Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 566: Blocking with Supernatural Power
Chapter 566: Chapter 566: Blocking with Supernatural Power
Fog shrouded the sea and the cargo ship, permeating every inch of the ship. Some cabins remained fog-free due to tightly shut doors, although eventually, all were breached by some mysterious force. frёewebnoѵēl.com
At that very moment, Lin Xi and her companions were in the control room, watching as the CCTV footage was gradually consumed by the fog until nothing could be seen on the screen.
Su Hui understood exactly what this meant: the fog had taken over most of the cabins. The eerily controlled manner in which it engulfed areas step-by-step made it seem as if it was under some kind of command.
Gu Ling sat on the floor, embracing her knees, her face pale and trembling: "It’s no good... We can’t escape."
"Don’t be afraid, Xiaoling, with your future sister-in-law here, there’s nothing we can’t handle." Lin Xi assured her, despite feeling a touch of fear facing the unknown herself.
On one of the CCTV screens, a crew member was seen attempting to flee, chased by the encroaching fog. Suddenly, it seemed as if something extended from the fog, grabbed the crewman by the collar, and dragged him back into the mist.
Through the screen, they could sense the man’s desperate scream. The scene caused Qin Jia to shudder with fear as well, placing all her hopes in Lin Xi, the group’s most capable member.
Su Hui tried to comfort the group: "Don’t be scared. We’re safe as long as the cabin doors stay shut and keep the fog out."
Nonetheless, Qin Jia remained worried: "But Sister Su, did you see how something forcefully blew the doors open? Gu Fan and the others had to escape through another passage. We don’t have another escape route. If something attacks, we’ll be trapped."
Just as Qin Jia finished speaking, they heard heavy footsteps growing steadily closer. It sounded as if whatever it was, was about to reach their door.
"You’ve got to be kidding me... We fear it, and here it comes?" Su Hui furrowed her brow, brandishing her stick, ready for combat.
Lin Xi quickly pulled Gu Ling closer, her gaze fixed on the door. She swallowed nervously, her supernatural power already mustered up.
They waited in anxious silence, their heart rates accelerating. They were confident something was lurking outside their door.
A loud bang sent the room into disarray. Their door suffered an unknown external impact, leaving it deformed. This commotion and the increasingly deformed door left the four women terrified.
With a second bang, the deformation of the door worsened. It seemed on the verge of collapse, and gaps began to appear, through which the ominous fog seeped in. The situation was dire.
"You bastards, who do you think you’re dealing with!" Lin Xi gritted her teeth, stomped her feet, and used her magical powers to generate a shockwave directing the deformed door back into place.
As the spell caster, Lin Xi felt something blocking the door when her magic forced it shut. It felt like something was about to break in.
But Lin Xi didn’t bother dwelling on that. She proceeded to cast a spell, reciting the incantation, and using her psychokinesis to infiltrate beyond the door.
A shrill cry echoed from outside, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps fading into the distance. It seemed that Lin Xi’s magic had worked, driving off the unknown threat.
With the immediate threat seemingly abated, the four women sighed a breath of relief, thanking their stars for Lin Xi’s presence. Without her, their situation would surely have taken a grim turn.
Lin Xi frowned, "Now is not the time to relax. Remember, our companions are still out there. They are in danger."
"So, what do we do? We can’t just leave my brother alone." Gu Ling was worried about Gu Fan, while Su Hui and Qin Jia yearned to help as well.
Lin Xi nodded, "Indeed, we can’t abandon Gu Fan and the others. But the problem is that we don’t know where they are. The entire cabin is filled with fog, and we’ve lost track of Gu Fan on the CCTV."
Just then, a scream echoed throughout the ship, causing the heart rate of the four women to quicken again. They didn’t know who it was, but the scream was filled with unmistakable despair and terror.
Lin Xi gritted her teeth, "I can’t navigate through this fog alone. I don’t know what dangers are hidden within it, but with you Gu Ling, we can be prepared."
"Alright, let’s move quickly. Lin Xi, you go first, followed by Qin Jia, then Gu Ling. I’ll guard the rear," suggested Su Hui. They all approved of this arrangement.
Before setting off, they tied themselves together with a rope to avoid getting separated in the fog.
Once ready, Lin Xi cast a spell, the deformed door collapsed, and the fog immediately rushed inside, swallowing the control room swiftly, but not the four women.
Under the effect of Lin Xi’s magic, the fog was held at bay. The area surrounding the four women remained clear, facilitating their journey ahead.
"How’s everything, Xiaoling?" Lin Xi turned, seeking Gu Ling’s opinion.
Gu Ling closed her eyes, concentrating on her sense of the surroundings, before finally nodding, "It’s safe, Sister Lin Xi. We can proceed."
"Alright everyone, stay close." Lin Xi led the way out of the control room, facing the white expanse ahead, she took a deep breath and continued to move forward.
Next was Qin Jia. Her fear caused her hands and feet to tremble uncontrollably, making it difficult for her to maintain balance as she walked. Nonetheless, she forced herself to keep going.
Gu Ling knew that Lin Xi, leading the way, was the one taking the most significant risk. Hence, her ability to sense danger had to be accurate. If Lin Xi encountered trouble, no one else would stand a chance against the mysterious fog.
Everyone prayed, hoping that Gu Ling’s sensing ability wouldn’t fail them at this critical juncture.
As they proceeded quietly, the ominous thudding of footsteps resounded once more through the fog. Lin Xi was on high alert, ready for combat, but Gu Ling silently signaled for her to hold her position.
Heeding Gu Ling’s words, Lin Xi abstained from any rash actions. Gu Ling’s sensing abilities didn’t disappoint. She felt the origin of the footstep noises and directed Lin Xi to change their course.
The constant thudding of the footsteps in the fog receded, indicating that they had managed to evade the lurking threat.
This experience boosted the confidence of the four women. Lin Xi had the ability to handle crises, and Gu Ling had the ability to sense them. They made a strong team, capable of overcoming the many challenges that lay ahead.
Although Su Hui realized the danger had subsided, it didn’t guarantee the safety of Gu Fan and the others. She knew they needed to find them as quickly as possible. However, she felt a tad bit disappointed, given that there had been no use for her fighting skills amidst all this chaos.
But after reflecting on it, Su Hui accepted the reality. As they were facing such a predicament, their safe passage was all that mattered. If she couldn’t contribute much, so be it.
Suddenly, a thudding noise from above startled the four highly-strung women. It took a while for them to recover. They felt as if their hearts wouldn’t be able to handle another shock like that.
