Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 88: Insisting on Putting on a Green Hat
Vera Yves followed her gaze and saw Miles talking with a woman at the bar not far away.
The woman seemed elegant and beautiful, looking at him with admiration.
Vera didn’t move, but Zoe Monroe tugged at her, "Come on, Vera."
"Zoe, since when have you been so tactless?" Vera smiled at her, "Let’s go grab a drink."
"Vera, my cousin is here on a date, and you don’t care?"
Vera looked at her helplessly, "What does it have to do with me? At most... I can give him some advice?"
Zoe glanced at Vera and then looked at Miles not far away, and left in a huff.
Vera rubbed her temples, intending to follow, but someone blocked her way.
"Oh, isn’t this Mrs. Valentine?" A flippant voice sounded.
Vera looked up to see Luke Shaw with his arm around a voluptuous woman, grinning at her.
He had waited so long, finally able to vent his anger from Winston Valentine!
"No, it should be the ex-Mrs. Valentine." Luke Shaw sneered maliciously, "Tsk, acting all high and mighty in front of me back then, turns out you were sneaking around with other men."
Vera’s expression remained indifferent, not wanting to clash with him, with so many eyes around waiting to see a drama.
"Don’t go." Luke Shaw let go of the woman, approached Vera, and lowered his voice, "Let’s make a deal, spend the night with me, name your price."
"Smack!"
Luke Shaw covered his face, his smile vanished, "Damn it, Vera, you’ve already been kicked out by Winston Valentine, and you’re still acting so brazen!"
Vera’s face flushed with anger, "Watch your mouth!"
"Clean?" Luke Shaw grabbed Vera’s wrist, "Who here doesn’t know how you got into Winston Valentine’s bed? It’s no wonder he dumped a woman like you!"
Vera gritted her teeth, "If you don’t let go, I’ll report you for sexual harassment!"
Luke Shaw pulled Vera closer, laughing vilely, "Go ahead! Should I leave you some evidence?"
People around watched the spectacle unfold.
Luke Shaw lowered his head, trying to kiss her; Vera raised her foot and stomped on his foot.
"Ah!" With a scream, Luke Shaw released his grip.
Vera seized the opportunity to run away, and Luke Shaw angrily chased after her.
Someone tripped her foot; Vera fell forward, but someone caught her just in time.
"Thanks..." Seeing Winston Valentine’s expressionless face, Vera withdrew her hand and stood upright.
Luke Shaw caught up, and seeing Winston Valentine, he retracted the hand intended to grab Vera, smiling obsequiously, "President Valentine."
Winston Valentine glanced at him coldly, "What do you intend to do?"
"I just want to make friends with Miss Yves." Luke Shaw kept smiling.
"Bullying women, what skill is that?" Winston Valentine curled his lips, "Looks like you haven’t learned your lesson."
Luke Shaw’s legs trembled instinctively, "President Valentine, I’m just venting for you, this woman was unfaithful while being Mrs. Valentine, she even dared to cheat on you!"
Vera trembled with anger but said nothing, wanting to leave.
Winston Valentine grabbed her wrist, then aimed a kick at Luke Shaw’s lower body, making him scream in pain and double over.
Winston Valentine’s expression remained cold, "The reason for Miss Yves’s and my divorce is clearly stated in the divorce statement, whoever spreads rumors will face this consequence."
Zoe Monroe listened on the sidelines and pulled Vera to shield her, looking at Winston Valentine with displeasure.
"Why are you pretending to be kind? Those reports about Vera and my cousin must have been spread by you! Do you have a cuckold fetish or something? Insisting on putting a green hat on yourself!"
Zoe Monroe grew angrier, "Now you can’t bear the embarrassment and come out to clarify!"
Winston Valentine glanced at her, Zoe Monroe met his icy gaze, swallowed nervously, then raised her chest and stared back, "Hypocritical and self-righteous!"
Winston Valentine sneered, noticing a figure approaching, his eyes darkened.
Miles approached Vera, asked her softly, and looked at Winston Valentine with concealed anger in his dark eyes, "Divorced yet you still smear Vera, what kind of man are you?"
"And what kind of man are you?" Winston Valentine looked at Miles contemptuously, "Dragging a woman along, do you feel accomplished?"
"Winston Valentine!" Vera clenched her fists, glaring at him in anger.
"There’s nothing between Vera and me."
"Clear as day, huh!" Winston Valentine chuckled disdainfully, walked over to Miles.
He lowered his voice, "Why don’t you ask the woman beside you whose name she calls when she’s drunk, or you could rummage through her room."
Miles looked at him puzzled.
Winston Valentine said nonchalantly, "You might find the love letter she wrote to you when she was eighteen."
Vera looked up in shock, meeting his mocking gaze, feeling cold; how... how did he know?
Miles momentarily forgot to react.
Winston Valentine patted his shoulder, "Wish Counselor Monroe a pleasant date."
Zoe Monroe was shocked and quietly tugged Vera’s arm, "Vera, you actually wrote my cousin a love letter?"
Then why would he still be with Jane Shea?
After finishing, Winston Valentine turned and walked into the crowd.
"Vera..." Miles seemed to regain his composure and looked at Vera.
Vera pushed Zoe’s arm away and left the party herself.
Miles belatedly chased after her; the woman saw him leaving and followed, but Zoe blocked her way, smiling, "Sorry, my cousin has something urgent."
Once outside the club, Vera finally breathed easier, pondering how Winston Valentine knew? That love letter, only she knew!
Before marriage, or after marriage?
No wonder...
"Vera."
Miles blocked her path, his voice trembling, "Is what he said true?"
Cold wind blew past, Vera came back to herself, meeting Miles’s apologetic gaze, "Miles, whether it’s true or not, it’s no longer important."
So, it was true.
Miles lowered his hand; he was her first love.
"You’ve had a drink, would you like me to take you home?"
Miles nodded, the journey silent.
Next morning, she received a call from Old Master Monroe and drove to The Morgan Estate.
Vera helped Old Master Monroe with his prescription and stayed with him for a while.
"Are you really not planning to reopen the clinic?"
Vera shook her head, "Opening a clinic is too tiring."
"What’s there to fear about young people being tired?"
Vera smiled, "Physical fatigue isn’t the issue, it’s the effort being unrewarded that’s daunting."
"You little girl." Old Master Monroe’s voice was robust, "Don’t mind those bastards, I know my body; you cured my illness! Whatever you want, as long as Grandpa has it, it’s yours."
"Miles has already paid the consultation fee."
Upon hearing Miles’s name, Old Master Monroe’s expression turned stern, "My grandson has many merits, just poor judgment."
"Grandpa, you’re still talking bad about me?" Miles walked into the living room with a smile.
Old Master Monroe glanced at him, "Bad talk? I’m just stating facts."
Miles sat down on the sofa and looked at Vera, "Okay, sometimes my judgment really isn’t that great."
