Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 23 - Confrontation
23: Chapter 23 Confrontation
23 -23 Confrontation
The preparations for the welcome party were in full swing.
The lighting and sound had all been adjusted, all performers had been contacted, assuring their timely arrival, and Qian Chuan, who was busy at the scene, felt that everything was smoothly progressing, believing it was going to be a successful event.
“I wonder how Gu Fan and his group are doing?” thought Qian Chuan.
Imagining Gu Fan and his comrades busying themselves over a thousand balloons brought a gleeful joy to his heart.
This is the consequence of crossing him.
Suddenly, Qian Chuan found that his laptop wouldn’t start.
The screen remained constantly black.
His heart immediately filled with trepidation.
His computer stored many files, including the entire schedules of the welcome party, when to do what, and so on.
“No way, please don’t let anything go wrong.”, Qian Chuan thought.
This laptop was entrusted to him by his teacher, nothing can go wrong.
If the welcome party gets messed up, he might not be able to serve as a member of the student council anymore.
At that moment, Qian Chuan remembered a classmate who was good at fixing computers, and immediately dialed his phone, hoping desperately that he could come to his rescue.
However, what Qian Chuan didn’t expect was that this classmate was helping Gu Fan with his balloon task, and many people were assisting Gu Fan as well, believing that they would finish soon to help Qian Chuan with his computer issue.
“It’s you again, Gu Fan.”, Qian Chuan was somewhat upset.
He knew that Gu Fan hadn’t done it intentionally, but it felt as if he had.
Having no other choice, Qian Chuan could only wait.
But after waiting for a long time, the classmate who could fix the computer still didn’t come over.
As the time grew more pressing, Qian Chuan couldn’t wait anymore and dialed his phone again.
However, the only response he got was that Gu Fan had treated them to a meal and as soon as they finished eating, they would come over right away, and asked Qian Chuan not to worry.
Hearing this, Qian Chuan calmly hung up the phone, but was nearly enraged.
He was certain that Gu Fan was intentionally delaying the classmate who could fix computers.
He muttered to himself spitefully, “You just wait, Gu Fan.”
Time passed second by second, and as night fell, the welcome party was about to start.
The first step in the opening, the second step, Qian Chuan recall these steps, but by the third step, he felt cold sweat running down his back.
As they were about to run out of time, Qian Chuan guiltily looked on as Gu Fan, Lu Yi and the classmate who could fix computers arrived together.
Seeing the dark expression on Qian Chuan’s face, Lu Yi couldn’t help but ask, “You look so awful.
Are you not feeling well?”
Qian Chuan didn’t respond, but his eyes had that murderous look, whilst the classmate who could fix computers had begun to look at Qian Chuan’s troubled laptop.
Gu Fan and Lu Yi acted as if they couldn’t care less, not seeming to pay any mind to Qian Chuan’s murderous look.
Just as both groups were drawing their swords, a teacher walked over holding a stack of printed papers.
“Teacher!”, Qian Chuan immediately put on a respectful façade, worried about what the teacher already knew.
The teacher passed the stack of papers to Qian Chuan.
Amazingly, it was the schedule for the welcome party.
Naturally, being a teacher, he would have a backup of such important documents.
However, the problem was how did the teacher know about the trouble with Qian Chuan’s computer and inability to print the schedule for the welcome ceremony?
The teacher saw the confusion on Qian Chuan’s face and said, “Thank Gu Fan!
He came to me when he heard about your laptop issue since I have a backup copy, so it’s not really a problem.
If you had come to me as soon as you discovered the problem, you wouldn’t have had to worry.”
“Thank you, sir.
I’ll be careful next time.” On the surface, Qian Chuan respectfully saw the teacher off, but inwardly condemned, “You’re good, Gu Fan.
Withholding help to fix my computer, and then turning to report me to the teacher.
Just wait and see.”
Watching Qian Chuan’s resentful gaze, Gu Fan knew what Qian Chuan was thinking, but he didn’t care.
Gu Fan, knowing that Qian Chuan had a problem, contacted the teacher immediately.
Without mentioning Qian Chuan’s issue openly, he quickly learned about the backup files.
That’s why he confidently had people not return to help Qian Chuan fix his computer.
Gu Fan figured that if Qian Chuan calmed down, he too would come up with a solution.
However, in the end, it was clear that Gu Fan had overestimated Qian Chuan, who kept pressing others to repair his computer.
Considering the urgency, Gu Fan had no choice but to tell the truth to the teacher.
If he hadn’t, the matter would have been delayed.
He had no intention of retaliating against Qian Chuan at all, finding it too tiresome to deal with such people.
As for why Gu Fan didn’t give Qian Chuan any suggestions, he was sorry, but Gu Fan, although not a petty person, wasn’t the kind who returns kindness for malice either.
Lu Yi watched Qian Chuan with a disdainful attitude, whispering to herself, “The narrow-minded!
When the computer has a problem, the primary issue is not to fix the computer, but to ask the teacher if they have backup files, so as not to delay.
