Tokyo: From Lawless Madpolice to Minister-Chapter 600 - 494: Creating a Weakness? Deliberately Sowing Doubt, Public Resentment Swells
Chapter 600: Chapter 494: Creating a Weakness? Deliberately Sowing Doubt, Public Resentment Swells
Xiu Xin immediately found a nearby public phone booth to report to Muraoka after fleeing. "Boss, our operation failed. We didn’t manage to get back the stuff from that cop, and my big brother even died in the shootout."
"What?" Muraoka suddenly stood up, his complexion changing unpredictably. "Find a place to hide for now. Once you’re settled, give me the address and I will arrange to send you some money as compensation."
"Hey!" Xiu Xin couldn’t afford to grieve and was soon going to embrace a life of wealth and luxury.
After hanging up the phone, Muraoka, with an ashen face, turned to Panasonic Toyoshige. "There’s nothing we can do now but rely on those people to protect you. Don’t delay; make the call."
Panasonic Toyoshige sighed wearily, stood up, walked to the landline, and dialed a number. "This is Panasonic. I apologize for disturbing you so late, but the situation is urgent, and I had no choice. Tonight... Please save me!"
He briefly recounted the situation.
"Idiot!" The person on the other end of the line was now completely awake and furiously berated, "I told you to leave, but you didn’t. You said you wouldn’t let the fire reach me, and now that you’ve messed up, you’re asking me to step in, you bastard!"
If they weren’t worried that Panasonic Toyoshige had some tricks up his sleeve, they would have made him vanish from the face of the earth long ago.
"I am very sorry! But please, consider that I personally performed surgery for you in the past and extend your help to get me through this crisis." Panasonic Toyoshige was both extremely polite and subtly threatening.
"Damn it! You deserve to die!" The person on the other end cursed vehemently and hung up.
Panasonic Toyoshige continued calling other people.
"Idiot! Why don’t you just go die?"
"Please calm down, Your Excellency. I can die, but if something I’m keeping were to be left unguarded after my death, it could spread everywhere."
"Bastard! Are you threatening me?"
"Not at all, I’m merely reminding Your Excellency."
If it were up to him, Panasonic Toyoshige wouldn’t want to offend these people, but he had no choice.
After making these calls, he needed to hold even tighter to what he had, to protect his own life; otherwise, if not caught by the police, those people would kill him.
Meanwhile, at police headquarters, Nakamura Shinichi, his face and hands covered in minor cuts, presented the evidence he had brought back to Police Chief Aoyama Xiu Xin with a resounding declaration, "Senior Police Director, I have successfully completed the mission!"
Police Chief Aoyama Xiu Xin was already aware of the ambush Shinichi had encountered on the road and began to review the evidence.
"Excellent! Shinichi, you have truly not disappointed me!" said Aoyama Xiu Xin, smiling after reviewing the evidence and patting Nakamura Shinichi on the shoulder.
Nakamura Shinichi also smiled and tentatively asked, "Can we make arrests directly now?"
"No," replied Aoyama Xiu Xin, shaking his head and waving the evidence, "With this, I can arrest him, but now is not the time."
"Ding-a-ling! Ding-a-ling!"
A sudden, urgent ringing of the phone broke the silence.
"Here it comes," said Aoyama Xiu Xin, walking to his desk to pick up the phone, "Mosi mosi."
"Mr. Aoyama, why didn’t you inform me about such a substantial move tonight?" Fujimoto Takayoshi asked.
Aoyama Xiu Xin replied, "The Minister is already so busy; I didn’t want to take up your rest time. I planned to report it tomorrow morning."
"It’s a pity not everyone is as considerate as you, Mr. Aoyama," Fujimoto Takayoshi sighed with an underlying meaning and then asked, "Have you obtained evidence proving Panasonic Toyoshige is the mastermind?"
"Yes!" Aoyama Xiu Xin responded affirmatively.
