Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Light Blade

Akaris ran out of arrows, the only thing left was to use his sword, he pulled it out and used it to deflect a tentacle to the side.

The force sent him staggering but he stabilized himself in time. He took a step forward.

Two tentacles blocked his path forcing him to retreat, the ground cracked Infront of him as the tentacles landed.

The blood feaster had learnt to use them close to its body which was bad news for him.

He had to get close to hit the pressure points but at this rate that would be incredibly hard. Everytime he tried to get close it would attack him forcing him back.

However the longer they fought the better he got, he achieved the state of tranquility once again.

He felt his sword leading him and he just followed. He held the claymore with both hands.

A claymore was a two handed sword, this was the proper way to use it. He lunged forward.

Two tentacles flew for his chest like spears while others came from the sides, he was being attacked from all sides.

However he did not panic and continued moving forward then he side stepped to the left like a blur.

Of course this was not enough to dodge them, so he raised his sword and hit the tip of one tentacle.

The force diverted it to another sending both to the side. He then twisted his body dodging another tentacle.

He infused a bit of mana into his sword and cut into that tentacle, he wasn’t able to cut all the way through but this was enough.

The blood feaster screeched in pain and attacked in a frenzy but his sword flowed like a river.

He was outclassed in speed and strength but that worked in his favour. With his improved swordsmanship.

He was able to use the blood feaster ’s strength against it. The closely packed tentacles became a burden instead.

While intelligent for a monster it wasn’t intelligent enough to think that clearly, all it knew was that it wanted him dead.

Akaris used the less amount of movements as he possibly an to dodge and diverted its attacks.

However he still couldn’t get close no matter how hard he tried and while he made it look easy it was anything but.

Diverting the force of its attacks still sent some force through his arms, dancing around to dodge its tentacles placed a massive burden on his legs.

That’s on top of his already being exhausted, he knew he couldn’t keep this up forever.

Before long he was going to fall, he knew that but there was nothing he can do. He still had one move.

However he can only use that once before it needs some to recharge. He needed to wait for the perfect moment to use it.

Thw blood feaster continued pressing him, the pressure placed on his body grew with each second.

His body was finding it harder and harder to cope, his muscles screamed at him as if they were burning.

Yet he did not use his trump card, it was not time yet. He jumped back to dodge another swipe of its tentacle.

Crack, he felt a wave of pain bombard his brain, he had sprained his ankle, when he jumped back, his left foot landed on one of the cracks caused by the blood feaster.

This created an opening for the blood feaster and it did not waste it, seven tentacles flew at him from all directions.

From this distance it was nearly impossible for him to dodge. He couldn’t even rely on his trump card.

It takes a second to use it and he did not have that long. So he did something he swore to not use again unless necessary.

And this was necessary, he infused his body with mana, this time he clearly felt his mana veins being damaged.

( Adaptation activated.) With his new speed Akaris moved, his body twisted at an impossible angle.

He dodged the first two tentacles then jumped up and twisted mid air dodging another three.

He kicked off one of them forcing his body down this dodging the last ones, however doing so placed a massive burden on his body.

( Adaptation has reached level 11, skill Supreme Reflex created.)

He had no time to check in supreme reflect because he had used a potion of his limited mana.

He now only had mana to use his trump card and he was not wasting it. After dodging those tentacles he retreated.

The mana in his body was being expended slowly but it was not unlimited. Akaris tried something else.

Instead of letting waste he drew that mana into his soul or whatever mana came from only to find out he couldn’t.

So he sighed and stood a death breath, the blood feaster screeched loudly, its voice sounded like the wailing of a thousand souls.

It pounced on him, its tentacles drew dark arcs through the air cutting towards him like heavy ropes.

Akaris took a drawing stance and the world seemed to slow down. Since he couldn’t return the mana back.

He directed it to towards his claymore then poured the last of the mana he had into the claymore.

The wave of tentacles drew closer and closer and when they were only a metres from his face he moved. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

" Light blade." He whispered and swung his sword. Light bringer shine with a blinding light.

When the light touched the blood spawns their faces twisted with agony then they disappeared into thin air.

However that was merely a side effects, the real attack was yet to come. He swung a wide arc at the blood feaster.

A crescent blade of light 3 metres long shot out like lightning. The blood feaster had no time to react.

Its tentacles were cleaved cleanly by blade and it continued with a world shaking momentum.

The light blade drew a large gash on the blood feaster’s face sending a wave of black blood through the air.

The blood feaster was sent crashing back, its body rolled on the ground like a hill until I fell into the blood sea.

Akaris sighed with relief, he was so exhausted he could barely stand and his head felt like it was being split apart.

He fell on his knees but before he could close his eyes to rest he saw a shadow rise out of the sea.

’ Oh shit.’