The way of solving problems is wrong, if it wasn’t for Du Jun who helped you, you wouldn’t have been able to make it in the student council.”
“There’s something wrong with this computer.
I need to go back to get some tools.
I’ll be back soon.” The student repairing the computer left after saying these words.
He also felt that the atmosphere was not right, especially Qian Chuan’s murderous look had become more intense.
When there was no one around, Qian Chuan sneered, “Gu Fan, you’re really something.
You asked a lot of people to help.
You knew my computer had problems, so you delayed the repair.
You did it on purpose, didn’t you?”
“Sorry, your matter is urgent, but so is mine.
I was the first to ask for help.
There’s nothing wrong with first come, first served,” Gu Fan retorted immediately, which made Qian Chuan choke with anger.
Lu Yi shook his head.
Earlier, Lu Yi had asked Gu Fan what to do if there was no backup from the teacher.
Gu Fan’s answer was to let the person go back and fix Qian Chuan’s computer.
The main task must not be delayed.
Just because he harbored resentment against Qian Chuan, he couldn’t allow the welcome party to be ruined.
Indeed, if Gu Fan really wanted to target Qian Chuan, he wouldn’t ask the teacher for backup files or let his classmates help fix Qian Chuan’s computer.
If that were the case, Qian Chuan would be facing a huge mess now, with no way to explain it, and he might even get a scolding from the teacher.
However, in Qian Chuan’s eyes, Gu Fan was nothing but a petty, vengeful person, and he swore he’d pay him back tenfold.
Gu Fan doesn’t care about all these.
Instead, he is delightedly watching a beautiful figure jogging over.
Under the envious gazes of everyone, he greeted Lin Xi.
Seeing this, Lu Yi shook his head, “After school started, the two of them see each other every day, closely attached to each other, showing off their love every day and torturing us single folks.
It’s not at all amusing.”
“Why are you so late?
Weren’t you supposed to help me with the balloons?
We’ve already finished and now you’re here.
You didn’t even make a single balloon.” Gu Fan pretended to look disappointed, while Lin Xi stuck her tongue out playfully, “Sorry, the cashier at the school supermarket today was a new person.
They took forever trying to operate the machine.
A few students couldn’t wait any longer and almost started arguing with the newcomer.”
“Oh, really?” After pondering for a moment, Gu Fan mentioned, “Today, when we went to the bakery to buy milk tea, it seemed like there was also a newcomer, who also didn’t know how to operate the machine and messed up several milk tea orders.
I was speechless.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Yi was surprised, “Speaking of which, my roommate said the security guard at the back door has been replaced as well.
We’ve never seen him before.”
Gu Fan didn’t mind, “It seems like there’s a new atmosphere with the new semester.
Not only do students come and go, but the staff of various positions in the school are also changing.
And that’s good.”
“Okay, help me watch my bag.
I’m going to prepare in the backstage,” Lin Xi said cheerily as she handed her backpack to Gu Fan before scurrying off.
She was the star of the dance society, which was definitely performing at this welcome party so it was only natural that she would make an appearance.
Although Qian Chuan was also in the dance society, his dancing skills were mediocre, and he was usually busy with student council work, so he generally would not appear in such events.
Seeing that Qian Chuan was still fuming, Lu Yi whispered to Gu Fan, “I have a feeling that Qian Chuan will settle scores with us sooner or later.
We better be prepared.”
“There is nothing to fear.
We don’t cause trouble, but we’re also not afraid of it.
As long as we maintain a good relationship with the teachers, he can’t do anything to us,” Gu Fan was not concerned about this matter at all.
What he was thinking about was how to make the most out of the four years in college to improve himself.
Just then, Qian Chuan, who was not yet content, coldly glanced at them, causing Lu Yi to feel uncomfortable, and whispered to Gu Fan, “If there is really going to be a third missing student, I hope it is Qian Chuan.”
At this, Gu Fan frowned, “That’s no joke.
Even though we have conflicts, we wouldn’t wish for them to have an accident.”
Lu Yi realized that having such thoughts was wrong and quickly explained, “Don’t misunderstand, Gu Fan, I’m not ill-intentioned.
I’m talking hypothetically.
If there must be a third person who disappears and you are forced to choose, and the person you least want it to be is Lin Xi, who would you prefer it to be?”
Gu Fan was silent for a while.
He had an answer in his heart, but he still shook his head, “I don’t want to answer such hypothetical questions.”
“Alright, forget I asked,” Lu Yi shrugged, acting as if he had already put the question behind him, planning to enjoy the welcome party.
But Gu Fan kept thinking about Lu Yi’s question.
For some reason, when the topic of a third missing person came up, he felt a chill down his spine.
Meanwhile, at the school gate, a car was parked, with Sister Leng sitting inside, staring intently at the school, her expression somber.
She then picked up her walkie-talkie and said, “Everyone, be on alert.
Even though we’re at school and the chances of students getting into trouble is low, we still need to be prepared for any unforeseen situations.
You should all know that our adversaries are unpredictable.”
