Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 207: Burning Bridges After the Mill is Unyoked
Winston Valentine’s eyes darkened slightly, "Let her in."
Jane Shea, with her exquisite makeup, wearing a water blue dress and an alluring figure, took off her sunglasses and smiled at Winston Valentine, "I thought President Valentine wouldn’t want to see me."
Winston Valentine looked at her expressionlessly, "You’re indeed not qualified to see me."
Jane Shea sat on the sofa at the side as she pleased, "President Valentine, this trick of yours, playing the game and then discarding, is really skilful."
Winston Valentine leaned back against the chair, letting out a cold laugh, "I have always been clear about debts."
"Without me, Vera Yves would have been Mrs. Monroe by now." Jane Shea looked at him with a dark gaze, "President Valentine’s way of repaying kindness is to ruin someone’s future?"
"She is my woman now." Winston Valentine’s voice was cold and distant, "Be smart and stay away from her."
Jane Shea looked at the man in front of her, handsome in appearance, tall in stature, his worth was extraordinary, he could be said to be the most esteemed man in Imperia.
An outstanding man like him was particularly fond of Vera Yves. What does Vera have? It’s just that her background is better than mine.
"I want to be the leading actress in Director Warren’s film." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Winston Valentine eyed her indifferently, "You’re not qualified to negotiate with me."
Jane Shea calmly looked at him, "Winston Valentine, aren’t you afraid I’ll go to Vera Yves?"
"If you want to have nothing, feel free to try."
Jane Shea had already expected him to not be so agreeable and looked at him mockingly, "Love mixed with calculation, do you really think it’ll last? She loved Miles Monroe for so many years; if she had the chance to choose again, she would undoubtedly abandon you."
Jane Shea looked at him with sympathy, "The dignified president of the Valentine Group is still so humble in love, it’s truly pathetic."
Winston Valentine’s gaze turned icy, "I don’t like to drag things in business. We are already settled; if you persist in troubling me, I don’t mind teaching you what integrity means."
Jane Shea met his gaze, feeling a chill down her spine.
Winston Valentine pressed the intercom, "See the guest out."
Jane Shea gritted her teeth unwillingly; she simply allowed her fans to cyberbully Vera Yves, yet this man ruined her chance as the leading actress in a major production and even planted someone from the opposition into it, deliberately aggravating her.
After the major production was canceled, somehow rumors started circulating in the circle that she had offended some big shot.
She transformed from a hot female star to a scapegoat everyone avoided.
She had struggled for years to build her career, why should it all be ruined because of Vera Yves! She knew that as long as she was connected to Vera Yves, nothing good would come of it!
Walter Lowell escorted Jane Shea out, then walked in with documents into Winston Valentine’s office.
Having signed the papers, Winston Valentine commanded coldly, "Give her some resources, not too good, just enough to keep from starving."
Only when a person has nothing will they have the courage to take drastic actions.
Walter Lowell replied respectfully.
Vera Yves was at Linda Young’s studio, watching the final cut of the first episode of the documentary. In front of the camera, under the makeup artist’s genius hands, Nathan Norton bore a five to six part resemblance to young Old Mr. Yves.
After watching it, Vera Yves felt as if she saw her grandfather across time and her eyes turned red.
Linda Young handed her a tissue, "How’s my taste, sister? I told you Nathan was suitable."
Nathan Norton also came to the studio; recently, he didn’t work out much to fit Old Mr. Yves’s temperament, becoming more steady, even his clothing style had changed to something more traditional.
Seeing him, Vera Yves’s gaze softened considerably, "Let’s have lunch together; consider it a thank you."
Nathan Norton was rather unsettled, "Sister, we just filmed one episode, are you already firing me?"
Vera Yves smiled, "What are you thinking? You acted so well, I just want to thank you."
Nathan Norton looked at her smiling face awkwardly scratching his head; in fact, he didn’t act much, just followed Vera Yves’s requirements, picking herbs, processing them, and reading medical books.
The three went to a Chinese restaurant, and as soon as they entered, they ran into Seth Quinn, who was the first to react and greeted Vera Yves with a smile, "Vera, long time no see."
Vera Yves looked at him politely, "Long time no see."
Previously at Vera Yves’s wedding to Miles Monroe, Seth Quinn served as a groomsman, now facing Vera Yves, he couldn’t help but look a bit awkward.
A group of people entered through the door, Seth Quinn waved to them, "The private room is already booked."
Linda Young had also booked a private room, it was on the third floor; she wrapped her arm around Vera Yves and walked into the elevator, Nathan Norton went to take a phone call, Seth Quinn and his group also walked to the elevator.
Vera Yves glanced at Miles Monroe with a start, Miles stood at the forefront of the crowd, his gaze fell on Vera Yves, also looking somewhat surprised.
Someone from behind cluelessly patted his shoulder, "Miles, why are you standing there? Let’s go in."
Several people also entered the elevator.
After entering, Miles stood behind Vera Yves, Linda Young tightened her grip on Vera Yves’s arm and whispered in her ear, "Should we change places to eat?"
The elevator door closed slowly, Vera Yves shook her head, "It’s okay."
"Miles, heard you took the Hughes Family’s case?"
A man’s calm voice came from behind, "Not confirmed yet."
"His wife is the eldest daughter of the Valentine Family; their divorce involves assets amounting to billions, huh?"
The voice beside couldn’t hide excitement, "If you take it, you could easily earn tens of millions."
Monroe didn’t respond further; his gaze continued to linger on the woman in front, seeming a bit dazed.
"Ding," the elevator door opened.
Linda Young pulled Vera Yves out first.
Someone recognized Vera Yves, wanting to greet her, but Miles Monroe pressed his hand, asking Seth Quinn, "Which private room?"
They entered the private room.
Linda Young complained, "Really, enemies always meet in narrow paths."
Vera Yves said indifferently, "With so little space, it’s inevitable to run into each other."
"So now when you run into each other, you don’t even greet?"
Vera Yves didn’t respond.
Linda Young sighed, "Should have never been together back then, at least you’d still be friends, how is it now? The most familiar strangers?"
Linda Young was a high school classmate of Vera Yves, thus she knew Miles Monroe through Vera Yves, calling him Miles.
Regarding Vera Yves’s teenage hearts, she knew them best.
The waiter beside handed the menu to them; after ordering dishes, Nathan Norton returned to the private room.
Soon they would shoot the second episode, Linda Young advised him to control his weight, Nathan obediently followed, not daring to eat too much.
Midway through lunch, Linda Young received a phone call, her expression turned sour, and she left the room with her coat.
Leaving Vera Yves and Nathan Norton.
Perhaps because Nathan Norton played Old Mr. Yves, Vera Yves became friendly with him, using serving chopsticks to give him a few bites.
"She’s gone out, feel free to eat more."
Nathan Norton ate heartily while still complaining, "Linda can be really scary when she’s fierce."
Winston Valentine pushed open the private room door, seeing Vera Yves looking tenderly at Nathan Norton while giving him a piece of fish with her hand.
Vera Yves raised her head and saw Winston Valentine, a bit surprised, got up, and walked to his side, "Why are you here?"
Winston Valentine held her waist and leaned over to kiss her lips.
Feeling there seemed to be someone in the corridor, Vera Yves gave him a push, but Winston Valentine had already brought her into the private room and shut the door.
