could not withstand ten fists, and he was gradually pushed into a disadvantage.

For the first time in a long while, Gu Longyu felt the certainty of death. Am I really going to die? Not even at the hands of Yinian, but to these miscellaneous emperors?

Gu Longyu felt unwilling, and his offensive became even more ferocious. Time passed, and he killed six immortal emperors, but that was his limit. Just as it seemed he was about to die, a fairy in ice-blue robes appeared.

Empress Wintersnow killed one immortal emperor. All of them had been too focused on Gu Longyu and had suffered injuries, granting her the chance to claim a kill. Their counterattacks came swiftly, however, and the remaining two immortal emperors struck Empress Wintersnow, severely injuring her.

Seizing the opportunity her involvement created, Gu Longyu turned the tides and successfully slew the remaining immortal emperors.

Despite her injured state, Empress Wintersnow activated the interplanetary teleportation array, sending them away from the vicinity of Planet Heavensong. Because of her injuries, the coordinates were random, and even she didn’t know where they had teleported.

It didn’t matter, as Empress Wintersnow collapsed from her injuries. Gu Longyu, with his superior physique, carried the incapacitated immortal empress and entered an asteroid. He took out the immortal mansion and did his best to heal her while also tending to his own injuries.

So, deep in space, a man and a woman alone in a cave spent their time licking each other’s wounds.