"Congratulations," Fujimoto Takayoshi said first, before changing the tone, "But since we can’t make arrests, just now both my mobile phone and landline got bombarded with calls. Every caller was a prominent figure from Hokkaido, directly asking me to give face."
Face meant more than the law to these people.
"I understand the Minister’s dilemma, and I didn’t plan on making arrests now," Aoyama Xiu Xin anticipated this and knew that having evidence merely gave him the knife to kill Panasonic Toyoshige, but he couldn’t actually do it now.
Exposing those who had received organ transplants due to arresting Panasonic Toyoshige would make him a target of resentment from these individuals, which wasn’t worth it.
"Just as you said, Mr. Aoyama understands people’s hearts," Fujimoto Takayoshi heard Aoyama Xiu Xin’s unwavering determination to not let go of Panasonic Toyoshige and curiously added, "When will the arrest occur?"
"Panasonic Toyoshige likes to threaten using people’s family members, doesn’t he? We’ll just treat him using his own methods and make him willingly surrender," Aoyama Xiu Xin already had a detailed plan in mind.
Fujimoto Takayoshi was puzzled and said with confusion, "His parents and wife passed away long ago, and his only son has already been sentenced to death, now he has no family, no weakness, right?"
Hence, having too many solo individuals is detrimental to societal stability, challenging for the rulers to manage.
The government must encourage marriage and childbearing.
"So we’ll create a weakness for him," said Aoyama Xiu Xin with a sly smile, speaking softly, "Every man needs a woman, and Director Panasonic is no exception. What if one of the women he favored became pregnant? Would he not consider his only progeny? The older a man gets, the more he wants to pass on his legacy."
"This is a long-term plan. It seems you’re determined to corner him," Fujimoto Takayoshi took a deep breath, pondering briefly, "If Mr. Aoyama is confident, then proceed."
Not arresting Panasonic Toyoshige when he had evidence was giving him face; therefore, Fujimoto Takayoshi naturally supported Aoyama Xiu Xin’s other methods to eliminate Panasonic Toyoshige, and he understood Aoyama Xiu Xin’s reasons very well—after all, they had a blood feud.
If Panasonic Toyoshige were just an ordinary hospital director, he might have been overlooked, but now knowing he was the mastermind behind an organ trafficking organization, conniving and ruthless, how could Aoyama Xiu Xin not prevent his retaliation?
If there was a chance, of course, they needed to corner him.
"Yes!" Aoyama Xiu Xin acknowledged, and after the other party hung up the phone, he turned to Nakamura Shinichi. "Arrange for someone to secretly follow Panasonic Toyoshige. I want to know which women he has been with recently. Compile their information for me. Go take care of your wounds first."
"Hi!" After bowing, Nakamura Shinichi left.
Aoyama Xiu Xin checked the time; it was already 3 a.m. He instructed the relevant departments to notify all media outlets that the police would hold an emergency press conference about the organ trafficking incident.
Journalists from various newspapers, after receiving calls from their superiors, had no choice but to hastily get out of bed and rush to the police headquarters for the meeting, carrying what they needed for work.
At the press conference, Nakamura Shinichi announced that after investigation, the evidence available indicated that Fujii was the mastermind behind the human organ trafficking case and had already committed suicide out of fear of his crimes.
Only by temporarily closing the case with Fujii as the mastermind could they confuse Panasonic Toyoshige, causing him to let his guard down and prevent him from fleeing the country for fear of being caught.
As for the police closing the case so quickly and with the prime suspect dead, the public would naturally have many doubts.
Nakamura Shinichi had to bear these grievances for the time being.

Dawn broke, and the rising sun painted the entire sky a shade of orange-red. Panasonic Toyoshige and Muraoka, who hadn’t slept all night, exchanged glances and simultaneously heaved a sigh of relief.
The whole night had passed without a police visit, and they knew they had safely made it through this hurdle, as the police had given up their pursuit due to pressure from the higher-ups.
"We can’t be complacent. As long as the police have the evidence and haven’t closed the case, it means they haven’t given up on catching you," Muraoka said, rubbing his cheeks.
