Chapter 1756: Chapter 1756: Get the Marriage Certificate First

Charlotte Thompson looked at Justin Battleson’s face, her expression somewhat complex as she spoke.

But Justin was quicker and reached out to place a finger against Charlotte’s lips, gently rubbing the corner of her lips with his fingertip.

"I know." Justin said, smiling warmly at Charlotte.

"Right now, Grace is still in the hospital, so how could I choose to remarry you at this time?"

With that, Justin curled Charlotte’s palm, lowering his head to plant a kiss on her fingertip.

"We still have a lot of time, everything can proceed slowly." He said.

Charlotte pressed her lips together and looked at Justin with a smile: "Thank you, Justin."

Hearing Charlotte’s words, Justin brushed her nose with a doting tone.

"Silly girl, what’s there to thank me for? Grace is our daughter, you feel for her, and so do I."

However, Justin didn’t maintain this serious demeanor for long; in the next second, he rolled his eyes at Charlotte and said:

"But I think the wedding can wait, however, shouldn’t we first get the marriage certificate back?"

"Justin!" Charlotte feigned annoyance, giving Justin a glare, but there was no real blame in her tone.

...

The next day, with the children off school at home, Charlotte took them to the hospital as she had promised the day before.

Grace was still unconscious and unable to talk or chat with the kids, but they were willing to stay in the ward with her, each of them quiet.

Soon, the hospital doctor came for a routine check on Grace Thompson’s condition.

Charlotte stood by Grace’s bedside, but just then her phone rang, so she had to step out into the corridor to answer it.

Before Charlotte could say anything, the sound of crying came from the other end of the line.

"Daughter, it’s been so many years, come home and see us, your dad and mom miss you a lot."

Charlotte paused for a moment, clearly unfamiliar with the voice.

But the person on the other end continued regardless:

"Mom and Dad know we were wrong, we’ve missed you all these years. What happened back then, we had no other choice; if we hadn’t done it, you might not have survived, Kiana, you’re our only daughter..."

Hearing this, although Charlotte knew her action might be impolite, she still interrupted the woman’s words:

"Sorry, you’ve got the wrong number, I’m not your daughter."

"Kiana, how can you say something like that in anger? We truly know we were wrong..."

"You’ve really got the wrong number, I’m not." Charlotte patiently explained.

Though the woman seemed poised to cry out further, Charlotte interrupted her this time, citing the need to check the number to stop her from speaking.

After a while, the woman let out an embarrassed laugh: "I’m really sorry, miss, it seems we’ve indeed dialed the wrong number; your number is so similar to my daughter’s."

Meanwhile, during Charlotte’s phone call, only the children and the nurse changing Grace’s medication remained in the ward.

The nurse, wearing a mask that covered most of her face, didn’t immediately pick up any tools from the trolley but instead, raised her gaze, glancing at the other children in the ward.

However, it seemed to be nothing more than a curious action.
