Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 1654: Helpless Enemy
Chapter 1654: Chapter 1654: Helpless Enemy
The situation took a sudden turn; the defensive line built around the critical laboratory had originally been able to resist Zhuo Hang. However, with Lin Yue, Leng Feng, and Gu Xiaojin joining the battle, the balance was disrupted.
Eventually, Zhuo Hang and the others broke through the defense, storming into the critical laboratory. They were instantly stunned by the scene before them and unknowingly removed their helmets.
Two enormous glass tubes were filled with liquid, and inside the liquid were two individuals—Lord Xiong and Zhuo Hang. They appeared to be immersed, like experimental specimens.
Lin Yue, confused, quickly asked, "What is this thing exactly?"
Zhuo Hang’s face grew solemn: "This is a device capable of transferring life energy. Essentially, it allows one person’s life energy to be transferred to another person. For instance, if one person is destined to live to 90 and another to 80, transferring the first person’s 90 years to the second person would allow the latter to live for 170 years."
Everyone was shocked upon hearing this. If such a life-energy-transfer device were to be widely implemented, countless lives might be sacrificed to extend others’ lifespans.
Gu Xiaojin recognized the crux of the issue and commented, "Ordinary people’s life energy is limited, but Lord Xiong and the Boss’s life energy is infinite. How does that calculate?"
Zhuo Hang furrowed his brow and sighed deeply: "This is precisely the core of the experiment—how to transfer infinite life energy to another person."
Leng Feng suspected a flaw in the mechanism and drew a comparison: "Let’s say the Boss has infinite life energy, and Lin Yue has a 100-year lifespan. If 1,000 years of life energy were extracted from the Boss and given to Lin Yue, Lin Yue could live for 1,100 years. Meanwhile, the Boss is immortal and would not lose his immortality due to the loss of 1,000 years."
Zhuo Hang explained, "This is the essence of the critical laboratory’s research. This life-transfer device currently cannot transfer life energy from individuals who are immortal. The researchers here are striving to overcome this limitation."
"Imagine the possibilities if they succeed—would the Boss’s immortality be transferred to another, or would they leverage his immortality to transfer life energy to others without any harm to the Boss?"
"Now think—if this experiment succeeds, it could provide more life energy to many people without sacrificing anyone, essentially achieving widespread immortality. But how many people would then bow down before the Dark Lord?"
Lin Yue grew anxious and impatient, blurting out, "What are you waiting for? Go destroy the device and rescue them!"
"Alright, let’s do it." Just as they prepared to act, they found themselves collectively immobilized by a strange power. No matter how hard they struggled, they couldn’t break free.
"What’s happening? This powerful supernatural force?" Gu Xiaojin was the first to realize something was amiss. Unfortunately, she couldn’t move, nor could she turn to see who was casting the spell.
A faint female voice rang out: "I’m sorry. I wish I could help you, but there are reasons beyond my control. I apologize."
Lin Yue, Zhuo Hang, and Leng Feng were still bewildered when the supernatural power lifted them into mid-air, making them feel weightless.
Under the force’s control, all four floated in the air and slowly turned around to face the spellcaster directly.
"Qian Xue Master—it’s you!" Gu Xiaojin exclaimed as soon as she identified the figure, her face lighting up with joy.
Just as Gu Xiaojin was about to address Qian Xue again, she noticed the look of helplessness on Qian Xue’s face. Given the situation, Gu Xiaojin realized something unfavorable might have happened to Qian Xue.
Zhuo Hang struggled fiercely, but even though the supernatural restraint had been lifted, he was still floating in the air. In weightlessness, his efforts proved ineffective.
Lin Yue questioned her directly: "Shennv Xuanhui is being suppressed by the X Legion. You should hate the X Legion as much as I do. Why are you here helping them?"
Faced with the accusation, Qian Xue remained silent, only instructing them to stay put to avoid increased suffering.
"Damn it! You call this skill? If you’re really capable, let us down!" Leng Feng shouted defiantly, his tone full of indignation.
Qian Xue replied calmly, "Blame your father. If he hadn’t treated Shennv Xuanhui the way he did, I wouldn’t need to deal with you like this. Compared to what he did to Shennv Xuanhui, I’m being rather lenient with you."
Hearing this, Gu Xiaojin felt Qian Xue’s resentment and quickly tried to appeal to her: "Qian Xue Master, look at me. Remember? Aunt Gu Ling brought me to join Shennv Xuanhui. I’ve never forgotten how Shennv Xuanhui nurtured me, which is why I chose to side with justice. You can too."
"Ha! Easy for you to say. You’re the Dark Lord’s daughter. Even if you opposed him, he wouldn’t harm you." Qian Xue barely finished speaking when she seemed to sense something amiss. A Strong Wind was heading her way.
Relying on her reflexes and skill, Qian Xue immediately shifted sideways dozens of steps, evading the ambush.
The only one capable of such a rescue was Gu Fan. He made his move with remarkable speed but was still detected and dodged by Qian Xue at the last moment, a testament to her abilities.
Qian Xue broke out in a cold sweat—she had narrowly avoided being struck down just moments ago.
Still shaken, she carefully examined the helmeted figure who had launched the attack.
The chaotic encounter disrupted Qian Xue’s focus, causing her to lose control of her supernatural force. Zhuo Hang, Lin Yue, Gu Xiaojin, and Leng Feng all plummeted from mid-air to the ground with a heavy thud.
The abruptness of it all left even Gu Xiaojin no time to cast a spell to levitate, and she too endured a hard fall like the others.
One, two, three, four—all were accounted for. But standing apart was a fifth person. Could this fifth person be... Qian Xue’s expression turned grim, her body tense, as she recalled Ning Qi’s warning about an invader coming from a past timeline—Gu Fan.
If Qian Xue’s guess was correct, then the helmeted fifth figure was none other than Gu Fan.
"You’ve traveled here from the past. Do you truly think you can defeat your future self?" Qian Xue deliberately raised the query to confirm his identity.
Gu Fan didn’t remove his helmet. Standing tall before Qian Xue, he responded, "It seems you’ve guessed who I am. But I’m curious—how did you figure out my identity? Was it the Dark Lord who told you?"
"That’s not something you need to know. What you should know is that this place is under my protection." With that, Qian Xue began forming hand seals once more, preparing to cast a spell.
