Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 206: Aren’t You Upset?
The sunset’s glow spilled over the two of them, and Vera Yves looked up at him with some surprise.
Winston Valentine kissed her lips and, in the next moment, jumped down while holding her.
Vera closed her eyes, the intense feeling of weightlessness brought tears to her eyes as she tightly clung to the man before her, and everything around seemed to disappear.
Falling, bouncing back up.
Not knowing how many times it repeated.
Then it gradually calmed down.
"Thump, thump, thump," someone’s heartbeat was racing wildly.
Back on the ground, Vera’s legs weakened further, and Winston wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes before bending down to kiss her lips again. In anger, Vera bit him.
Winston furrowed his brow and let her go due to the pain, looking at her pouting face, he couldn’t help but pinch her cheek, "Are you really mad?"
Vera didn’t want to pay him any mind.
"You were so loud, my ears are hurting."
"You deserved it."
Winston took her hand and slapped his own face with it, "I’ll let you hit, until you’re no longer angry."
Vera looked into his amused eyes; though she was initially scared, having him by her side made it not as frightening as she’d imagined, rather exhilarating.
Vera withdrew her hand and glared at him, "Can you stop being so possessive?"
"So, you weren’t here with him?"
Vera fell silent for a moment, "That was years ago."
Back then, it was a group of people, but sure enough, her eyes were fixed only on Miles Monroe.
She was scared to tears by the bungee jump, and he had been there comforting her the whole time.
"I should have stolen you away for puppy love the first time you called me brother."
"Aren’t you a bore?"
"Call me brother again, let me hear it." Winston hugged her, coaxing her softly, "Brother will buy you candy."
Vera’s cheeks reddened slightly, feeling a strong urge to shut him up.
On their return trip, it was already past six in the evening, and Hannah Hayes called Vera to come home for dinner.
Winston took her back home and stayed for dinner too.
Hannah Hayes saw Winston and greeted him before heading back into the kitchen.
"Bang!"
Suddenly, a loud noise came from upstairs.
Harry Yves’s furious voice rang out, "Are you trying to drive me mad?"
"She attempted suicide, so I have to marry her?" Mark Yves was clearly angry too, "Then if I try to kill myself, will you give up this ridiculous idea? Want me to jump right here and now?"
"Jumping here won’t kill you, go jump from the roof! Jump to your doom, I’ll support you your whole life! Otherwise, one day, you’ll drive me to my grave!"
"Fine, I’ll go jump then! Perfect, I can pair with Mia Tate!"
"Bang!"
The door was slammed shut violently.
Hannah Hayes came out from the kitchen, "Mark Yves, come down here!"
Vera and Winston went upstairs together, seeing Mark indeed heading to the roof, Vera walked over, dragged him down, and kicked him hard in the calf.
Mark winced in pain, "Vera, are you crazy!"
"When faced with issues, what do you do besides escaping?" Vera looked at him with bitter disappointment, "You’ve been gone for over half a month, if it weren’t for your irresponsible behavior, would Mia Tate have tried to commit suicide?"
"She’s just trying to force me to marry her!"
"Mia Tate is not that kind of girl."
"If she’s so great, why don’t any of you marry her?"
Winston gave him a glance, and Mark immediately felt a bit guilty, "I knew getting dragged back is bad news."
The phone rang, and Winston took it out, stepping aside to answer. His expression grew heavier by the moment.
Hanging up, Winston walked over to the two, looking at Vera, "I have something to deal with, I’ll leave first."
Vera nodded.
Winston gave Mark a cold look, "Have a proper talk with your sister, if you dare leave home again, be prepared for me to handle you."
Mark swore inwardly.
Winston went downstairs, greeted Hannah Hayes, and then left the Yves Family, instructing the driver to head to the Shelby family’s villa.
Melinda Shelby sat on the sofa in the living room, watching financial news on TV.
She was leisurely sipping tea, signaling the maid to pour Winston a cup when he entered.
"Uncle Sterling brought this black tea back for me from a business trip last time, the taste isn’t bad, give it a try."
Winston seated himself on the adjacent sofa, "What are you planning to do?"
Melinda Shelby smiled at him, "Naturally, what should be done should be done. Committing a crime means going to jail."
Winston’s gaze deepened, "Are you sure?"
"Winston, haven’t you always disliked him?" Melinda Shelby took another sip, "Won’t you be happy if he goes to jail?"
Regarding Henry Sterling, Winston’s feelings are a bit complicated. Ever since he found out about him and his mother, Winston had been very averse to him, even disgusted by him.
However, before that, Henry had always played a significant role in his heart.
"At this time, if you agree to divorce him, there’s still a chance to turn things around."
Melinda Shelby clenched her teacup, "Divorcing him at this time, would negate all my efforts over the years, right? Back when he married me for alliance, he took advantage of the Shelby family, overcame your uncles, and took control of the Valentine Family! Then, he turned against the Shelby family, all just to marry that woman!
Melinda Shelby’s eyes filled with hatred, "I loved him so much, supported him wholeheartedly, and this is how he repaid me! If I hadn’t been ruthless enough, the Shepherd Group would have vanished from Imperia long ago! And you? Wouldn’t be the successor of anything!"
Melinda Shelby steadied her emotions, "He wants to marry that woman, but I just won’t let him have his way! He has evidence; don’t I have any? At our level, how many people are truly clean! If he strikes me once, I’ll strike back tenfold!"
"Are you so sure that Henry Sterling won’t sell you out?" Winston’s expression darkened, "Even a rabbit will bite when cornered."
Melinda Shelby chuckled, looking at Winston with a pointed remark, "In this world, the only person who will never betray me is him."
"Aren’t you afraid those evidences could be enough for him to get the death penalty?"
Melinda Shelby’s gaze wavered, she looked at Winston, "Winston, in your eyes, does your mother lack such judgment?"
Winston was silent for a moment, "Getting someone in is easy, getting them out is much harder; you’d better think it over."
Winston stood up and left. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Melinda Shelby went upstairs, Henry Sterling had prepared the bathwater for her. Seeing her come in, he massaged her shoulders, "Did Winston come by?"
Melinda Shelby smiled at him, "You’ve cared for him all these years, and he still holds you dear."
Henry Sterling kissed the top of her head, "Tomorrow, someone will probably come to take me away, I’ve taken care of everything, and arranged a new assistant for you. But as the negative news comes out, the company will definitely be affected, you must be careful in everything."
Melinda Shelby turned to look at him, "Do you blame me?"
Henry Sterling shook his head, "At our age now, matters shouldn’t be so bold anymore, it’s time to gradually pass the group onto Winston."
"He said he has a way to stop Tristan Valentine from marrying that woman." Melinda Shelby sneered, "Then I’ll just wait and see."
Early the next morning, Henry Sterling was taken away for investigation on charges including bribery and illegal fundraising.
Winston saw the news while in his office.
Walter Lowell knocked on the door, bringing him back to his senses.
"President Valentine, Miss Jane Shea is here to see you."