Panasonic Toyoshige nodded in agreement, feeling the closeness of his brush with disaster, and said, "I’m planning to go abroad for a trip, to lay low for a bit."
Most importantly, he needed to send his child and the mother abroad to avoid being implicated by the police’s ongoing covert investigations, especially if it got back to the big shots he had threatened in the early hours.
They would definitely use his child to threaten him.
And for his child’s sake, he would inevitably compromise.
After all, this was truly his only child.
"That would be best," Muraoka nodded, then stood up and said, "I haven’t slept all night, and I can barely keep my eyes open. I’m going to head back home and catch up on some sleep."
"Take care," Panasonic Toyoshige saw him off.
Muraoka strode away but returned within just seven or eight minutes, holding a newspaper.
"What’s up?" Already changed into pajamas and ready to rest, Panasonic Toyoshige was startled by the door opening and looked at Muraoka uncertainly.
"You don’t need to go abroad anymore." Muraoka stared at him for a while without saying anything, then burst into laughter and handed him the newspaper, "Take a look for yourself."
Upon receiving it, Panasonic Toyoshige glanced at the front-page headline: "Human organ trafficking case closed in the early hours, the prime suspect Fujii commits suicide in custody."
After the early morning press conference concluded, local newspapers had worked overtime to reprint this morning’s edition, as such significant news justified doing so, and getting the scoop could bring in sales that entirely covered the reprinting costs.
News is all about timeliness; many people might choose to subscribe to their newspaper long-term if they reported this story while others did not.
"It seems the words of those big shots still carry weight! We’ve tried everything to no avail, but with a bit of their pressure, the police closed the case," Muraoka lamented from the heart; such is the power of authority.
Panasonic Toyoshige also genuinely breathed a sigh of relief; since the police had closed the case under pressure, he no longer needed to worry in the short term. As long as those big shots who received organ transplants were alive, he was safe.
"Good! Good! Good! Hahaha!"
The pent-up frustration in his heart was swept away completely.
He laughed heartily, his face glowing red.
From now on, he would still be the dignified director of the hospital, without having to worry about becoming a prisoner.
However, local residents in Hokkaido questioned the report. After all, the fact that Fujii committed suicide seemed like someone was silencing him.
"Just a scapegoat. The police handling the case must have been bought off, afraid to investigate further,"
"Such a big case, closed so hastily, they’re treating us citizens like idiots!"
"Isn’t this common? The police and criminals are all in cahoots, birds of a feather! Ptooey!"
"No wonder Chief of Police Qing Mountain wasn’t put in charge of this case, after all, everyone knows he is honest and incorruptible, probably afraid he would thoroughly investigate and involve the big shots!"
Although Aoyama Xiu Xin hadn’t been involved in the case on the surface, in the end, he still received praise.
Such are the benefits of having a good reputation.
As for Nakamura Shinichi, he was now seen by the locals as a protector of criminals and despised by everyone.
Nakamura Shinichi wasn’t much bothered by this; the more he was cursed by the public, the more secure his future seemed, as Aoyama Xiu Xin would compensate him later.
Some of the victims’ families and citizens who questioned the investigation results were filled with righteous indignation and voluntarily took to the streets to protest, demanding a re-investigation of the case by the police.
But, unsurprisingly, the police would likely ignore them. The authorities have extensive experience dealing with protests, and without organization, such spontaneous movements would dissipate in a few days, as emotions come and go quickly.
Another person who reacted intensely to the report was Mrs. Fujii, trembling with rage and unable to stop her tears. She called Nakamura Shinichi to confront him.
"You said that if I handed over the evidence, Panasonic Toyoshige would be caught, didn’t you? Didn’t you say the police outside would never leave? Bastard! Are you in cahoots with Panasonic Toyoshige? Did you trick me into giving up the evidence? You will definitely go to Hell for deceiving me like this!"
Nakamura Shinichi, feeling helpless, could only go to Mrs. Fujii’s home to explain in person, to prevent her from complicating matters.
