Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Pressure Eyes

Akaris was not pleased, his face twisted with a friend as he dodged the attacks of the blood spawns around him.

His attack had landed but even before the blue energy cleared he could already tell the damage was not that much.

He had seen it clearly, the energy cleared and the blood feaster appeared in its full glory.

Some of its tentacles had fallen to the ground with a few laced with heavy wounds, black blood dripped to the island floor causing it to sizzle.

One might wonder how it had managed to block in time when the arrow was that fast, the truth was that, the blood feaster wasn’t that fast.

However it was as if it had future sight just like him, it used its tentacles to block a split second before he released the arrow.

Perhaps it just had extremely high senses but whatever it was would make it almost impossible for him to kill this thing.

He drew his bow again and started running, it chased after him crashing through the blood spawns like they were paper statues.

Akaris bent down and dodged one of its tentacles then shot an arrow for its eye, it moved another tentacle to block.

’ I was right.’ his theory was now one hundred percent certain, this thing was moving a split second before he attacked.

He didn’t know if it had future sight or if it had extremely high senses nor did he know how to test it out.

He jumped up and did a back flip, it had fewer tentacles now but dodging them was still not easy.

However he had figured out a way to cope even without future sight, like an actual whip on the tip of the tentacles could move faster than sound.

The rest of their bodies were much slower so opening the distance between him and the blood feaster was more dangerous.

So he got closer, while there was less space to dodge, his body could keep up much better with the speed.

Using future sight on top made it even easier, of course the blood feaster kept lunging at him with its fangs.

When it did that he would retreat but only to keep a distance from its face. Just like that their dance continued.

After what felt like hours Akaris found himself getting tired. The blood feaster did not let up.

He slightly twisted his body to dodge but he was too exhausted, his body failed to react in time.

The tentacle landed on his chest and the mana skin cracked, he flew back like a ragdoll and rolled a dozen metres away.

His arms were now shaking from exhaustion and his fingers were bleeding from pulling the bow string.

He was nearly out of mana and the rest of his body felt like it had been punched by a hundred men.

He forced himself to stand up and roll away, the ground cracked where he had been as a tentacle landed there like a giant whip.

He reached for his quiver, it only had four arrow which meant it has only been around four hours.

He regretted not using his mana to speed up the creation of arrows earlier but he couldn’t do that now.

The mana he had was to maintain the mana skin, without it he would die in a single attack.

The blood feaster pounced on him but he didn’t run away, that would be a huge mistake instead he got close.

He could no longer use future sight and his body was too exhausted, dodging the blood feasters attacks became too hard.

Without another choice he pushed his body to the limit, his eyes darted through the air looking for openings.

He only had four arrows and needed to use them widely. Seeing no results he took a gamble and used hawk eyes.

This reduced the mana empowering his mana skin weakening it in the process. The works moved slower.

However that was not why he used it, hawk eyes increased his eyesight by a large magnitude.

He hoped it would show him some small openings ye could exploit but it was not so easy.

The more he kept using hawk eyes the weaker his mana skin got, his hawk eyes were pushed to the brink.

Blood fell down his golden eyes like tears making the blood feaster grow mad with hunger.

At that moment something clicked, ( Hawk Eyes has reached level 10, +4 perception.) 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

The increase in perception was nice but that was not what made him happy. Akaris saw it, an opening.

Or rather he saw tiny red dots on specific points on the base of the tentacles, he had a slight idea what they were but he couldn’t be sure until he tried.

He dodged to side and a tentacle passed by him, before the blood feaster could pull it back he shot his arrow.

The arrow pierced through the red dot but failed to go in top deep, these wooden arrows lacked the speed and penetrative power of mana arrows.

He sighed thinking it was a failure then the blood feaster screeched so loud he felt his ears buzz.

The tentacle fell limply on the ground, it was unable to move it anymore. He opened his eyes wide with surprise and glee.

’ Pressure point.’ he thought it was a weakness like a soft spot but it seems he was mistaken.

It was a pressure point that could paralyse the tentacles. Each tentacle had such a pressure point.

He drew another arrow, like the first time he easily shot another pressure point taking out a second tentacle.

Then he shot down a third, he was left with one arrow but the blood feaster still have 8 tentacles it could use.

He gritted his teeth and realised he would need to use his sword or give up mana skin entirely to use mana arrows.

Both options were dangerous but the second one was more so. He jumped to the side dodging a tentacle.

He saw a wide opening and fired, his arrow pierced through the air accurately aiming for the pressure.

" Shit." He cursed before it happened, another tentacle suddenly blocked the path of the arrow.

He realised, the blood feaster had baited him.
