Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 83: Winston Valentine Is Not Even Fit to Be Human
Thirty-something steps down the staircase, Cecilia Vaughn’s face turned ghastly pale as she tumbled down.
She was wearing a white evening gown, and the blood quickly spread underneath her, a shocking sight.
"Cecilia!" Samantha Warren rushed over frantically, holding Cecilia Vaughn, angrily glaring at Vera Yves, "Vera, you’re so vicious, actually pushing Cecilia down the stairs, are you trying to kill her!"
Vera Yves snapped back to reality, she had only shaken Cecilia Vaughn’s hand away, how could that slight force have possibly pushed her down the stairs.
Even now, Cecilia Vaughn was still scheming against her!
Vera Yves descended the stairs, her voice calm, "I didn’t push her."
Not an explanation to anyone, just stating a fact.
The people around gathered quickly.
"What do you mean? Could Cecilia have fallen down the stairs on her own?" Samantha Warren wanted to tear her apart, "Let me tell you, if anything happens to Cecilia, I’ll make you pay with your life!"
A tall figure swiftly came through the crowd.
Seeing him, Cecilia Vaughn reached out like she was grasping at a lifeline, "Winston... it hurts..."
Stella Valentine didn’t expect to witness such drama, she rushed out of the crowd, pointing at Vera Yves, "Vera, even if Cecilia Vaughn is pregnant with my third brother’s child, and my brother Winston wants to divorce you, you don’t have to be so ruthless!"
At these words, a stir erupted; no one expected to hear such explosive news.
"I always knew she’d be kicked out by The Valentine Family!"
"Married for over three years and still no children, the in-laws must surely disapprove!"
"Can’t have kids herself and won’t let others, this could end up in two deaths, absolutely vicious!"
"Exactly, how can there be someone so cruel in this world!"
The crowd stared at Vera Yves with disdainful eyes.
Stella Valentine looked at Vera Yves with a triumphant stance, "You cruel-hearted, venomous woman!"
She raised her hand, but her wrist was caught by someone.
Miles Monroe pushed her away, Stella Valentine looked at him incredulously, "Miles Monroe, didn’t you see what Vera Yves did? Yet you protect her?"
Miles Monroe looked at her coldly, "Some things aren’t seen with the eyes, but with the heart."
Stella Valentine wanted to say more, but Winston Valentine said coldly: "Stella Valentine, shut up!"
Stella Valentine resentfully bit her teeth, this was ridiculous, Vera Yves was clearly the one at fault! Yet they all stood by her?
Winston Valentine picked Cecilia Vaughn up from the ground, his stern face showing a serious expression, emanating an aura warning strangers to stay away.
Cecilia Vaughn clung to his arm, her voice weak, "Winston, I’m so scared... will I lose the baby..."
Winston Valentine said nothing, carrying her out of the banquet hall, with Samantha Warren following behind, soon disappearing out of sight.
Throughout, his gaze never landed on Vera Yves for even a moment.
Vera Yves clenched her palms tightly.
Even though she didn’t care if Winston Valentine saw her as human or ghost, she worried he might vent his anger on The Yves Family because of this incident.
Vera Yves instinctively glanced at the surrounding surveillance.
Hannah Hayes snapped back to reality, grabbing Vera Yves’s arm and leading her out of the banquet hall, "Whose child is Cecilia Vaughn pregnant with?"
Vera Yves did not respond.
Hannah Hayes’s face became somber, "Is it Winston Valentine’s? Did you already know? Is that why you’ve been staying home for so long?"
Vera Yves knew she couldn’t hide the truth anymore, "We’ve already decided to divorce, just need to grab the divorce certificate."
Hannah Hayes looked at her in disbelief, "Such a big matter as divorce, you didn’t even mention it to me or your father!"
Vera Yves lowered her voice, "I wanted to wait until we got the divorce certificate to tell you."
"Why not wait until he marries Cecilia Vaughn to tell me?"
For a moment, Vera Yves was speechless.
"Not having the divorce certificate means you’re still married!" Hannah Hayes’s voice trembled with anger, "That bastard Winston Valentine, he’s gone too far!"
Hannah Hayes turned to leave, Vera Yves quickly reached for her in panic, "Mom, we’re going to divorce anyway..."
Hannah Hayes directly shook off Vera Yves’s hand, storming away in indignation.
Vera Yves rubbed her temples, chasing after her, only managing to glimpse the departing car.
Miles Monroe followed her out, "Vera..."
"Miles, please take me to the hospital!"
Cecilia Vaughn was rushed into emergency as soon as she arrived at the hospital.
Winston Valentine went to the restroom to clean the blood off his body, recalling the words Cecilia Vaughn said to him on the way.
"Vera Yves resented you for making her abort the child and wants our child to pay for hers, that’s why she pushed me!"
Winston Valentine took off his suit jacket, washing the blood from his hands several times before it was clean, he couldn’t help but wonder if Vera Yves lost that much blood when aborting the child too?
Did she feel scared lying there alone on the operating table?
Did the surgery hurt?
Winston Valentine blinked his stinging eyes, washed his hands a few more times before returning outside the emergency room.
"Winston Valentine!" Hannah Hayes came with an imposing air but was stopped halfway by the bodyguards.
Samantha Warren wiped tears from the corners of her eyes, angrily looking at her, "How dare The Yves Family show their face here?"
Winston Valentine walked back a few steps, signaling the bodyguards to step aside.
"Why should I not show my face? I wasn’t the one who did anything wrong!" Hannah Hayes trembled with anger, "Winston Valentine, in terms of family status, we, The Yves, can’t compare to you, The Valentine Family, but in terms of being human, Winston Valentine, you are utterly unworthy of being called a human!"
Samantha Warren approached, angrily saying, "Are The Yves qualified to be called human? You’re well aware of how your daughter became Mrs. Valentine in the first place!"
"How are The Yves unfit to be called human?" Hannah Hayes planted both hands on her hips, showing every intention to argue fiercely, "Saying my daughter schemed to climb into bed? Was someone holding a gun to your head forcing you to sleep together?"
"Saying my daughter got pregnant to force marriage? We’re all adults and not responsible for our actions?"
Hannah Hayes grew more furious as she spoke, "Took responsibility, yet every day behaves as though the world owes you! What has our Vera done to wrong you? She’s lived faithfully with you, and you?"
"Even after marriage, you remain entangled with your ex-girlfriend, how much humiliation has Vera endured?" Hannah Hayes angrily shot Winston Valentine a look, "And now, Cecilia Vaughn is pregnant too! How disgusting can you get?"
"Enough! You’re well aware of the dirty things The Yves have done! If your daughter were truly innocent, would she have ended up marrying Winston Valentine?" Samantha Warren was brimming with anger, "The Yves aren’t even fit to carry The Valentine’s shoes! If she’s not content living her life, what does she expect?"
"Whether deserving or not, he’s already married Vera!" Hannah Hayes glared at Winston Valentine furiously, "Our Vera has endured so much distress, and in the end, you give her nothing but a green hat! Winston Valentine, you’re unbelievable!"
Hannah Hayes suddenly stepped forward.
"Slap!"
A resounding slap landed on Winston Valentine’s face.
Time seemed to freeze that instant.
Samantha Warren stared dumbfounded, had this woman gone insane, daring to lay hands on Winston Valentine?
The bodyguards immediately moved forward, seizing Hannah Hayes’s arm.
"Mom!" Vera Yves hurriedly approached Hannah Hayes, standing in front of her, looking at Winston Valentine, "Whatever the issue is, direct it at me!"
